My very own Homegrown Sunflower

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? I have been busy getting ready for the Open Studios event at the weekend. There have been quite a few things to sort out. Today I should be setting up ready for Saturday but that depends a bit on the weather. My hubby has taken the day off so he can help me. He did need to use up some of his leave. It's not like we can go anywhere.

I love taking pictures of flowers I have done this for years. I don't usually do anything with the photos this year I decided to try them on cards. Here is my first effort.

The backing paper was in my stash. The die I used for the corners is a  Spellbinders die.

This is my own sunflower that I grew from seed. We went to a garden centre the day before they were closed and I bought some miniature sunflower seeds. They have been grown in pots on the patio. I hope to save some of the seeds to grow next year. The birds can have what is left.

I am going to put this card into the sale along with some others with my photos on. I will let you know how I get on. I am not really expecting to sell very much.

Cute Hedgehogs posting a Christmas card in the Snow

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? It was so wet and windy yesterday. We had a Eat Out to Help Out meal with our friends yesterday. We booked it early on and it was hard to get a booking. In the end we booked for a very late lunch. It was a very nice meal though. Today I am visiting the lady who is opening her house and garden as part of the Hampshire Open Studios event. She is allowing me to have a table of cards. We will sorting out the final details.

I have been practising  my colouring again. I do like using my pencils and I find that I can colour much smaller images which in turn means the cards I make don't have to be so large. This is much better for postage.

The backing paper came from my stash. I added a couple of snowflakes cut with Sue Wilson's dies.

This image is from Di's Digis but it doesn't appear to be in the shop anymore. I coloured those cute Hedgehogs with my Faber-Castell Polychromo Colouing pencils. The mats and layers were cut with the Double Pierced Square dies from Creative Expressions.

This is a a super cute card. I will save this one for my cousin and her partner as they both love seeing the hedgehogs in their garden.

Pretty Roses in a Vase

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Ours went to plan. It was nice seeing my in-laws on Saturday and the vacuum cleaner was sorted out. Then on Sunday after our online church service we went to Lee-on-Solent. This is about a 20 minute drive from where we live. We had a walk along the beach. You can see the Isle of Wight from there and there were lots of people out sailing. It was so lovely to have a walk somewhere different. When we got back we put the cards I am putting into the sale next weekend  in plastic bags along with envelopes. Tomorrow I will have a go at prices them. When that is done I will be ready for setting up on Friday.

Here is another pretty little card that I made from an old card.

I thought the roses were so pretty. I cut the image down so that it and its mat would fit inside the frame made with a Spellbinders die. The lace was in my stash. The pink patterned paper you can see behind the lace is the back of the main patterned paper that I used. I have a big box of 6" x 6" papers and they are all mixed up I can't remember where they came from.

This is such a pretty image. I was able to make the bottom of the card into a tag.

There you have it another card for the sale.

Waterfall Nautical themed 96th Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? We have had lots of rain. Yesterday was a nice sunny day. The rain is back this morning. I hope we get some nice weather at the weekend. We are off to see my in-laws to help them with their vacuum cleaner. We are going to have some discussions about their garden as some work that needs doing on some trees.

This is the card I have been working on for my father-in-laws 96th birthday.

I do like to make him a card that is a bit different in some way. This time I thought I might try a waterfall card. All the papers used came from a paper pad from The Works.

I made this little underwater scene with a die set that came free with Die-Cutting Essentials magazine. The numbers are John Next Door dies.

This image came from a card in fact it was one that my father-in-law got for his 90th birthday. He had seven cards with this image and I have just used the last one.

This is the waterfall mechanism. I got the idea from die set from Die-Cutting Essentials magazine. I used the die that came with the magazine to make another card. Then I made this with a scoreboard so that I could make it a bit bigger. I used dies from the Nauctical Scenes die set to decorate the panels. The mechanism does work  I tested it.

I was quite pleased with how this card turned out. I have plans to make an under the sea card I like the bit in the bottom corner.

Have a great day.

Pretty Flowers in a Vase

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I went for a walk with a friend yesterday. We had a coffee in Costa and we walked in the rain. We came back to mine and I made us lunch. It was nice seeing her and having a chance to catch up.

