Alphabet Challenge Letter S - Sweet Treats

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you have had a good week and you are looking forward to the weekend. When this post goes live we will be heading up to Boston in Lincolnshire. We were booked to go to Wakemanfest a weekend of music led by Rick Wakeman himself. Well a few weeks ago it was cancelled because of his ill health. We were refunded for the tickets but we had a hotel booked so we are still going and I am not quite sure what we are going to do. It should be fun anyway.

Today sees the start of a new challenge on the Alphabet Challenge Blog the letter is S and the theme is Sweet Treats. This time it is Team Bs turn to make the inspiration cards.

I used the stamp set that I got free at the Newbury Craft show to create the cupcakes. They were stamped in black and coloured with Promarkers. I did cut them out with my ScanNcut. The background paper came from my stash and I cut the sentiment from an off-cut of the paper.

I did use Glossy Accents on the cherries to make them dimensional and shiny.

Well cupcakes are sweet and they are definitely a treat. There are so many images you could use for this challenge I was wondering about making a Christmas card with candy canes all over it.

I do hope that you have a good weekend. I will let you know what we find to do in Lincolnshire.

Tattered Lace - Flower Pot Shelf

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you had a good weekend and that you are having a good week so far. I always struggle a bit when the clocks change. The rabbits we had been looking after went home yesterday so I have been cleaning and getting everything back to normal (whatever that is).

I have been busy again and this latest project for Tattered Lace was a bit of a  rush the die didn't arrive  until last Friday. I was sent some laser cuts so that I could plan my makes. I did so well with the prep that everything was in the post the afternoon the die arrived hopefully arriving on Monday morning. It is very exciting being involved with this and some other opportunities have arisen that I might be able to share later on.

As it was a rush I stuck to making just the four projects usually I make one or two more. Once I start working with a die I tend to get lots of ideas of how to use it.  The die I was sent was called the Flower Pot Shelf it is a very pretty die and can be used in many ways. These dies make it very easy to snip away pieces so that they can be used in different ways,

This was my first make I simply cut two of the die in white and I coloured them with my Promarkers. The letters on the bunting were cut with another Tattered Lace die set I had in my stash.

This was quite a simple card. Once I had cut all the squares I cut the die three times in white. I cut off the pots of flowers and I coloured them with Promarkers. This I found was the easiest way to get the colours where I wanted them. It doesn't show very well but I put one of the snails in the bottom right hand corner of this card.

I made another gift bag. I am working on a tutorial for these that I will add to my blog soon. I think the die looks good in silhouette. That little snail is so cute.

I was rather proud of this I had to watch a video on how to make one but being me I had to change all the sizes. I used paper piecing to achieve the colours on this. I though it was a nice cheerful image for a calendar that will be out all year round. I used the calendar as a stopper for the easel part. You could put a gift in the drawer.

The shows are on Create and Craft today I think with Nancy Watt demonstrating. I not quite sure if my projects will have got there in time. The first show is at 10:00 am I will be watching.

I do hope that you have a good week and that the weather is kind to you.

Happy Crafting

Fantasy Stampers - Animal Antics

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Happy Saturday. I have been so busy making samples for Tattered Lace it is nice to get back to a bit of stamping.

Today sees the start of a new challenge on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog and the theme is Animal Antics.

I used two stamp sets from Creative Expressions: Dasher the Deer (Merry Christmas comes with this set) and Christmas Trees (the stars come with this set). This is a tiny 6" x 6" card. I started by cutting all the mats and layers. On the top white layer I used masks and inks to create the background. I also stamped the stars with Perfect Medium and heat embossed them with a silver powder.

I stamped the trees and the deer onto some white card and I used my ScanNcut to cut them out. It does save so much time and does a much better job than I would. The deer were coloured with Promarkers and I removed the antlers from one to make her look more feminine.

To finish off this card I used some Cosmic Shimmer White PVA glue around the edge of the scene and I covered it with Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Jewels Iced Snow and left it to dry.

Well it is the start of half term for me I expecting to do lots of crafting. I have at least one more project to do for Tattered Lace.

If you come back to the Fantasy Stampers Challenge blog tomorrow the winners of the last challenge will be announced.

 Have a great weekend.

Happy Crafting

Tattered Lace - Cute Dinosaurs

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

It is Friday and the weekend is nearly here. Before I forget, the film we saw on Tuesday was Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch,  it was a good film but rather violent.

There are new Tattered Lace shows on Create and Craft today starting at 8.00 am. I was sent two cute Dinosaur dies to make samples with. This is what I came up with:

This is an 8" x 8" card using both of the dinosaurs.

