A Boat for a Birthday.

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a good weekend and everything you wanted to do has gone to plan. I got my crating done and our friends came to stay for the night on their way back from a conference. We shared a nice lunch together and they headed home a few hours ago.

Do you remember me saying that my mother-in-law wanted me to make two birthday cards for her? She wants to give them  to a couple who help them out a lot and have birthdays very close together. Today I am sharing the card I made for the chap.

This is a very simple card but then I don't think a lot of men like fuss, there are always exceptions though. The image came from a birthday card that my father-in-law received for his 90th birthday in fact he had seven of them all the same. I choose the card stock for the matting and layering to match the colours in the image. I found lots of bits I could use in my snippets box including the backing paper with the boats on it.

I recently treated myself to a second set of matting basics dies by Spellbinders to compliment a set I already had. This makes it easier for me to cut smaller mats from the main mat of the same colour. This is how I made all the mats for the image.

I found snippets in my box of bits to make the mats for the sentiment. This was stamped and heat embossed.

I  cut the anchor and the ship's wheel with dies that I had bought for the wedding invitations I am making.

There you have it. I think my mother-in-law will like this card it is an A5 card the size she wanted or in her words "nothing too big."  As I have used so many snippets in one way or the other I would like to join in with Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 167.

I hope you have a good week. I will be back to share the card I made for the the lady later this week.

Happy crafting.

Hugs Jackie
