Presscut Art Deco Dies for Crafts-Too and John Next Door

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you are having a good weekend. Having seen my parents last week there has been a lot to sort out. I have manged to fit in a little crafting. My A4 die cutting machine finally gave up on Friday. I am working on getting a replacement. I do have the Kaleido but I need an A4 machine for bigger dies. My hubby is being very supportive. I am sure something will be sorted soon.

Here are the cards and other bits I made with the Presscut Deco dies that are being released by John Next Door on the Craft Store at 6.00 pm today.

I do like extending the use of the dies I am given. This is a shaker card with some butterflies in the centre.

Often when I have the coloured card out for one card another card will suggest itself. This time I have made a square card with a rectangular die. This time I made flower with the Small Flowers die.

I think this is my favourite card. I just love the colours and the way the die work. I added  flowers made with the Periwinkle die. I used an off cut from the background paper. The sentiments I used came from the Deco Butterflies die set.

I love making boxes. The acetate I used in this one came from packaging and has gold dots on it. When I had made the box I went out to buy the chocolates to go in it. The colours were just perfect. I added another Periwinkle flower.

Here is a gift bag with more Periwinkle flowers.

This was a fun set of dies to use. Look out for them in other makes. I am sure I will be using them a lot.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I have two weeks of invigilating coming up.

Happy Crafting

John Next Door - Deco Butterflies Day 1

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? We have been okay. One sad thing is that our coffee machine has had to go back to be repaired. It is strange being without it. We bought if right at the beginning of lockdown and there isn't a day when it hasn't been used. I am missing my coffee. Oh well there are obviously bigger problems. Hopefully we will get it back soon.

As you know I am one of John Next Door's Angels. I always wanted to be an Angel. On Saturday there is a release of the the Deco Butterfly dies. Here are two of my makes that feature the larger butterfly set.

The new dies are the big butterfly and the Dream. I used lots of John Next Door older dies to make this card. The background behind the lattice is inky kitchen roll stuck onto card.

Isn't that butterfly magnificent. I did a little paper piecing you really could do a lot more.

I used the Tatty Daisy die for the flower the centres were made with the Cornflower die set. I did ink the middle of the daisies before adding the stamen die cuts and a pearl.

I do love these sentiments. This one was cut twice to give a drop shadow.

I don't make many things like this but the butterflies look lovely on a wall plaque. I made the background myself with inks and then I stamped over the top of the ink when it was dry.

Those butterflies are glorious.

Here is one last look at the card. I will be back tomorrow with some more makes. If you are on Facebook there is a group called Crafting with John Next Door and Crafts-Too. It is a private group so you have to ask to join. All the makes from John and the other Angels will be there. All the Facebook lives happen there as well. Click HERE to visit the page.

Have a good weekend.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - the theme Love/ Valentine's

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? I had a day catching up with job yesterday. Today I am going out with a friend. We both like crafting so we might come back here and make some things together after lunch.

Being the first Tuesday of the month the new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog. The theme is Love/ Valentine's. This is just the right time of year to be making this kind of card.

I used an old card to make this card. The flowery rose paper was inside the card and fitted my card nicely. I cut the aperture with my Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions.

This is such a cute image. The die I used for the sentiment is one from Tattered Lace. I don't know if they still make this one, The ribbon with the bow came from another card. So there was lots of recycling in this make.

I will be sending this card to my cousin. She is going through some treatment at the moment and I want her to know that we are thinking of her. She love hedgehogs she often posts pictures of the ones that come to her garden on Facebook.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Moving Along with the Times Challenge Blog (MAWTT) - Theme Love

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

This is a busy morning there is a second post from me. As you can see the new challenge has started on the Moving Along with the Times Challenge blog and I am the host this time. I chose the theme of Love. It just seemed like the right time of year what with Valentine's Day coming up. But you don't have to stop there. So many other types of cards could be made for anniversarys, weddings, engagements or just to let someone know you care.

I made an anniversary card for my husband. Our anniversary is in April. It is fine for me to share his card as he doesn't read my blog or do Social Media. We had a huge break through when he agreed to do WhatsApp and now we can have family chats and he doesn't get left out.