This die is called Dinosaur. I cut the eyes separately in white and added black behind. I put brown glitter card behind.  I had the mottled paper in my stash.

This die is called Stegosaurus.

I made an anniversary card. I cut the Dinosaur die in two different colours and added bows in different places to suggest that they were a couple.

I made a gift bag. The balloons were cut with my ScanNcut. I think this design would be great for a children's party.

I cut the Dinosaur die in gold twice and added matching bows to make them male and female. This might make a fun engagement card.

These are just a bit of fun, bags of dinosaur poo,  really it is Maltesers.

Here are all my makes together. I will try to watch the shows but they start when I am at work.

Have a great day.

The Deer Family are out and about again.

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How has you week been so far? I have had a few ups and downs but mostly it has been good. Tonight we are off to the cinema but we have no idea what we are going to see. Odeon  cinemas have this scheme called Screen Unseen, you book in advance and the tickets are cheaper but you don't know what you are going to see until the film starts. The big plus is that there are no adverts. We have seen some very good films this way. When I do my next post I will let you know what we saw.

I have been rather busy at the moment this is a rather quick card that I am sharing with you today. I am using the Deer Family and Winter Trees die sets again. I just love them and they are so versatile.

Do you remember a Department Store Christmas advert from a few years ago where all the woodland animals gather round a Christmas tree in the forest? That is the image that I have been using as inspiration. The paper was in my stash and I cut some white card to form the snow. The snowflakes were made with a punch. The baubles on the tree were made with CS Berry Red and Olympic Gold PVA. The star was cut from gold mirror card and came from the snowflake set. I trimmed the Seasons Greetings die a bit so that it fitted on to the card. All the dies I used are designed by Sue Wilson.

I cut the Deer Family in a different colour this time.

This stag is magnificent I would like to use him on his own a bit more.

This card was relatively quick to put together. I do love using these dies.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

Where did the weekend go?

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I do hope you have had a great weekend. Mine seems to have gone by in a flash. I can't believe I am sitting here now writing a blog post that I should have written and posted this morning. On the plus side I have got four samples made for another Tattered Lace show at the end of the week. I am hoping to get them in the post on Tuesday there is one more thing that I want to make.

I made this card on Friday as I wanted to try some different with the stag from the Deer Family set of dies.

I wanted to try a more clean and simple style.  I made myself a mask and a moon out of a post-it note and I inked the top layer with two shades of blue Distress Ink. I used my brushes for inking they came from Clarity stamps I am seriously thinking of getting some more.  I drew a line around the inking with my Perfect Medium pen and I heat embossed it with a black sparkly powder. I stamped the Santa and sleigh with a black ink and heat embossed that with the same powder.

I cut the stag out of some black card. Once it was cut and embossed I backed it with some silver card. The tree came from the Winter Trees set and was cut in green and embossed the baubles were made with CS glue in Berry Red and Olympic Gold.

The sentiment came in the same set as the Santa and sleigh.

I hope that you have a great week ahead.

Happy Crafting.

Tattered Lace - Love is in the Air

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

It is Friday the weekend is here. I hope you have got some crafty plans. We are hoping to get some shopping done and visit my husband's parents.

I have been making samples again for Tattered Lace TV shows. I was sent three Tattered Lace dies. the Delicate Love Sentiment, the Flower shop and the Oscar Gown. I didn't have long to make samples and I got them there a day late ( my fault for going out on Saturday). So I am not sure if they got on to any of the shows but two of them were in the gallery on their website.

Of the samples I made this was my favourite. I cut the pink frame and the lattice on my ScanNcut. I cut and matted three panels and I decorated them with flowers cut from the Flower Shop die there are so many flowers and leaves on the die.

This is the love sentiment cut in white and pink it does make a dramatic statement. The pink one was misted with ink to give it a mottled effect.

I made this cute little gift bag too using the Oscar Gown Die.

I hope that you have a great weekend and manage to fit in some crafting. I have got my next lot of dies to play around with.

Happy Crafting

Deer Family Christmas Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. The days just seem to be rushing by not too long and it will be half term for me.

Today I am sharing another Christmas card with you I made  using the Deer Family die set by Sue Wilson. I just love this die set and I love using it.

As you might be aware I have made a version of this card before. This time I tweaked the design a little,  I do like to try out other ideas.

I have been making cards with a starry sky in them and a moon. I was in the Supermarket looking at the Craft magazines when the stamp set and embossing folder on Simply Cards and Papercraft issue 142 caught my eye. What I spotted was this tiny Santa and his sleigh  stamp that I thought would look great flying across one of the moons I have been creating.

This time I cut the Stag in brown card and I added gold card behind to show off the filigree detail.

