Pollyanna Pickering Barn Owl with a Snippets Background

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? We went on a couple of longer walks and we did a bit in the garden.  Not much longer and we will be able to meet with 6 people outside. I am so looking forward to meeting up with our daughter and son-in-law and their new dog and having a walk together.

I have been sorting through some of my craft supplies. It is not surprising that I came across lots of Snippets of paper to use up. I used some of the ones from Creative World of Crafts papers to make the background for this card. I do get a obsessed with an idea especially when it means using things up.

This is how the topper comes from a pad. I just made it a black mat. I do love images from Pollyanna Pickering. That Barn Owl is so cute. She did leave a wonderful legacy.

I am often asked for cards with owls on them by someone who runs a Brownie pack. It is good to have a few in hand. The sentiment can be added later when I know what occasion the card will be used for.

Have a good week.

Barn Owl Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are things going for you? Have you ventured out anywhere different or further away? Have you had people round to socialise in your garden? We haven't changed what we are doing much. We are still shopping for a few people. Next Wednesday we have booked to go to Exbury Gardens.  You have to book ahead for a specific time. Only a few people are allowed in each hour. My husband is taking a days leave so we can do this. I am still a bit nervous about it.

I was looking through my files and I found the birthday card that I made for my cousin. I tried to make him one before this one  and it turned out rather feminine. I sent that one was sent to one of my other cousins.

I do love images by the late Pollyanna Pickering. I chose the image from one of my pads. Then I chose papers to match the image. I found an Ivy Border die from Creative Expressions I cut the die twice using a pale green card. I darkened the die with Distress Ink.

This is a gorgeous image of a Barn Owl by Pollyanna Pickering. He looks so cute peeking round the corner.

It is raining today. The garden does so need the rain. We still had our walk this morning that is what waterproof coats are for.  I will be colouring with Barbara Gray a bit later.

Pollyanna Pickering Owl - Thinking of You

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a great weekend. For us Saturday was quite quiet. We did manage to have a nice lunch out. Our Saturday evenings are now filled with Strictly Come Dancing. We know some very good friends of Emma Barton and we have met her. So we are following her progress on the show. I must say I am really enjoying the shows. On Sunday we had a trip to Aldershot to have a finance meeting with all my husband's brothers, spouses and his parents. There is nothing to worry about it was all forward planning. After we had a meal out together. The plan is to make these meeting regular.

I made this card for a friend who has recently lost her mum . I do just love images by Pollyanna Pickering.

The papers in the background came from a pad of papers from Creative World of Crafts. The colours of the papers suited the image so well.

This owl is so cute. I have a pad of images I still have a few of these owls left.

Have a great week.

Cards made with Pollyanna Pickering images

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? The start of my week was quiet. Today my husband has the day off so that his car can be looked at. We are going to take the opportunity to visit the tea-room where he will be having his birthday in August. There are a few choices to make. I will be helping at a Felting Workshop on Friday. On Sunday we are travelling up to Warwick so that we can attend my aunt's funeral on the Monday.

I decided to make to cards with one of my Pollyanna Pickering image pads.

I used the Deckled Rectangle dies from Spellbinders to cut out part of the image and a black mat for it. The papers came from a pad by Creative World of Crafts.

Here is a close up of the cut out section.

I did exactly the same with the owl image.

He is a gorgeous Barn Owl.

As yet I haven't added sentiments I will do this when I know who the cards are going to.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you. Have a great weekend.

Two masculine cards made with Pollyanna Pickering images

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? We really made the most of our extra day at the weekend. We popped out in the morning. First to the garden centre for a coffee and a piece of cake to share. The real reason for going there was to buy another plant for our garden. Then we went to Halfords and my husband bought new windscreen wipers that he fitted when we got home. The new plants for the garden were planted. The potted Christmas tree was repotted. I sorted out the weeds on our drive. My husband also did some filing. It was a good day of catching up on jobs.

