65th Wedding Anniversary Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week so far? Not too long and we will be at the weekend and we will have an extra day off to enjoy. I will be working on the wedding invitations again. Though I am planning to have at least one day to go out and have some fun I do hope the weather is kind.

I was asked to make a 65th Anniversary card at short notice last week. I have asked and it is OK for me to share the card. The stone for a 65th Anniversary is Blue Sapphire just like the 45th Anniversary. So it had to be a blue card.

I love my Spellbinder corner dies they deboss and well as emboss.

I used a piercing ruler on one of the mats this then matches piercing on the die.

The sentiment was cut with Britannia dies. I added a heart to balance the design.

This what  my table looks like when  I am working on the wedding invites

I   die cut 100 steering wheels and 50 anchors.

The lady I made this card for was very happy with it. I do seem to be getting more commissions.

Enjoy the rest of the week. Not long till the weekend.

Happy crafting

Cardz 4 Guyz - Flight

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I do hope you are having a good week here we are at Tuesday already. We are off to the theatre tonight. The local  theatre did a good offer on a murder mystery play and it would have been rude not to.

This is my last Guest Design Team card for Cardz 4 Guyz this time the theme is Flight. I have really enjoyed making the cards for this months challenges.  I find I am more creative when I have a theme to work to. I do hope they will have me back sometime. Why not come and join in the fun?

The design started with some vintage pictures of planes and that set the tone of the card.
I had the backing paper in my stash I loved the strong colours and the bold lines.

I had a few similar images and I did want to use them all on the card. In the end I decided it was all too cluttered so I settled for just one focal image.

I stamped the sentiment with Sepia ink. I have been using this stamp a lot lately. I have the Spellbinders matting basics dies and this stamp fits well inside one of the smaller ones and it is easy to make a mat for it.

I have a hot air balloon die and I used it to cut a page from an old music book I inked through the die before I removed the paper. Other elements on the card were cut from a 12" x 12" page and inked them to make them look older.

I have really enjoyed being Guest on Cardz 4 Guyz. I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

Scribble and Scrap Challenge 43

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Yes I am back again this weekend,  this time with my Design Team Inspiration for the  Scribble and Scrap Challenge 43 the theme is always "anything goes". Why not join in there is always a prize?

I saw John Lockwood demonstrating when I was at Ally Pally he made a card with this design. I bought the dies (Sue Wilson - Ornate pierced Rectangles ) and had a go myself. There is another matching die set and I might just have to buy that one as well.

You can use the dies to make a card blank but the card  can't be too thick I used Creative Expressions foundation card. You get a nice pierced edge round the card without the effort, I used a sticky sheet to add CS Glitter Jewels Iced snow behind the filigree detail of the dies. I stuck the sticky sheet to blue card so the glitter had some colour behind it.

Flower was made with the Sue Wilson delicate daises dies I love how you can cut a border for the petals.I cut four layers and added a flat back pearl to the middle. Behind the flower I put some leaves cut with the Faux Quilled leaves die.

The sentiment was cut with  tattered lace die it was just the right size for the card.

This card really sparkles when it catches the light. I enjoyed making my own card blanks I think I will be making many more.  I have even been thinking about Christmas card ideas. Oops maybe it is too soon to mention the C word.

Update on the Wedding Invitations -  they are going well.  So far I have been mostly die cutting,  today I hope to get inky.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

Fantasy Stampers - Distress It

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are ready for a great weekend. I wonder what you have planned? I am going to be working on the wedding invitations that I keep putting off. I need a good long time to craft and all my meals provided.

This is my inspiration piece  for the Fantasy Stampers Challenge "Distress It" that starts today. Why not come and join us and see what the rest of the wonderful design team has created for your inspiration.

This is not my usual type of card but I quite enjoyed a change in style. I had the backing paper in my stash and I distressed the edges with scissors. I had the hessian ribbon for a while as well it was nice to use it. I used two scraps of paper behind the stamped image and I aged them with Distress ink. I think I use Distress ink in every card I make  I just love the colours and their names.

I stamped the Clarity stamp Live Love Laugh with Black Archival. I stamped a verse stamp round the edge with Perfect Medium and then heat embossed it with white powder. Then I inked over the piece with another Distress Ink. Finally I distressed the edge of the paper with scissors.

Stop watch stamp was from stash I stamped it with black archival  I cut it out and covered it with glossy accents.

This little stamp came with the stop watch I stamped it with black archival a few times I cut them out and covered them with glossy accents. You probably already know that Tempus Fugit is latin for time flys.

I think this might be a card for a man I might add another sentiment when I decide who it is going to.

I hope the rest of the week is good for you.

Dragonflies Times Two

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Not too long and it will be the weekend. Don't the weeks seem to be rushing passed quickly. I do like the longer days I feel like I can get so much done. I have set time aside at the weekend to get on with the wedding invitations I have been asked to make, I do keep putting them off,  but then I do keep being asked to make other cards. I will get them done in time I would never let anyone down.

On to today's cards, I got a free dragonfly stamp and matching die with a magazine and I decided to have a play with them. I would like to enter it for Pixie's Snippets Playground - 173 as you can see from the design lots of snippets were used in both cards.

This is actually the second card I made, I do like this one more. The background had been laying around for a while since I made another card it hadn't work so well so it needed to be covered up a bit more. The paper was inked over with Distress ink and then spritzed with water and dabbed with paper towel to remove some of the moisture.

This shows the detail of the stamp. I cut a plain dragonfly to put behind the stamped dragonfly.