I did the same with the mum and baby. The trees in the background were cut with a Tattered Lace die.

I was pleased with how this card turned out. I have some other ideas for this die set so you will probably be seeing them again.

I haven't entered any challenges for a while so I thought it was about time. I would like to enter the following challenges:

I hope that the rest of the week is kind to you.

Birthday Card for a Birthday Surprise

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you had a fantastic weekend and got all the things done that you wanted to do. As I said on Saturday we spent the day on the Isle of Wight where we attended the surprise birthday party of an old friend. We had a lovely time and it was good to catch up. Our friend was so pleased to see so many old faces.

I wanted to share with you the card that I made for him. He is really into motorbikes but unfortunately I didn't have an image of one to use and I wanted a vintage feel to the card.

This was a rather quick card to make. I cut all the mats and layers. The top layer was stamping card. I stamped this with the Happy Birthday set of stamps from Visible Image with Perfect Medium and I heat embossed them with a clear glittery embossing powder. Then I inked over the page with three shades of Distress Ink. I was wondering if all the colours work together all the combinations I have used seem to work.

The 60 was cut with some X-cut dies. The vintage postcards I had in my stash and I mounted them to match the layering of the main card. I added to ribbons (also from my stash) around the middle one on top of the other.

We had a great day on the Isle of Wight with our friends. We visited Haven Street steam railway we couldn't go on the trains, because of a private charter, but we had had a good look round this is where I took the photos. After this we headed to Shanklin and had a lovely meal in a pub over looking  the sea. It was then off to Godshill to buy cider and have a coffee. Finally we headed to Arreton, where the party was going to be, we had a drink in a very comfortable pub before we headed to the party. Our friend was so surprised to see us all there was food, dancing and lots of cake. We got the ferry back at 11:55pm. It was a long day but a very good day. We really don't go to the island enough considering how close we live to it and it is lovely.

There you have my vintage themed birthday card. I do hope he likes the card his birthday isn't until Thursday and he was saving all his cards and presents until then

Have a great week.

Fantasy Stampers - Fright Night

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is here! We are off to the Isle of Wight for a party. It is a surprise party for an  old friend who we haven't seen for a while, his children have done all the arranging.  We are travelling there with friends so it should be a good weekend.

Today sees the start of a new challenge on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog and the theme is Fright Night (Halloween). I should point out that I don't really do Halloween it makes me rather uncomfortable.

This is a cute little card just 6" x 6". The stamp I used was Silhouette Owl Tree by Little Claire Designs. I did think that if you came across a tree of owls in the night all making a noise it would be rather frightening.
I started with a black card blank and I cut all the mats and layers, On the top white mat used a mask I had made and inked the page with my brushes to get the purple where I wanted it I also used a post-it note mask for the moon.

This I used Black Soot Distress on this little wooden owl.

The tree was stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a black sparkly powder. The edge round the image was drawn with a Perfect Medium pen and heat embossed with the same powder.

I do love using silhouettes in my cards they give very dramatic results either die cuts or stamps.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

My Special Project

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. I seem to be very busy at the moment but it is all good so I can't complain.

Now I feel I am in the position to reveal the special project that  I have been working on.  I recently applied to join a design team to make samples for Tattered Lace for their television shows. They accepted my application and I was sent some Christmas dies the Owl Tree and Christmas Lights washing line to make samples with. The shows were on Ideal World and Create and Craft on Tuesday and Wednesday this week the 6th and 7th October.

These are the samples I sent in.

I made this tea-light holder using my Hougie board and some heat resistant acetate and both of the dies I was sent.

This is quite a simple card the background was make with my brushes and distress ink and a post-it note moon. One of the mats was red glitter card I used scraps left over to cut the hats.

I cut the tag with my ScanNcut it was one of the preinstalled shapes. I cut the Owl Tree from kraft card I also cut one in black to make a drop shadow. I added colour to the tree and owls with my Promarkers.

This card was in the background on the set. I used both dies again. To the Christmas lights I added Green and Xmas Red Stickles. The stars in the background were stamped and heat embossed in silver.

This gift bag was made with my Hougie board. This  was placed on the counter where the demonstrations where done. The Owl Tree was cut in white and coloured with Promarkers. There is is a black tree behind to make a drop shadow, The background was made with home made stencils.

This is the Sarah Trebilcock showing my tag.

In the display you can see my tea-light holder in the front.

On one of the shows there was a good view of the tea-light holder. I think I might make one like this for home now I have worked out what to do.

This was a very exciting project to work on and it so nice to see your work on screen.  I hope I get to make some more samples soon.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the week. It is nearly the weekend.

Happy Crafting