I started with the image from an old card. I used the colours from the image for the mats and layers. The last grey layer was embossed with the Heart Lattice embossing folder from Creative Expressions.

This image came from a large card. I thought it might look a bit like us on one of our trips.

This is a signature die.

This image came from another card. I used the Heart of Hearts die set to cut the hearts.

Now I have just got to remember where I have put this card when our anniversary comes. This year it is on a bank holiday so we will be able to send the day together.

A Special Anniversary Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? I have been very busy as it usual these days.  There is still so much to do for the wedding. This is my 500th blog post that is amazing and a lot of cards.

I was contacted by one of my cousins and I was asked if I would make a card for her to give her parents on their 65th Wedding Anniversary. I am not sharing the card I made for her yet but this is one I made to send them myself. They are my aunt and uncle after all.

I based the design on the Valentine's Day card I made for my husband. I had the background paper in my stash. On the Valentine's card I used glitter and I would have done the same on this card only I didn't have any blue glitter. I will have to do something about that.

I used the Heart of Hearts die set and the Love Heart die set both from Creative Expressions to make the main focus of the card.

I cut the sentiment with some Britannia dies.

I will be posting this card to them  in a couple of weeks. I sent the card to my cousin yesterday so she should get it soon, I hope she likes it.

Valentine Hearts

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? We actually managed to sneak off to the cinema on Tuesday evening to see Passengers there was a 2 for 1 offer at our local Odeon. My husband got home early and we dashed off to catch an earlier performance,  it was very enjoyable.

While there is a slight lull in wedding makes (I have supplies on order for the invites) I thought I ought to start thinking ahead to cards I might need in the not too distant future. Well February and Valentine's Day are not far away so I decided to make a card for my husband. We usually give each other cards and have a nice meal usually the M & S meal deal.

I started by making all the mats and layers.

Then I started playing with my dies. I used the Heart of Hearts die set and the Heart Love die set both designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions. I remembered that I had bought some Distress Glitter in a sale. I know it is pink but I decided to use it anyway. I was just going to use it on the love die but I liked it so much I used it to edged the Heart of Hearts dies. I didn't use the heart detail this time I embossed the hearts instead.

The sentiment was cut with a Britannia die. The text layer was a late addition to the design but I think it shows off the hearts nicely.

So this card is now hidden in a drawer. I can blog and share it on Facebook as he never looks at those.

Enjoy the rest of the week. Take care,

All We Need is Love

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I have been away for a while there has been so much to do. We had a lovely Christmas and I hope you did too. Our daughter was with us for Christmas Day and her boyfriend joined us on Boxing Day. If all goes to plan they will be in their own house next Christmas. I think it is going to be a very exciting year. Of course I will let you all know what happens.

I was going through some of my old files and I came across this card that I hadn't shared. I had submitted it to go into the Tattered Lace Compendium but it didn't get included. One of my other projects was included but I didn't get a credit but I did get an apology.

To create the background I used the Bargello technique using two types of paper. I created a frame with with  a square die.

I used the Tattered Lace Delicate Love Sentiment die  which I cut  twice so I could create a drop shadow and then I mounted it on some cut ovals the smallest of these I embossed.

I am not sure when I will blog again. I have some deadlines for Tattered Lace over the next few days. It is a good job my husband needs to rest a lot to help his wrist mend.

Tattered Lace - Love is in the Air

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

It is Friday the weekend is here. I hope you have got some crafty plans. We are hoping to get some shopping done and visit my husband's parents.

I have been making samples again for Tattered Lace TV shows. I was sent three Tattered Lace dies. the Delicate Love Sentiment, the Flower shop and the Oscar Gown. I didn't have long to make samples and I got them there a day late ( my fault for going out on Saturday). So I am not sure if they got on to any of the shows but two of them were in the gallery on their website.

Of the samples I made this was my favourite. I cut the pink frame and the lattice on my ScanNcut. I cut and matted three panels and I decorated them with flowers cut from the Flower Shop die there are so many flowers and leaves on the die.

This is the love sentiment cut in white and pink it does make a dramatic statement. The pink one was misted with ink to give it a mottled effect.

I made this cute little gift bag too using the Oscar Gown Die.

I hope that you have a great weekend and manage to fit in some crafting. I have got my next lot of dies to play around with.