I really do like images by Pollyanna Pickering. I think the ones I have chosen this time make fantastic masculine cards.

I decided to make a Father's Day card for my dad. Since the summer when he was very ill his short term memory has been affected. The strange thing is he is very happy now much happier than he has ever been and he says nice things now which he never used to do. I think he will like this image of a tiger.

The card is on the side and when I walk past it I always think how much I like this tiger.

This is a Signature die. I have had it for a long time and I use it for just about every Father's Day card I have made.

Someone from our church was rather ill. It was suggested that I make him a Get Well card. If you notice I used the same backing paper and ribbon for both cards.

This owl is adorable.

Here are the two card together. I really do like those images a lot.

A Quick Get Well Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you are having a great week. The weather was just amazing yesterday. I was helping at a Wet Felting Workshop and we were able to have our coffee break in the garden. I felted a soap. You can see it HERE.

In the light of our son-in-law breaking his elbow I needed a Get Well Card. I turned to my stash of Pollyanna Pickering papercraft kits. He received the card on Tuesday. Yesterday he went back to the hospital and the cast came off. He has a small break and he has to be careful. No lifting and only short drives. This is amazing as he will be able to go back to work. He did like the card.

Last week I was looking at the backing paper wondering about when it would be useful, well yesterday it was. It took two passes of my Tattered Lace alphabet to get all the the letters for the sentiment. The die came free with a Tattered Lace magazine, some time ago,  the letters are a good size but the B doesn't cut properly. Fortunately this time I didn't need any B's.

The topper comes in a pad all done and ready to go. I just trimmed the edges and matted it with black.

There it is nice and flat for posting and it is on its way now.

Retirement card using my favourite Pollyanna Pickering Snowy Owl picture

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your weekend going? Yesterday we went up to London to attend a friend's 60th Birthday party. It was lovely to have a catch up. Today we are meeting our daughter in Southampton. She is starting a new job tomorrow and she wants some new work clothes. I want to treat her to a new work bag.

I can't believe this is the last day of September. I realised if I did one more blog post this month I would do better than I did in August. My friend retired last week and I decided to make her a card.

I made the card this way so that I could use one of the matching inserts. The background paper came from an american paper pad that I have had for a while. The doily's I have had for a while too. I really am trying to use things that are in my stash.

This has to be my all time favourite Pollyanna Pickering picture of a Snowy Owl it is gorgeous. I still have a few left on the pad from Creative World of Crafts. I used my Spellbinders matting and layering dies to cut the image and the mats I used.

This is a Spellbinders poppy die I often go back to this die even though I have other poppy dies.

The picket fence is a Marianne die. The sentiment was cut with a Britannia die.

I will get this in the post on Monday. It should be nice and flat for posting. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. It is October tomorrow.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) - Wild Animals

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Just a quick update. As many of you know my father was taken into hospital last Sunday. He was severely hydrated. He is still in hospital and still on a drip. There is a problem with his heart and he is still rather confused. My mum is very needy and requires a lot of support. We have tidied the house and made sure all the food is fresh. So far we have visited each day and taken my mum to visit my dad. My poor husband is working mornings coming home and taking me to Fleet and then to and from the hospital. We get back home late evening.  It is exhausting. All this is why I am not around much at the moment.

Today the  new challenge starts at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog and this time the theme is Wild Animals.

As soon as I think about wild animals I go to all the images I have by Pollyanna Pickering. I have the A Winter's Day Decoupage Popper Pad and I like owls. I chose the Barn Owl image from the pad.

Please join in with our Wild Animal challenge.

I took one of the sheets and I die cut the owl with a Spellbinders Deckled Rectangle die. Then I cut a black mat for it with the largest die in the set. Then I realised that it would fit back onto the original sheet from the pad.

I matted and layered and added a sentiment. Card done.

