Fantasy Stampers - Steampunk

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is here! I hope you have something good planned. If we can we are going to try and tidy the garden before winter. Though the leaves on the Magnolia are all still green and firmly stuck to the tree. They usually all come down in November - bliss. It is a very pretty tree for two weeks in the Spring so I suppose it is worth it.

Today sees the start of a new challenge on the Fantasy Stampers challenge blog and the theme is Steam Punk. Now I have to admit that this was rather out of my comfort zone and I am not sure that my card really fits the bill but it was lots of fun to make.

The stamps I have used are the All Geared Up Background stamp by Heartfelt Creations and the White Rabbit Gorjuss set by Docrafts. I started with a  8" x 8" kraft card blank and I made all the mats and layers. The top layer was white stamping card.  I took the All Geared Up stamp in my hand and I randomly stamped over the page with Perfect Medium and I heat embossed with a silver powder. I did the same again with a black ink and this was heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Finally I inked over the page with Rusty Hinge Distress ink (great name for a colour).
.

I stamped the Gorjuss girl from the White Rabbit set onto white card with Black Archival ink and heat embossed it with a clear powder. She was coloured with Promarkers and then cut out. The face of the clock was covered with Glossy Accents.

Here you can see the detail of the All Geared Up stamp. It has many cogs and screws in the design. It was stamped on to  white card with black archival and heat embossed with a clear powder. Then it was inked all over with a silver ink. To finish the card I used two Spellbinder dies to add extra detail to the design,

There is no sentiment on this card as yet I am not quite sure when I will use it.

I do hope that you have a great weekend and that the weather is kind to us all.

The new challenge on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog starts today it is fun to join in if you check back tomorrow the winners will be posted.

Happy Crafting

Hugs Jackie

Brilliant card Jackie, it fits the steampunk challenge perfectly. The Heartfelt stamp is so detailed and I love the way they have used the cogs and gears to make the windows and fences.

I'm so glad you gave it a go, Jackie - I love your finished card. The background stamp is fab and the mount compliments the railings perfectly. Little Miss Gorjuss just finishes your card off nicely - a great attempt at Steampunk.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, hun.

It is gorgeous in the proper sense of the word! I love Gorjuss and must get around to buying some of it. Your card is the perfect mix and not too weird-y steampunk (if you see what I mean!)

I'm with you on the theme but it is good to be taken out of our comfort zone occasionally.
You made a great card, a softer take on steampunk. :)

Hi Jackie
I know where you are coming from, not too sure on the steam punk stuff either but I do like what you have done with this card. The girl could be quite cute in a different setting but looks perfect to fit this background. Great for a teenage card. Thank you for sharing. Love Diane xxxx
