Nautical themed Father's Day Card

Hi  My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? We have got to what some refer to as Hump Day so technically we are on the run down to the weekend. Not that I am time off obsessed of course.

I am ever wanting to be ahead with my projects just in case some opportunities come up so I have time to fit them in. You never know.  With this is mind I decided to start on  my Father's Day Cards yesterday. I have had the idea for this card for my Father-in-law since I worked with the nautical dies from Tattered Lace a few weeks ago.

You might know that my Father-in-Law is just over 90 and a naval veteran of the second world war. He also volunteered for many years running a Sea Cadet unit near where he lives. He does love cards with a nautical theme and some texture as he is now partially sighted.

This is the Tattered Lace Sailing Ship die. This has been one of my favourite dies that I have been sent by Tattered Lace. I can see my self using it a lot in the future. I inked the background and I made the port hole with some Tonic circle dies. I cut a circle of acetate to fit inside the port hole to make it look like glass.

This is the Tattered Lace Anchor die I like how the rope wraps around the anchor.

The sentiment was cut with a Signature die.

I know my Father-in-Law will like this card. He is always very pleased with my cards and phones especially to say thank you. I have two more Father's Day cards to make. I am not so sure what to make for the other cards. I will be looking around for some inspiration.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Happy Crafting

Hugs Jackie

  1. It's a lovely card Jackie, he'll love it! The ship and porthole are brilliant, what backing paper did you use? I'm having a woody woodland look phase so scouting around for wood grain papers lol! My hubby's Grandad was a Navy man also, sadly no longer with us, he would have loved a card like this as well :) Debs x

  28. Love your card. My husband is home today so I was able to steer him in my direction to take a peek. He said it was very nice indeed. He said, "the rope is tied around the anchor." We all know its not a good thing and I am sure he was thinking that in a not so safe, seaworthy situation but then I read that you said, "This is the Tattered Lace Anchor die I like how the rope wraps around the anchor." and he chuckled. We both enjoyed your card and it is so hard to make cards for the guys in our lives. Any chance you would be willing to send a snippet of these pieces and I could pay you something for it? I have a son just out of the Navy and he would love a card like this for his birthday in July. email me at theresakrout@gmail.com either way. Thanks a bunch.