A nice thing happened  when the girl who comes to do my Sport's Massage saw this card she asked if she could have 5 of them. She is a Brownie pack  leader and she wanted them for her fellow leaders. I have made all the cards now. At the moment she is out in Italy supporting one of the British Women's Cycling Teams.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Always Fun Challenges - theme Male/ Dad

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I hope you did something nice. We manged to remove most of the ivy from our garage. We attended a barbecue for people investing in cows for a farm in France. The cows have been bought and will be travelling to France in August. On Sunday we went to the Portsmouth Papercraft show and I met my crafty friend Sandy.

Being Monday the new challenge starts at Always Fun Challenges. The theme this time is Male/ Dad. As Father's Day is not far away it is time to share all those makes.

This is the card I made for my husband's birthday.

Our challenges are always fun.

I printed the image from a Creative World of Crafts  CD which is full on Pollyanna Pickering images. I printed the paper from the CD too. The aperture and frame were cut with the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions. The ivy was cut with another Creative Expressions die set.

The sentiment came from a paper pad and it was mounted on the a flag cut with the Stitched flag dies from Creative Expressions.

Always Fun Challenges - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead. We dashed to the tip on Saturday (we had loads of garden waste) then to M&S to get nice food for the weekend. We were home in time to watch the wedding which was so lovely. We know Windsor quite well and we have even been to a service in St George's Chapel so that made it all rather special. The weather played its part too. The rest of the day we spent in the garden and my husband fitted in another trip to the tip with even more garden waste. On Sunday we visited the Poppy Wave installation at Fort Nelson near Portsmouth. In evening we had friends round to share a curry. It has been a good weekend.

Being Monday the new challenge starts at Always Fun Challenges and this time the theme is the ever popular Anything Goes.

I am often asked for cards featuring owls by my friend who runs a Brownie Pack. They make great cards for other people too. The packing paper came from a paper pad from Creative World of Crafts. The die for the branches came from Crafter's Companion.

Why not join us for challenge 59 the theme is Anything Goes.

This is another fabulous image by Pollyanna Pickering. We are so lucky that she left a large body of work behind her.

My go to Happy Birthday die for Crafter's Companion.

My favourite Pollyanna Pickering image of a Snowy Owl

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? You will be pleased to know that we signed up for one cow when we saw our friends on Friday. I might be able to post pictures of her  from time to time. I want to call her Rosie but my husband  isn't so sure. The weekend was a mix of shopping and gardening. Plus the amazing electrical storm we had Saturday night.

Last week was Pollyanna Pickering's funeral. It is so sad that she has gone. On that day I decided to make a card with my favourite image of hers. I had this one as a puzzle before I knew about the paper kits and DVD roms. I just wanted to have some time to reflect.

I used the Sandwich box dies from John Next Door to make the lattice in the background. The paper underneath is from Creative World of Crafts.

As I have said this is my favourite image from Pollyanna Pickering.

The sentiment came from another Creative World of Crafts pads and I used a Sue Wilson die to cut the tag from the backing paper.

This is a Spellbinders poppy die.

I am sure that whoever I send this card to will love it. I have a few of these images left I am going to be careful where I use them.

Owl cards made with Pollyanna Pickering images

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I hope it is going well. I must say I am quite relieved that the snow has gone. It does seem to have taken a while for the supermarkets to restock with the basics.

From time to time someone I know who is a Brownie Pack Leader asks for cards with owls on them to give to the other  leaders for their birthday.  I was asked recently and then I found I needed to make some more. Where better to go than my collection of Pollyanna Pickering images.

To add to this gorgeous image I added the small corner lattice dies from John Next Doors Sandwich box die set and the star flower leaves.

I used the corner dies again and papers from Creative Crafting World.

I have had this Card Popper pad for a while. The images are brilliant for quick cards and married with the matching paper pad.

This owl came from the same pad.

Lots of people like cards with pictures of owls on them and these cards are a good size for posting they are going to be very useful. in fact one of them is in the post already.

Enjoy the rest of the week. It is hard to believe the snow was on its way last week.
