Alphabet Challenge Letter S - Sweet Treats

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you have had a good week and you are looking forward to the weekend. When this post goes live we will be heading up to Boston in Lincolnshire. We were booked to go to Wakemanfest a weekend of music led by Rick Wakeman himself. Well a few weeks ago it was cancelled because of his ill health. We were refunded for the tickets but we had a hotel booked so we are still going and I am not quite sure what we are going to do. It should be fun anyway.

Today sees the start of a new challenge on the Alphabet Challenge Blog the letter is S and the theme is Sweet Treats. This time it is Team Bs turn to make the inspiration cards.

I used the stamp set that I got free at the Newbury Craft show to create the cupcakes. They were stamped in black and coloured with Promarkers. I did cut them out with my ScanNcut. The background paper came from my stash and I cut the sentiment from an off-cut of the paper.

I did use Glossy Accents on the cherries to make them dimensional and shiny.

Well cupcakes are sweet and they are definitely a treat. There are so many images you could use for this challenge I was wondering about making a Christmas card with candy canes all over it.

I do hope that you have a good weekend. I will let you know what we find to do in Lincolnshire.

Happy Carfting

Delightful Digi's - Christmas Release

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is the new week shaping up for you? Yesterday day I had a very exciting day first I won a prize on Pixie's Snippets Playground and when I checked Julia Watt's blog I found that I had won a card. I have sent them both my address and now I am waiting for some happy post. That was a good start to the week.

Today is exciting for another reason, there is a new release of Christmas images on the Delightful Digi's blog. There are some beautiful images to choose from and there are coordinating backgrounds too.  Click on the link and you will be taken to the blog to see what is on offer.

I started with a 7" x 7" red card blank. I cut all the layers with 1/4 inch increments. For the background I used the Poinsettia background in red. Once I had made all the layers there was a big strip of background left. It was too pretty not to use so I put it across the card layering it up to match the rest of the card,

The image is  called Poinsettia. I love red Poinsettias in fact I have one in the kitchen every Christmas last year's is still there but it is all green now. I really enjoyed colouring this image and it just had to be red I used my Promarkers to do this. To the centres I added Glossy Accents to give them some dimension and shine. I did the cutting out with my ScanNcut I am getting more used to it. Before I put the image in place on foam pads I added a gold ribbon.

The greeting was cut with some Britannia word dies.

I enjoyed making this card. I do find colouring very relaxing. I do hope to make a few more samples to share with you. I have now started my Christmas cards and that can't be a bad thing.

Don't forget to click on the image below to visit the blog to see all the beautiful images for sale.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Happy Crafting.

White Rabbit

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

We are getting closer to Easter and I still have two days at work to go, school doesn't finish until Thursday. How are your Easter plans going?

I made this card for my cousin's daughter who is appearing in a youth production of Alice in Wonderland. We are going up to Suffolk to see the show on Saturday but I have posted the card as I wanted her to get it for the first one of the run.

I ordered some Visible Image stamps recently and this one just popped into my basket it was so right for what I wanted. I started with a 7" x 7" black card blank. I made the background by stamping the Tick Tock stamp that came with the rabbit with CS Perfect Medium and heat embossing it with white detail powder. Then I took the believe from the free set of Visible Image  stamps that came with Craft Stamper magazine last Christmas this was heat embossed with gold powder. The ribbon came from my stash.

The white rabbit was stamped with CS Perfect medium and then heat embossed with a black sparkly embossing powder. I coloured him with Promarkers and I inked round him with Distress ink the image was protected  with a mask while this was done. Glossy Accents was used on the clock face. I love using Glossy Accents and creating my own embellishments.

I hope she likes the card. We are looking forward to seeing the show and catching up with some of our family at the same time. After we will drive all the way home so that we can have Easter Sunday with our daughter and her boyfriend.

We are quite busy over the Easter holiday I fear my little blog will be a bit neglected. So I will take this opportunity  to wish you all a very Happy Easter.

Happy Crafting

Mum's the Word

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I am posting this quickly before we set off to the Make It craft show at Farnborough. We are taking my in-laws who live near the venue. My mother-in-law loves beads and my father-in-law will sit and people watch. The  big treat for me will be buying some storage for my really useful storage boxes to hopefully organize my cradfty stash.

This is my Design Team piece for the  Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog. The theme for the challenge which starts today is Mum's the Word.

I had already made my Mother's Day cards so I decided to make a heart shaped gift for my mum.

This started life as a plain MDF heart. I painted both sides with  white Gesso and left it to dry.
When this was dry I mixed some pearlised PVA paint with some red die to make a pink paint to paint the front of the heart. This was left to dry - I did leave it overnight. It might not need so long but I fit this type of project around other ones that I am doing and that was more convenient this time. When everything was dry I stamped the Clarity Rose stamp No. 84 all over the background with Perfect Medium and then heat embossed it with CS Ivory Fine detail Embossing powder.

This is the  Classic Rose stamp  HCPC3619 by Heartfelt Creations I have only recently bought this stamp . It was stamped and heat embossed and then coloured with Promarkers. I cut it out from the background. I like this stamp a lot I think I will be using it often.

I wanted to use Glossy Accents on the letters and I first tried stamping the letters but everything smudged, I must have used the wrong ink. So I tried again with dies and I was much happier with the results.

The back of the heart  was decorated in a different way I wanted to try applying one sheet of tissue paper to the back with Decoupage glue. I saw John Lockwood using a sanding block to make the tissue the right size I must say it worked a treat. The ribbon was attached with CS Dries Clear PVA glue it didn't take long to hold the ribbon in place and the bond is really strong.

I hope my mum likes this it is a gift made with love. I hope you have a great weekend and that you get a bit of time to craft.

I would like to enter this for the The Crazy Challenge - For My Mom.

Happy Crafting
