My card in Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine Issue 163

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you have had a great weekend. We have been down to Bristol and we stayed in the hotel that we will be using for the wedding. Luckily nearby there is a nice restaurant to use for a meal on the night before the wedding. Our daughter, her fiance and his parents saw the hotel and the restaurant and liked both. We also had a meeting about chairs and sashes - you knew there were so many ways they could be tied. So a lot was achieved and we know where lots of things are now.

While we were away I bought a copy of Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine (issue 163) and I was thrilled to see my card in print.

I made this card for the sketch challenge in the current issue.

I won a cute pack of LOTV images from the Pixie's Snippets Playground a couple of months back and I used one of the images to make this card. I used colours from the image in my design.

Here is a picture of my card on the page with the lovely comment from the editor.

While we were in Bristol we had a walk along the Clifton Suspension Bridge. This photo was taken from the Visitors' Centre.

I hope you have a great week.

Elegant Wedding Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

It is the last day of the half term holiday just the weekend to go now. We are heading off to Bristol later this morning.  We will be staying in the hotel we will be using for the wedding so that we can check things out. On Saturday we will be visiting the company who we are hiring the chairs from. It is going to be busy.

One of the ladies at work is getting married soon. It is only going to be a small affair but I wanted to make her a card. She showed me a picture of her dress and I used the colours as inspiration for this card.

I took an 8" x 8" card blank and trimmed it down to 7" x 7". I found two sheets of the pink card in my stash for the mats and layers. The paper came from a pad by Wild Rose Studios I am using these papers for our daughter's wedding. For the background detail I used the corner die from the French Collection Border Corner Tag die set by Creative Expressions.

I cut the sentiment with the Expressions Ornate Oval On Your Special Day die set from Creative Expressions. I do cut these sorts of details from centre of the mats below to save card.

I used a piece of matching paper and a Deep Punch around the page punch set to create the border. I added a plan square that I inked around the edge so I can write a message.

I hope she likes this card. I isn't long till her wedding now they have only been planning it for a few weeks.

Cute Hedgehogs - LC Designs

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a great week. I am heading off to meet friends for lunch a bit later. Not working is just brilliant. Yesterday my husband had the day off and we went to the cinema and we had a lovely lunch. I am progressing well with the buttonhole flowers too. We also managed to post the invitations to the wedding. It is all starting to get a bit real. You can see the designs Here.

I think I have said before that I treated myself to some LC Designs stamps when I went to the Newbury Craft show.

I used paper scraps from my stash to create the background.

The image and the sentiment were stamped on to water colour card with black archival ink and then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

I just added some lace and gems to finish off the design.

Happy Crafting.

Happy Birthday - Birds by Pollyanna Pickering

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead. We had a lovely weekend. On Saturday I went to a craft workshop and my husband met a friend in town for lunch in the evening we had a meal with friends. On Sunday in the evening we headed into Southampton to see the light show on the city walls it was amazing. I hope they do more events like this in the future.

I was having a play with some new dies. I am naughty I keep buying myself new bits and pieces

I decided to make a trellis to match the image  with the Trellis Edger die set by Creative Expressions.

The Happy Birthday was cut with a Crafter's Companion die.

This is another image from my pad of images by Pollyanna Pickering.

To match the flowers in the image I cut the leave from green vellum with the Laurel die set by Creative Expressions and the flower with the Petite Peony Cluster die set.

Here are some of the photos I took last night at the light show in Southampton.

These hanging lights changed colour and made patterns all to gentle music. You could stand among them too.

There were lots of images projected onto the historic walls.

It is my half term holiday this week and I have managed to fill every day with seeing different people it is really nice. Someone is even taking me shopping to look at Mother of the Bride outfits. Enjoy your week.

Alphabet Challenge Blog - Letter Y - You Choose

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is nearly here and the start of the Half Term break for me. Today is a training day so no children in school.

The new challenge starts today on the Alphabet Challenge blog the letter is Y and the theme, chosen by me,  is You Choose. In other words anything goes. I will be choosing the top three at the end of the challenge.

I was asked to make a Graduation card for someone's daughter at work. She got a first and she likes pink. I found some dotty paper in my stash but it was a bit too bold I toned it down by adding a layer of vellum.

I used my X-cut dies to cut the number and the st. The star dies came free with a magazine a while ago. They have been so useful.

This is a Tattered Lace dies it is one of the most useful dies I received when I was on their Design Team.

I cut her name with my Tonic Alphabet dies.

Apparently the recipient was thrilled with her card. She graduated earlier in the month so it is okay for it to be shared now.

Enjoy the weekend.

