Christmas card for the Rudolph Days - November Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How have you all been while I have been away? We are back now from a wonderful trip. I do love a good cruise. The food, the entertainment and the places to visit it is all great. I will share more when we have settled a bit. Tonight we are going to see a Beatles Tribute band in Fareham with our good friends. Our friends  also helped us to get to and from our cruise.

Here is a small Christmas card I made for the November Rudolph Days Challenge. I made one of my Snippets backgrounds for this one.

I bought lots of A3 black card. I used to buy card blanks with envelopes and then I found that I had lots of envelopes left over. So now I make my own card blanks. When you make a large card blank there is usually enough card left to make a smaller one. I had a layer of silver glitter card for one of the mats. There was enough left over to cut some thin strips. These I used between strips of blue patterned paper to make the background,

The sentiment die is from the Round Bauble die set from the John Next Door range.

The stags came from the same die set.

I do hope I have enough Christmas cards. I can't see me having much time next month to make many more. November has been super busy too.

Have a great weekend.

Moving Along with the Times Challenge blog - the theme is Steampunk

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you are all well. At the moment we will be having breakfast on our cruise. When we get home I will catch up with all the blogging and comments, I will also let you know how our holiday went.

Today the new challenge starts at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog. The theme of the challenge is Steampunk. I have to admit this is one of my least favourite themes, I do struggle to make this style of card.

Anyway I will always have a go at a challenge. I created the background with some cog stamps that came free with a magazine. I heat embossed and used Distress inks to make a resist background.

Why not come a join in with our challenge and show me how this can be done properly. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

I have had this stamp for a while it is a Heartfelt Creations stamp called All Geared Up. I stamped in black and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I made a frame with the Double Pierced Rectangle dies from Creative Expressions.

I treated myself to the John Next Door Cogs Media Dies. I cut them with black card and used Pebo Gilding Wax on them. Can you see the brad in the corner it is the centre of one of the cog dies.

I wasn't sure how much I would use the cogs dies but I needed them for a card that I made for our son-in-law. So I think they were a good investment.

Have fun whatever you are doing. I will catch up with everyone soon.

The A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge Blog - Challenge 104 - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you have had a good week. This is my last day of invigilating. It will start up again in January. I am very excited as on Sunday we are heading off on a cruise to the Canary Islands. This means that I won't be around for a bit. I know that my blog and my Facebook page will suffer but you need to have a break sometimes. There will be a couple of scheduled posts while I am away. When we get back it will be nearly Christmas with all that entails.

Being the 15th of the month there is a new challenge at the A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes and there are some wonderful digital papers on offer as prizes.

This is a card that I made for a Facebook friend's daughter who got married at the beginning of October. The wedding was a big success I saw lots of photos on Facebook. I do love a good wedding.

I chose to use the All Change Digital paper set. I knew the colours of the wedding and this paper was perfect.

Our challenges are lots of fun. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

I used the Heart of Hearts dies from Creative Expressions to cut the aperture and the frame. In the centre is the bride and groom cut from the Just Married die set from Crafter's Companion.

The congratulations is a Tattered Lace die and the hearts came from the Heart of Hearts die set.

I used the Star Flowers and Leaves dies sets from the John Next Door range to make the flowers and the leaves.

This was a lovely card to make and the paper worked so well.

Gone Fishing - Happy Birthday

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am having a day off from invigilating which is nice as it gives me a bit of time to catch up on things and to start my packing.

I was looking through my files and I found a card I made for our good friend for his birthday. He does love his fishing.

The papers I used are mostly from a lovely pack that I bought in The Works.

This LOTV image came from a pad. I just added a bit of Distress ink.

I have used this Crafter's Companion die a lot this year. I just love that the dot above the i is attached.

Just a quick post today there is lots to do but it is all good fun.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Not Just Cards Challenge blog - November Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead. I am into my second week of invigilating. On Saturday we had a day catching up on jobs. While the weather was good we finished dismantling the shed and swept up all the leaves.  On Sunday we had a day of visiting parents and having a meal with my husband's and their wives. I am so looking forward to our cruise which is in less than a week's time.

The November  challenge starts today at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog and the theme is the ever popular Anything Goes.

This is the commission card I made for our friend's 80th Birthday. If you saw him you really wouldn't believe that he is 80.

I was asked to make this after my friend's wife  saw the exploding box  card that I made for my father-in-law.  The outside was easy to decorate with papers from The Works and the dies from the Nautical scene set from Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine.
Our challenges are fun to enter. If you click on the logo you will be taken to the current challenge.

The ship in the middle is a Tattered Lace die. It is held in place with gel glue that I left to set over night.

Here is a video of the box opening. I am not sure if it will work but I did try.

There is the inside of the box and the lid. I do like making this style of card.

Festive Trio - Card, Tag and Gift Bag all matching

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been., Mine has mostly been filled with invigilating. I did manage a room of children with three different papers and two different end times all by myself. I have one more session this week and some more next week. The weekend will be busy. We will be sorting out things for Christmas and our upcoming holiday. On Sunday we will be visiting both sets of parents.

