Congratulations - Stars

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is you week going? I hope it is OK. I have had a cold and  I took and day off work, it seems to have done the trick, even though I am still quite husky, I am feeling much better. It is officially Autumn now Google said so yesterday. So I don't need to feel guilty about putting the heating on.

My sister has recently secured her dream job, the type of job she has been wanting for a while. She starts in October so I thought I would make her a Congratulations card. Where better to start than with my Visible Image stamps and a rather useful Star die set.

The  Kraft card blank was  7" x  7".  I cut a black mat,  a silver mat and a smooth white card mat. I took the white mat and stamped the verse  and the Congratulations from the   Congratulations Set by Visible Image with Perfect Medium and heat embossed them with a clear powder. I have a stamp that stamps small stars this was stamped all over the page with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a silver powder. Finally I inked the mat all over with three shades of Distress Ink.

I used the Star die set ( I think it came from a magazine) to make stars to cover the mat making a focal element of the large star.

I stamped the Congratulations onto some white card and cut it out with one of Sue Wilson's pierced flag dies. I had been watching Julia Watts on Hochanda and she said  with open dies to emboss them first before cutting.  This is because they have a tendency to pop out of the die when cut and they are  difficult to seat back in to emboss. So that is what I did and before I removed the flag from the die I inked round the edge.

I managed to make this card in just under an hour which is very good for me. I think my sister will like it.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

Happy Crafting

Hugs Jackie
