Pop-up Box card for a 90th Birthday

Hi Bloggers

I made this for my father-in-law who will be 90 next month. He always likes the cards that I make especially if they have an unusual shape I think he will like this one it has all his favourite colours.

It is quite a large card I made it from a sheet of A3 card that divided nicely into 10cm sections with 2cm left over for a tab to join the box together. This time I remembered not to score the back panel in half meaning that the background stays upright.

I did lots of matting and layering. The blue mat I embossed with the Sue Wilson Checkboard PinPoint embossing folder it give it some texture. My father-in-law is partially sighted and he enjoys things that have texture.

This shows the slats that hold the dimensional elements I used a clear acetate to make it look like the stars were floating.

This is the detail on the front panel. I kept checking to make sure I was putting it in the right place.

This shows the detail of the die cuts . The stars were made with a dies that came free with a magazine and  the 90th was from an X-cut die set.

Don't forget this type of card will fold flat for posting.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Happy crafting

Hugs

LOTV Thank You Card

Good morning Bloggers

What a damp Bank Holiday we are having at least it is a day off and if you can't get out you can always craft.

I made this thank you card for the lady who looked after our rabbits while we were on holiday.

It is quite a simple card. The branches and leaves were some Spellbinder dies I had I often use these dies they are very useful.

The Thank You was a Clarity stamp I used two shades of Distress ink to colour it I haven't done this before but I like the effect.

This is the insert again done with Clarity stamps, they do do very sharp detail, and the same two shades of ink.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog.

Happy Bank Holiday

Good Morning Everyone.

Weren't Sam's show good on Saturday, she certainly looks blooming. Did you spot any of my cards? I did make rather a lot but then you always need a lot of cards at Christmas.

This is my latest offering for Sam's Design team  a Shaker card and I am very pleased with how it turned out. I have used exclusively Sam's stamps to create this card.On the Creative Studios by Sam Poole site there is a full description of how to make this card.

Enjoy the rest of the week. Thanks for looking. Hugs Jackie

Engagement Card for a Happy Loving Couple

Hi Everyone

The weather is being a bit changeable today one minute storms next minute sunshine and everything else in between. I am spending today catching up on jobs that I have been neglecting for a while. Don't worry I will be back to crafting soon.

Today's card is an Engagement card for a gay couple who decided a few days ago to tie the knot after being together for 10 years.

This card owes a lot to one created by Sue Wilson there is even a video tutorial to go with it. It uses the Bevelled Glass striplet die that was designed by Sue Wilson and gilding flakes.

It isn't exactly the same I made my flower from leather using the Tattered Florals BigZ die by Tim Holtz it is amazing how often I go back to this die.

Thank you for looking. It is all change over on Do-crafts so I'm not sure if I will get any visitors this week.

Sam Poole has two shows on Create and Craft on Saturday 16th August at 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. I have sent in some samples that will be featured on the show. In my last post there is a picture of the things I sent.

Thanks for stopping by.

New Home Card

Hi Everyone

We have had a busy week our daughter moved home last weekend, she and friends are renting a house together. My husband and I have done our fair share of helping. I made this card to post to her at her new address.

Eventually there will be four bunnies in the house and when I found this LOTV image in my stash I thought it was ideal. The embossing folder was a Sue Wilson one and the corner dies were by Tonic. I used Britannia dies for the sentiment.

I thought you might like a sneak peak of the cards and bits I sent off to Sam Poole for her shows on Create and Craft on Saturday the times are 10.00 am and 4.00 pm.

Have a great week. I hope to be back sometime soon.

Have fun.

Dasher the Deer in a Pop -up box

Hi Everyone

I hope you are enjoying the slight change in the weather. My poor garden has been crying out for the rain, personally I hope we see a bit more sun.

Today I am sharing my latest Design team post for Creative Studios by Sam Poole. I have never made a pop-up box card before and I was pleasantly pleased with how this one turned out. There are lots of online tutorials for how to create one of these I choose one that was easy to follow and used that.

There is lots of matting and layering to do on all the side panels. I used up lots of fiddly little bits of card that had been laying around for a while in my crafty stash. All the stamps I used: the stars, the trees and the Merry Christmas are all part of Sam's new range of Christmas stamps.

This is the detail on two of the side panels.

This show the slats that hold everything in place. I put the snowflakes (that had been cut with Spellbinder dies) onto acetate to hold them in place. I used a very strong wet glue and I left it to dry over night.

Here is Dasher he was coloured by Promakers. I did reinforce his antlers with some card behind them.

Finally this is the card folded isn't it brilliant that they fold flat. Next time I will make sure my snowflakes don't extend outside the folded box as this will make it easier to put in an envelope. Also I wouldn't score the back panel so that it makes a better backdrop for the card.

Thank you for looking.