Here is a trio of matching Christmas items that I made.

I bought the John Next Door Magazine box kit and it came with a lovely Snowflake embossing folder. I used glitter card for one of the mats when you walk past they all catch the light beautifully.

The sentiment came from the Happy Snowflakes set.

To make the flowers I used, from the John Next Door Christmas dies,  the Poinsettia die and the Swirl Poinsettia die. I created the leaves with the Poinsettia die.

I did actually make the bag first the design was in the magazine and it fits a small bottle of liqueur and some sweets. I made the tag to match. This little set will be going to one of my lovely friends that I used to work with.

Lovely Art Deco Ladies Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have been invigilating this week. What with that and trying to get ready for our holiday there isn't much time to craft at the moment. I am hoping to get a bit of time tomorrow and Friday.

Here is a Christmas card I made for a friend who loves Art Deco ladies. I used the image from an old card to make this card.

The backing paper was in my stash and I also found the Art Deco borders when I was hunting for the paper.

My friend will love this image. It was so nice to be able to use this lovely  image on another card.

This sentiment came in in a pad of images that I have struggled to know what to do with.

I was pleased with how this card turned out and I know that my friend will love it. We both craft and this year I have ordered her the Crafter's Companion Dies Advent Calendar.

A Nautical Themed Card 80th Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend?  Wasn't the weather awful on Saturday.I hope you are ready for the week ahead. We had a lovely time with our friends on Saturday. Hal Cruttenden was very funny. On Sunday we collected the hamper list from church and we sent it out to everyone in our group. We just have to wait and see what they want to contribute. This week and next I will be invigilating. This is for the Year 11 practice exams. One difference for me this time is that I will be in charge of a room. We will just have to see how that goes.

I was looking back through my files and I found a card ( I am sure there are many) that I hadn't shared.

This is the card I made for an old friend who was 80 back in October. To be honest it was a bit of a surprise to find out that he was 80.  His wife asked me to make a card for her to give him and I made this one  from us. He has worked on boats all his life so a nautical themed card was appropriate. The background paper came from a pad from the Works.

This is a Crafter's Companion die.

I made this little scene with Nautical Scenes Die Set  from Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine. The anchors at the bottom came from an old card. The 80th was cut with Crafter's Companion dies.

There you have it. I will be sharing this blog post when I get back from invigilating.

Winter Wonderland Challenge Blog - Use Holly and or Ivy

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Welcome to my second post of the day. All my news is in the first post.

The new challenge starts today at the Winter Wonderland Challenge blog the theme is Use Holly and or Ivy in your creation. The sponsor is SheepSki Designs.

I have a bit of a confession. I printed off the image and I coloured it and then made a card I was pleased with, then I checked the theme. Opps I had to start all over again. On the plus side I can use the other card for another design team. If you look carefully at the backing paper you can see that it has Holly on it.

There are some wonderful images in the store click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This image is called Winter Robin and is available HERE. I printed onto Neenah card stock and I coloured the image with my Promarkers. The frame was cut with my Creative Expression's Double Pierced Circles.

The sentiment was cut with a Crafter's Companion die that came with last year's Advent calendar. What I like is that the dot over the i is attached. I have treated myself to this year's Crafter's Companion Advent calendar and I have bought one for a friend.

I made the ivy with Ivy Spray Dies from the John Next Door range. I used snippets of  pale green card that  I inked over it with Distress ink to give some texture.

I do like seeing robins on Christmas cards. This one was lovely to colour. Why not come and join in with our challenge.

Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog - Challenge #69 - Anything Goes and Design Team Call

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Thank you for all the well wishes for my hubby. He is much better now and back at work there is just a bit of a lingering cough. This weekend we are having friends here for a meal on Saturday. After we are all going to our local theatre to see Hal Cruttenden. They do get some good comedians at our little theatre. On Sunday it will be church and we are picking up details of the hamper that our little group will be putting together for one of the families being supported through CAP.

Being the first of the month it is usually busy in blogland. For me there will be two posts today. This is the day that  a couple of design teams I am on have coincided. Next year this will be happening more often more about that later on.

Challenge #69 starts today at the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes. This time the sponsor is Beccy's Place.

I have not one but two cards on offer. I covered the backing paper in this card with washi tape.

Beccy has many wonderful images and sets in her store. If you click on the logo you will be taken there.

This image is from the Sing Joy digital stamp set which is available HERE. . I did use a pre-coloured image so that I could place onto a background I had created on the computer. Aren't those flip-flops just fab. That is just what they will be wearing in Australia around Christmas time.

This is a Tattered Lace die and in fact the first one I ever bought. It was just right for this image.

One last look at this card and then onto the next.

To create the ivy background for this card I used Sam's Star die set from the John Next Door range.

This cute little is from the Christmas Cardinals digi stamp set which is available HERE.  Again I used a pre-coloured image and made my own background on the computer. I do love his cute little boots.

The snowflakes were made with Happy Snowflakes dies set from the John Next Door range.

So there you have both of my cards both with images from Beccy's Place. This month she has a Christmas card challenge on her blog. She is very generous with prizes it is worth entering.
