Happy Friday! The weekend is almost here. We are heading off to a wedding early tomorrow morning and on Sunday we are visiting the Harry Potter studio tour, which is near where we will be staying. Two very exciting things to do. I won't be blogging or commenting much this weekend I know I am going to be very busy.

When I went to the Newbury Craft show, last weekend,  I had quite a long chat with John Lockwood he is becoming a  good friend. While we were talking he was using the new Snow Globe die set by Sue Wilson. I even helped him with a few things. I was so impressed with the dies and what he did with them I bought the Snow Globe die set and the Cottage Snow Globe scene. Today was my first opportunity to play with the dies.

This is an A5 card I don't often make these I do like may square cards. The backing paper was in my stash. 

This is the male deer from the Deer family die set that was released last year. 

This Season's Greeting die was also released last year. 

I did have fun putting the Snow Globe together. The treat cups make it so much easier to make a shaker card. I put Micro beads in mine. 

Look what I have treated myself to. I have been wanting to replace my Grand Calibur since the handle broke. I was able to pay for this with my earnings from card sales which is kind of appropriate. 

Here is is unpacked and I did use it today. I was impressed it is a very solid piece of kit. 

I have lots of ideas of how to use this die set so you will probably see it a lot more. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that the weather is kind to all of us.

Large Leaving Card for a Male Colleague.

How has your week been so far? I can't believe we are so near the end of term only two weeks to go. There are lots of things to get done before then. I am looking forward to the time off I know I am very lucky to have this type of job.

One of our male colleagues is leaving at the end of term and I have made a card for our group to sign. I am also working on something for the children to give him when he leaves. I found out recently that another one of our team is leaving so that will be another large card to make before the end of term.

This is an A4 card. I tried to keep the design simple and the idea of the colours came from the football team he supports. The stars were cut with a nested die set that came free with a magazine some time ago. 

The thank you die is one of Sue Wilson's. 

For the background I used some word stamps by Visible Image I stamped them in Perfect Medium and heat embossed them with red, blue and clear. Then I inked over the page with a couple of shades of  Distress Ink before finally spritzing it with water. 

This card has nearly all of the signatures now and I have manged to get some of our occasional visitors to sign it too. The card from the children is coming on well too I won't be able to share that one.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Make it Pearly

I hope you had a great weekend. On Saturday we went to the Newbury Craft Show and after we met our daughter and her fiance and his parents for a meal and a spot of shopping. On Sunday we had a day catching up on bits and pieces in the house. It is good to have days like that.

On the first Tuesday of the month a new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog the theme this time is Make it Pearly.

I started by making a circular aperture in the top layer and this was embossed with folder that came free with a magazine. I found a pale pink mirror card in my stash to mat the layers and make a frame for the image. For the mat at the back I used the Bed of Roses folder by Creative Expressions. 

The image is from a very old Kanban kit can you see she has pearls on her headband. As the mat is raised on foam pads she is recessed behind. 

These flowers are made with punch that embosses at the same time the leaf was made with the same type of punch.

Fantasy Stampers - Wish Upon a Star

The weekend is here. Do you have plans? We are off to the Craft Show at Newbury Racecourse. Then we are going to our daughter and her fiance's rented house which is near there. They are moving out soon and we are going to help with a few bits and pieces. It should be a good day.

The new challenge starts today on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge blog. The theme is Wish Upon a Star.  I couldn't think of a stamp that I had with a star on it in my collection so this meant a trip to Hobbycraft.

The stamp is called Shooting Star and it was a bargain it only cost £1. I used it to create the background. I heat embossed it in black and gold and silver and then I inked over it with a grey distress ink. 

To create the topper I stamped and heat embossed again in black, gold and silver. I used the double pierced rectangles to cut it out and to create the mats and layers, 

I am not sure where the sentiment stamp came from I found it in my stash. 

I was pleased with how this card turned out. I think I will be using the star stamp quite often now I have it. Tomorrow the winners will be posted on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog.

Creative Artiste Challenge 16 - Anything Goes

Today is a busy blog day. It the first of the month and it is a Friday.

The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes. There is a sponsor this month Scrapmatts  who are based in Australia. The design team were all sent goodies to play with. I have a little confession I lost my goodies I keep expecting them to turn up but they haven't yet.

In my stash I had a chipboard door hanger that I painted all over with Gesso. When this had dried I used some decoupage glue to cover the door hanger with different shades of blue tissue paper. There was another wait for this to dry. I did cover both sides. I took a stencil and inked through it with a silver ink.

This is an LOTV stamp that I love. She was stamped with black archival onto water colour card and then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.  She was cut our by hand and added to the door hanger with a gel glue. 

At the bottom I added shells, pearl strings and die cuts.

Crafts Galore Encore - Anything Goes

Happy Friday! Today there will be two posts from me it is the first of the month, two of the Design teams I am on challenges start on the first of the month.

The new Challenge on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog is sponsored by  Art by Miran  and the theme is Anything Goes. There will be a prize of three images of choice from the sponsor.

I used paper and lace from my stash to create the background, I used black in my layers as I had printed the image in black.

This is an LOTV stamp that came free with a magazine some time ago I find it very useful. I used a Spellbinders die to mount it. 

The image is called Bubbles Brea and is available in the Etsy store. I coloured her with Promarkers and I used a Wink of Stella pen on the bubbles but of course it doesn't show. I made a frame for the image with the double pierced rectangles by Sue Wilson.  

You can just about see the shimmer on the bubbles in this photo.

Tattered Lace - Sledging Mouse

Happy Wednesday. I am  having a busy week I was on a school trip on Monday and I am on another trip today. I hope the weather is okay the forecast is for heavy rain and we will be outside at a farm.

I was sent three sets of Christmas dies by Tattered Lace recently and the last set should be on Create and Craft today as part of the Tattered Lace Christmas Crafting Shows. The main part of the show is about snowglobe dies I was sent a Sledging Mouse die and two sentiment dies.

Here are all the cards I sent in together. 

As a bonus I was sent the Oval Shutter card set I couldn't wait to use it. It comes with all the dies for the mats and layers and there are some embellishment dies as well. That is where the stars with the mice came from. In the centre there is the Miracle of Christmas die. 

I made a wreath of plaited ribbon to surround the Miracle of Christmas die. 

This card shows the mouse and his sledge together. The trees came from a Tattered Lace magazine about a year ago. The mouse was cut out in white card and coloured with Promarkers. 

This die is meant to be on the inside of a card. I managed to make a stepper card. The mouse on this one was paper pierced. 

This tag was made with leftovers.