Moving Along with the Times - A Card for a Man

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. I have been able to walk to school every day this week. Though I did get a bit wet walking home yesterday.

The new challenge starts on the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge Blog the theme this time is to make a card for a man.

I used the brick embossed paper from my stash and I inked with Distress ink. I used the Double Pierced Rectangles from Creative Expression to cut an aperture and a frames for the image.

I have a pad of these image by Pollyanna Pickering. This owl is just so cute poking his head round the corner.

I used the ivy die also from Creative Expressions to decorate round the frame.

This is a die from Crafter's Companion.

Now I have a little confession. Although I intended this card to be for a man, it has in fact been given to a lady. Someone wanted a card with an owl on it for a Brownie leader. I had this one and they were happy with it so that is what happened. It is funny how things work out.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Cute Pandas Valentine's Day Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Happy Valentine's Day. I hope that you have a wonderful day today whatever you are doing.

I made a Valentine's Day card with the free embossing folder and stamps from Issue 142 of Papercraft Essentials Magazine.

I started with the background I cut a piece of card to fit the hearts embossing folder. I then used the Heart of Hearts die to cut an aperture. Finally the card was embossed and sanded back.

The girly panda was stamped onto a piece of white card and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. Then she was placed behind the heart aperture. The happy boy panda was stamped onto another piece of card and then cut out by hand.

The sentiment came with the stamp set.

We had our Valentine's meal on Saturday we did the meal deal from M&S. We swapped cards this morning otherwise nothing special is happening.  I hope that you have a good day.

New Baby Cards

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead. I have one week to go and then it will be the  half term holiday for me. I can report that the day wedding invitations are all finished. When the wedding website is finished we will be able to send them out.

When we went to the Newbury Craft Show, a few weeks ago,  I treated myself to some LC Designs stamps there was an offer 3 for £12 well it would have been rude not to.  I decided to make some new baby cards for my stash, using one of the new stamps, as I know of a few people having babies soon.

The stamp is adorable and it fits so well in an oval. I used some Tattered Lace dies from the Oval Shutter die set to cut the central panel and the lacy border.

The stamp was stamped onto water colour card with Watering Can archival ink and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. It is very easy to colour.

I said I'd made two here is the boy's version.

It is a lovely stamp and so easy to adapt. I think I might play around with where the sentiment goes next time I used it.

Here are the cards together. Have a great week.

Butterfly Frame - Just for You

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is here. I hope you have something nice planned. We are going out for a meal with friends this evening and the rest of the weekend will be spent on wedding makes. I am hoping to completely finish the invitations so that I can move on to making the flowers.

I wanted to have another play with my Butterfly Frame die set. It is just so pretty.

I wanted to make a larger card this one is 8" x 8". I found the patterned paper in my stash.

I cut the Butterfly Frame in deep purple and I backed it with mauve. I cut the centre from the frame.

I have recently bought the Scalloped Lattice Frames Set B die set. I used the lattice die from this set to fill the aperture. The Just for You die set I have had for a while it did fit perfectly.

I hope you enjoy the weekend. I will be back on Monday. The weekends are getting rather pressurised.

Easter Card - Easter Lamb

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? I can't believe how the time is rushing by. There is still so much to do for the wedding. If you want to see how I am getting on there is a page dedicated to the wedding HERE.

I am also trying to get ahead with my other crafty makes for the year. I am still on April so I made a batch of Easter Cards everyone will have to have the same card this year.

I did stamp the image first and this influenced the colours I used for the mats and layers. The pattered papers were in my stash.

This is the Easter Lamb stamp by Stampin Up. I stamped it on to water colour card with Watering Can Archival ink then it was coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I used the Spellbinders Lacy Circle dies to cut the border for the image once in green and once in grey. The image was cut out with a Tonic circle die.

I bought the stamp last year he is so cute.  Enjoy the rest of the week.

Unicorn Challenge for February theme Hearts and or Butterflies

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Yesterday I was on a school trip to the Sea City Museum in Southampton. It tells the story of the Titanic and it is very interesting it clearly shows the impact the tragedy had on the city.

The first Tuesday of the month sees the start of a new challenge on the Unicorn Challenge blog. The theme this time is Hearts and or Butterflies.

For the background I used some scripted paper from my stash.

The butterflies were cut with a Sue Wilson die.

I cut the aperture and made a frame for it with the Heart of Hearts die set designed by Sue Wilson. The thank you die came free with a magazine.

The daisy cluster die was cut in green and the flowers added behind in purple. I pearl was added to the centre of each.

I did enjoy making this card I love using these beautiful dies.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
