Nativity Christmas Cards using an LC Designs Stamp and Distress Oxide Backgrounds

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Well that was a busy weekend. I hope you had a good time and did something nice. On Saturday I went to a Craft Workshop for most of the day. My husband got my car to the garage to be fixed, it needs picking up today. Then he drove to Aldershot to collect his 90 year old mum. He drove her to Mottisfont so she could see the Kaffe Fassett textiles exhibition. After lunch they came home and waited for me to return. Then he drove us back to Aldershot to collect his dad. Then we all went to Farnham for my husband's brother's 60th Birthday party. Yesterday we went to the first rehearsal for a Christmas choir we have volunteered for to sing  at Church.

I have been making cards with Distress Oxide backgrounds again. I do love Distress Oxides.

I made fourteen cards altogether. I started by using Distress Oxides to make backgrounds on water colour paper. You put the Oxides on your craft mat, spritz them with water and run the card through. You just repeat until you are happy with the effect. I did dry the sheets with a heat gun so the layers of ink are dry before applying the next layer.  I used the Falling Snow embossing folder to create one of the layers.

I used my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to stamp the image and the sentiment at the same time. The stamp is called Silhouette Manger by LC Designs. Once stamped I coloured over the image with a black Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to so the image sparkles.

I made ten of these small cards. I wanted them for the small group we meet with.

I have been having a bit of a think about blogging and why I do it. I do like sharing what I make and I enjoy being on Design teams and entering competitions. But the blog has become a bit of a time consuming monster and weirdly I am finding I have less time to devote to it now I am not working. I think it is because I can say yes to more of the things I want to do.  So I think I will be blogging less and commenting less. I wonder if I will be able to stick to this? There is also  a pile of cards that hasn't been used so I don't need to make as many at the moment.

Happy Crafting

Hugs Jackie

Fabulous cards Jackie. I'm sad to hear you may blog less but I do get where you are coming from. It's not so much blogging yourself but commenting on others blogs especially when they are so kind and put such lovely comments on yours. That's why I had such a huge break a few months ago. Then when Dad died the time just extended so it was about six months. I still looked to see what everyone was doing but I didn't blog myself or comment on everyone's blogs. It's not until you stop that you realise hoow much time it takes up. I tend to get drawn in and before I know it half the day has gone. Like now hahahaha. Xxx

Lovely work Jackie. I know what you mean about a time consuming monster that a blog can be. I recently started back to a full time job, I am so far amazed that my blog keeps going....it's sometimes a lot of pressure

Gosh your husband was a busy man this weekend.
Love your collection of Christmas cards. I have not used these oxide inks yet, I love my distress inks so really should give them a try.
I agree blogging is very time consuming and I am struggling at the moment to keep up with my blog and also commenting on other blogs too. I wish sometimes there were more hours in the day to fit in all the things I would like to do.
Enjoy your week

Hi Jackie,
Beautiful cards and such super gorgeous backgrounds.
yes I agree blogging can be very time consuming especially with my eyes as if it''s a site I haven't been to before I have to enlarge the print.
Also I can't seem to limit my words to just a few.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Beautiful cards Jackie, I love the oxides too. I find it hard to keep up with blogging too, I love commenting on everyone's projects but it does take up a lot of time. Cathy x

Stunning cards Jackie and the backgrounds are wonderful. Crafting should be fun and I don't blame you at all for choosing to let blogging take a back seat. I love commenting but it is time consuming without a doubt. Stay happy! Shabneez x

Totally understand about the time commitment for a blog.
I too am retired and seem to constantly need more hours in each day to get everything done. lol

Your car is lovely. it is a great stamp for batch baking. The distress oxide backgrounds look fabulous here.

Beautiful cards, Jackie - the oxide backgrounds are perfect for your silhouette stamp. I am way behind with blog commenting because of my holiday - blogging can cause pressure and be vey time consuming! xx