Happy Crafting

Fantasy Stampers - Distress It

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are ready for a great weekend. I wonder what you have planned? I am going to be working on the wedding invitations that I keep putting off. I need a good long time to craft and all my meals provided.

This is my inspiration piece  for the Fantasy Stampers Challenge "Distress It" that starts today. Why not come and join us and see what the rest of the wonderful design team has created for your inspiration.

This is not my usual type of card but I quite enjoyed a change in style. I had the backing paper in my stash and I distressed the edges with scissors. I had the hessian ribbon for a while as well it was nice to use it. I used two scraps of paper behind the stamped image and I aged them with Distress ink. I think I use Distress ink in every card I make  I just love the colours and their names.

I stamped the Clarity stamp Live Love Laugh with Black Archival. I stamped a verse stamp round the edge with Perfect Medium and then heat embossed it with white powder. Then I inked over the piece with another Distress Ink. Finally I distressed the edge of the paper with scissors.

Stop watch stamp was from stash I stamped it with black archival  I cut it out and covered it with glossy accents.

This little stamp came with the stop watch I stamped it with black archival a few times I cut them out and covered them with glossy accents. You probably already know that Tempus Fugit is latin for time flys.

I think this might be a card for a man I might add another sentiment when I decide who it is going to.

I hope the rest of the week is good for you.

Butterflies in Love

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are enjoying the weekend. I am  really looking forward  the Portsmouth Craft show tomorrow. I am hoping to buy lots of crafty stash and meet up with one of my crafty friends for a bit of a catch up.

I have had this design in my mind for a while. With my husband being out most of today I had the chance to create it. I used lots of Snippets and it has butterflies so I would like to enter the Challenges on the Butterfly challenge blog V is for Valentine and Pixie's Snippets Playground week 163.

I like the idea of filling a page with squares and making them look a bit like stamps. None of the elements are too large so it is a perfect opportunity to use lots of snippets. I am on a quest to use up my stash of tiny useful bits. The background paper is in the style of an old French newspaper.

I used Sizzix dies to cut the heart and the letters. The scalloped square was cut with a Spellbinder die.

The butterflies were also cut with a Sizzix die.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Flowers and Bows

Hi Bloggers

I am using a laptop borrowed from my husband's work as our desktop, Old Faithfull, has decided to give up the ghost. I can check things on my phone and my Kindle but they are no good for updating your blog.

Todays card is one I made for a challenge. I wanted it to be fresh and summery using what I think of as  ice-cream colours.

The main background was inked with Distress Inks and then embossed with the Rows of Bows Pinpoint A4 embossing folder by Sue Wilson. The dies I used were  Sue Wilson's classic bow die, it does make a lovely bow , the Faux Quilled leaves and the Delicate daisies die set. I made the tiny envelope myself and stamped a little sentiment.

I used some Creative Expressions stamps to make this background I wanted it to reflect what I had put on the back of the card,

This weekend it is Keith's Dad's 90th Birthday. The big family party is happening on Sunday and on the actual day a group of his friends have a celebration planned. On a different note my cousin applied for our Great Uncle William's name to be read out at an event at  the Tower of London honouring those who fell in World War 1, his name will be read out tomorrow.

I hope you all have a good weekend.

Happy crafting.

Hugs Jackie

Gorjuss Lots of Love Card (and we all need lots of that).

This is my first post this week and I won't be posting next week (unless you want to see pictures of me on a school residential)!

Back to the card I made this for a sketch challenge on Do-Crafts. I like doing challenges from time to time as it stretches  what I can do. This one took ages to make as I kept changing my mind. The flowers are die cut leather,I got some at the Farnborough Craft show last week and I was itching to have a go. My Sizzix Bigz die cut through the leather like butter they are stuck down with turbo tacky glue by Aleene's that glue will hold anything. I had some left over bits form a Do-crafts Gorjuss kit and the colours all seemed to go together. The ink used is Distress ink which seemed just right for this project.

Here is the sketch for the challenge that ends on 18th March.
This is the sketch for the challenge which closed on 18th March. Click here to be taken to the challenge.

I was lucky enough to win this challenge. I was thrilled.

Thanks for looking at my blog..