I have been struggling to craft but I have been enjoying colouring with my pencils. So in the evening sometimes now I sit and colour some images that I have printed.

I found a backing paper in my stash that went with the colours I had used on the image. The lace was in my stash.

I coloured this image from Conie Fong with my Faber-Castell Polychromos. They are lovely pencils to use.

At the moment I am trying to make a waterfall card for my father-in-laws birthday in September. I will let you know how I get on. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Cute Little Hedgehogs in a Line

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? We had a quiet day on Saturday. There were lots of jobs around the house and garden that we caught up on. In the garden I harvested 1kg of potatoes that I had grown in a pot. We had some them with our dinner on Sunday they were delicious. On Sunday we had a walk to our local country park to see the field of sunflowers there. We did see the sunflowers but we also got caught in the rain. Later we went to have a cup of tea with our good friends. Sunday was a good day.

I have been tidying my desk and going through  my files and I found this cute little card that I hadn't shared with you.

The background paper and the ribbon was in my stash as well as the buttons.

This is an image stamped with a Little Clair's stamp set. It is such a shame they are no longer in business. I coloured the stamped image with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I did do this some time ago I found the image when I was doing some tidying. I no longer colour with those pens but I use them to make backgrounds.

This is one of the cards that I will have on sale at the Hampshire Open Studios event. SeaDrift Studio where I will be showing some cards will be open Bank Holiday weekend.

A Bit More Time to Craft - Challenge #122 - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your week. Mine was a bit odd. On Thursday my hubby went into his office to start clearing his desk. If they ever go back to the office no one will have their own desk. So it is better for my hubby to clear the desk now before it is cleared for him. When he got back we had lunch in our local tea shop. You have to book. It was very nice we will have to do it again sometime.

The new challenge has started at the A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge blog. The theme is always Anything Goes and there are wonderful digi papers to be won.

For this little creation I used the Hue Digi papers for the background and the flowers. The flowers were cute with the Cornflower die from the John Next Door range. I also used the Star Flower Leaves from the same collection. The friendly little sentiment is from Crafter's Companion.

Our challenges are lots of fun. Why not join us? Click on the logo and you will be taken to the Challenge blog.

I have made a few cards like this one. I think they are nice to send to let someone know you are thinking of them.

Enjoy your weekend.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Hasn't it been a hot week. We did get down to the coast on Monday evening. It really isn't too far from where we live. I shouldn't have been but I was surprised how many people were there. We stayed there with our friends until it was dark. It was so cool there I even needed a cardigan (nice).

Beccy's Place - Precious Memories

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? It has been very hot down here in the South. I am looking forward to a bit of rain. The garden really does need it.

I am one of the Blog Contributors for Beccy's Place. Because of this I receive beautiful images to use. The Precious Memories set was simply gorgeous and a joy to use.

There are  many wonderful image sets and lots of inspiration at Beccy's Store. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This is the Precious Memories set that I was sent. Isn't it gorgeous. It is available HERE.

Here is the card with a colour chart for Promarkers. I loved adding the lace, hessian and doily.

I made a twisted easel card. with the other image.

Here is the Promarker colour chart for this card.

For my last card I used the pre-coloured image that I printed twice so that I could cut out the flowers. I thought they would look rather good around the inspirational quote.

Have a good day.

Happy Crafting.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - August Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? It is still hot here. I really don't do much when it is hot. My laptop is in need of replacement. It gets hot very quickly and I have to leave a while to cool down. We have just started looking for a replacement. I do hope the laptop holds out until we get a new one.

Today sees the start of the the August challenge at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog. Our theme is always Anything Goes.

I made this card for a very special friend. In the background is some of my inky kitchen roll. I do love the blend of colours you get on kitchen roll when you are tidying up.

Our challenges are always Anything Goes. Click on the logo and you will be taken to the blog.

This is the centre of the Butterfly frame dies set from Creative Expressions. I have only used this die set once before. I really should use it more often. There is a separate butterfly die that comes with the set.