The sentiment was stamped with  a stamp I had in my stash  I inked round the edge and matted it on to black.

This is the first card I made. I had the the backing paper for a while and I thought of it immediately when I got the stamp and die set.

This time I cut a mauve dragonfly to put under the stamped dragonfly. The greeting was stamped straight onto the paper.

There are the two cards  near to each other. They are both 6" x 6" cards and nice and flat for posting.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Cardz 4 Guyz - Football Crazy

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope your week is going well. I am now back at school but as someone was telling me at the weekend it is not long and we will have a bank holiday to enjoy.

This is my Guest Design Team card for Cardz 4 Guyz  the theme for challenge 67 is  Football Crazy and anyone can join in so why not have a go. I would like to enter it for Challenge 24 at Crafting Musketeers which is "It's a Man's World".

I started with the LOTV image. I found an image of a football pitch to use as the background. This is a tent fold card made from an A4 sheet scored in half .

Although the image was pre-printed I did add some more ink to it  and I cut it  out with a die to make it the size I wanted. This makes it easier to make the mats for it  as well. The football sticking out from behind the image came from a failed attempt to print a background but the ink ran out on the whole sheet but the football was OK.

I added the sentiment to the side of the image but it seemed like there was too much empty space. I had received the free alphabet dies with a Tattered Lace Magazine and I decided to cut out some words in white to fill the space.

I am pleased with how this card turned out. I will have to think of someone to send it to.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Congratulations - Visible Image Butterflies

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Well here I am at the end of the Easter holidays. I must say this has been a brilliant holiday. We have been to Suffolk and seen my cousin's daughter in Alice in Wonderland. We also visited Sutton Hoo while we were there. Then I had a brilliant time at Ally Pally followed by Beatles Day in Hastings. This weekend we have been in Sidmouth on our church weekend away. But the icing on the cake has to be that our daughter has just got her first full time permanent job which she starts next week.

I am so proud of her so I made her this card with some of my favourite visible image stamps.

I just love these stamps they stamp so well.

I started by stamping the border with the flower head that comes with the Congratulations Stamp set. I used two shades of Distress ink and then I head embossed them with clear powder. Finally I inked over the mat with a paler shade. I must admit I only decorated the edge as the middle of the mat was going to be covered.

I stamped the Inkognito Butterfly on the top mat then I heat embossed it with clear powder. I stamped the large butterfly on a separate piece of paper, heat embossed it, cut it out and stuck it over the Inkognito butterfly just by the body so the wings could be raised up.

Here is the finished card. I did enter it into the 3000 Likes competition on the Visible Image Facebook page. They are having competitions to win stamps all weekend. I hope the rest of the weekend is good for you. We will be heading home after lunch ready for work on Monday.

Triple Stamping Experiment

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

It is getting near the end of my Easter holiday from school. I have had a really good time I think it has been enhanced by all the lovely sunny weather. Of course not being at work is great.

This card is the result of an experiment I had with the triple stamping technique. I was reminded of this technique on John Lockwood's blog my attempt is nowhere near as sophisticated as his.

Add caption
This is quite an interesting technique where you cut the kraft card  mats and lay them together to stamp on them. When the card is assembled the mats are spaced out.

The pattern of the stamping lines up to some extent.

The centre of the card was quite different. I had a third stamped layer but it just didn't look right so I changed it to incorporate some die cutting.

I will have another go at this technique I have learnt a lot making this card. I do love a good experiment.

We are away in Sidmouth this weekend. I do hope the weather stays nice while we are away. Then it is back to work on Monday.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. What are you up to?

Butterflies, Music and pictures from Ally Pally

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I had just the best weekend. We went to Ally Pally on Saturday  and I met some lovely people and I bought lots of crafty stash. Then on Sunday we went to Beatles Day at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings with two friends. Altogether it was a stella weekend. There was not much time to craft though. I am still on Easter holidays which is fab. I might get a bit of time to catch up. We are away again next weekend this time in Devon.

I made this card to enter the Butterfly Challenge #28 Butterflies and Music Notes. I would like to enter it for Pixie's Snippets Playground - 172 I used a few snippets to make this including the page of an old music book.

I made the background first using  Visible Image butterfly stamps. I stamped the large and the small butterfly with Walnut Stain and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink they were then heat embossed with a clear powder. I inked over the page with Old Paper Distress ink and inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I cut a square from a page of an old music book and I stamped the large butterfly with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and heat embossed it with clear powder.

I cut the Tattered Lace Music die from some snippets of  white paper and added them to the design.

Here are some of my photos from Saturday at Ally Pally.  It is an amazing building, where they hold the Big Stamping and Scrapbooking show twice a year.

This is Pam Smith she is on the Creative Expressions Design Team. I got to know her when we were on Sam Poole's Design Team together.

Mark and Helen from Visible Image they make wonderful stamps. Mark told me that he sits in the evening cutting out the stamps by hand, that is dedication.

John Lockwood he is also on the Creative Expressions Design Team. He was so nice to me, I did bring him jelly babies, he gave me some dazzlers.

Jenny Redfern she is a freelance demonstrator and she was on the Samuel Taylors stand. I got to know her through Facebook. It is so nice when you meet Facebook friends in real life.

Julia Watts and Phill Martin both on the Creative Expressions Design Team. I got to speak to Sue Wilson as well, mostly about cruises, but I didn't get a photo.

Finally this is Florence she recognized me from Do-crafts site it was lovely to put a face to a name.

My stash from the show I can't wait to have a play.

Just a quick reminder of the card I made.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