This is another Creative Expressions die. I do find this one very useful,

This is a very pretty card and my friend loved it.

Enjoy the rest of the week

Bee Happy with Tatty Daisies

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Was is hot like ours? On Saturday our daughter and son-in-law came with afternoon tea. Even now we still have leftovers and we sent them home with some bits too. On Sunday we had a quiet day. Being so hot it was hard to do much.

I treated myself to a copy of Die-Cutting Essentials magazine a couple of weeks ago. I really like the honeycomb background die that came free with the magazine.

I have lots of Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. The brushes are now damaged and are hard to colour with. The pens are still full of ink. I have taken to making backgrounds with them. The colours are lovely and the extra bit of sparkle is nice.
I used the Tatty Daisy die with the Rose Leaves from the John Next Door die range to make the flowers across the middle of the card. I added Candi to the centre of the flowers.

Here is the background die from the magazine. The bee I won as a prize. The heart in the corner comes from the back of the bee.

This sentiment comes from a Dovercraft die set.  I have used it a lot this summer. I do love putting bees on cards.

I was pleased with how this card turned out. I am very pleased with the background die. It is a useful addition to my bee related die collection.

Sherry West Guest Design Team Member - Back to School Poppi Pokkadot Colouring and Craft Contest

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

We had a lovely day for my hubby's birthday yesterday. We visited the Weald and Downland Museum which is where they film the Repair Shop. You can't visit the barn where the filming takes place but you can see a bit of what is going on. We saw Dom doing some spraying outside we have no idea what he was working on. Later we saw the teddy bear ladies, Dom and Steve all posing on a cart. It will be interesting to see if any of that makes it into the programme. We really enjoyed the museum they have some wonderful buildings there and the grounds are great to walk around.

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I would like to be a Guest Design Team member for Sherry West ART. Well I jumped at the chance. The initial term is for three months. For August I have been given four images to work with. The first one is Back to School Poppi Pokkadot. She is a free image for a colouring a craft competition on Facebook. You can reach the event HERE.  The image is free to download in the event.

Isn't she just so cute. I enjoyed colouring her with my Prismcolor pencils. I do find that I have a lot more control when I am colouring with my pencils. I have learnt a lot from Barbara Gray. I cut thm image and it's mats with some Tattered Lace Dies. The Numbers and Letters are Crafter's Companion dies.

Our daughter and son-in-law are coming today. It will be so good to see them and they are bringing afternoon tea.

Winter Wonderland Challenge blog theme follow the sketch and Embossing

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been?  We had a meal out on Wednesday with the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme. It was so weird sitting in a restaurant after so long. Today is my hubby's birthday and we are off the the Weald and Downland museum. Our tickets are booked. We keep being reminded of it when we watch the Repair Shop and it isn' far from us. In the evening some friends are coming to supper. On Saturday our daughter and son-in-law are coming with afternoon tea. That should be nice too. I will let you know how we get on.
The new challenge has started at the Winter Wonderland Challenge blog. The theme this time is to follow one of the two sketches and to include some embossing. The Sponsor is Dr Digi.

Now you have seen my card. I have a bit of a confession. Well I was so intent on following the sketch that I didn't included any embossing. I was pleased with how the card turned out and I didn't really have time to make another card. I hope I am forgiven for my oversight.

Here are the two sketches to follow. I adapted the first one to suit a square card. I like square cards.

There are many wonderful images in the store. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This image is called Selfie Santa and it is available HERE.  The image was printed onto Neenah Card Stock and was coloured with my Prismacolor Pencils.

The sentiment I found in my stash.

There you have it. They are rather lovely sketches to follow. Why not give our challenge a try.

Nautical Card made with Snippets

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Things just seem to be getting busier and busier. I don't know about you?

I was looking through my files and I came across this cute little nautical card.

From time to time I have been having a sort out of some of my stash. I had lots of strips of nautical themed patterned paper. I used these to make the background for this card.

The scene was created with the Nautical Scenes die set that came free with a magazine.

I have been making a few things for the sale at the end of August this is one of them. I had a meeting about the sale with my friend yesterday. Her garden is beautiful and a pleasure to sit in,
