Butterfly Birthday Card and matching Bookmark

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I am trying out new blogger I am not sure that I like it much. How are you getting on? The weather has been lovely. Our garden is proving to be a delight. Last year we treated ourselves to a table and chairs set for the garden. This year we have been able to have a lot of meals outside.

My friend's birthday was a week ago. The present I ordered came yesterday and we delivered it on our walk this morning.

Here is the card I made for her. The background is some inky kitchen roll stuck to card.

This is the Butterflies in Flight Mini Striplet die from Creative Expressions. I cut the separate butterflies and put them behind the panel to make the butterflies stand out. I cut three of them to fill the card.

I added the sentiment to the card.

As I didn't have the present I decided to make a matching book mark. The die set seems to lend itself to making bookmarks. I was lucky that there were enough leftovers to make it.  My friend loved her card and bookmark and was very understanding about the delay with her present.

I hope that you have a good weekend.

Beccy's Place - Encore Week - Bird Song

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? My hubby is still working at home. We are still shopping for a few people. I am still doodling. Things in the garden are coming along nicely. Soon we will be able to have lettuce in our sandwiches. I have just planted some potatoes. I don't usually do things like this but I figured I would be home to look after them this year. I can't see us going on holiday at all.

This is Encore week at Beccy's Place the set of images I was sent to use was the Bird Song set. I loved using these images. They came in very useful for cards I needed to make. Today, being one of Beccy's Blog Contributors, I am featured on the Blog. As you can see HERE.

I love the main image just as it was. I added some extra papers and some die cuts using the Leafy Flourish die set from the John Next Door range. The sentiment is one of his dies too.

I created a background on the computer for the bird silhouette. The sentiment comes with the set. That ribbon has been in my stash for ages but it looks great here.

Here is the main image again on a much simpler card. It does work well.

Finally another card with the silhouette. I added a sentiment from another of Beccy's set and the music notes were die cut. There is that ribbon again.

There are still images from the set I haven't used. I think I will be using this set a lot.

Enjoy the rest of your week

The May Challenge for the Rudolph Days Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How did we get to the end of May? This weekend coming it will be our daughter's birthday, mine was at the beginning  of the month. I suppose we will have to video call like we did for mine.

Well today the new challenge starts at the Rudolph Days Challenge. I do try not to miss one of the challenges as I do like to keep on top of my Christmas Card making. At the moment I am not making so many cards a lot of my time is now spent doodling with Barbara Gray. This week we will be off on our travels again. I have a feeling it might be a Safari. I have given up saying I can't do that I just give everything a go.

I just love robins on Christmas cards. I couldn't resist the image on an old card.

This is a Crafter's Companion die.

I used the Piece by Piece die set that came free with a magazine a while ago to cut the black mat and the puzzle pieces. I like to offset some of the pieces so that it looks more like a puzzle. I always enjoy using this die set.

Here is another card for my stash of Christmas cards. I really should make some more.

A Thank You card using my prize from the lovely Holley

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? Have you changed anything you are doing? Next week is half term I wonder how many people will rush to the beach if the weather is nice. Only time will tell. For us we will be staying home and looking after our daughter and son-in-laws pet rabbits. How they got here is another story.

This is a little card I made to say thank you to Holley for the lovely prize that I won in her month of celebration back in February. In case you are wondering I won the bee die.

This card went all the way to America to say thank you. Tomorrow it will be featured on Holley's Blog. Where I will be the Guest Designer. Here is a bit of a confession. I used up lots of bits from my craft desk to make this card. The backing paper was used in another project.

The cornflowers were left over from the box card I made for my cousin back in April. I used the Star Flower leaves dies and the Ivy Spray dies from the John Next Door range to make the foliage.

This sentiment comes with another die set.

So here is the die set I won. The great thing about this one is that there are two dies so it is easy to cut a layer to go under the black outline of the bee. I used Promarkers to colour the body.

Holly really liked her card and asked if she could feature it on her blog. Of course I said that was okay.

Thinking of You Doodle Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are things going for you? As I said last week things aren't much different for us. My hubby is still working from home. We are still shopping for a few people. I am growing so many things in our garden. Later on we will be able to have a salad! There are also lots of birdy visitors. We haven't appreciated our garden as much before. I am so glad that we have it.

A lot of you will know that I have been following the Doodle sessions that Barbara Gray does every weekday at 10:00 am on Facebook. Later they can be found on YouTube. I have been inspired to make a few cards that I have drawn the images for. This is the first one. I needed a thinking of you card for a lady from church whose husband died. He did have Covid 19 but it was his underlying health conditions that were the problem.

I made the lovely background paper. I found it when I was tiding. I have no idea how I made it. I would really like to make some more. There are a few sheets left. The candy in the corners is made with the Cogs dies from the John Next Door range.

I used my Double Pierced circle dies to draw the circle. This meant that after I had cut the circle out I could easily used another of the dies to cut a mat for the image. The pattern in the circle is one that we learnt when doodling. I drew the seed heads and leaves first with pencil and them with a Micron pen. Once everything was dry I used Distress ink  with a brush to colour the image. I also used Distress ink to paint the border.

I hope the lady, I sent this too, liked it. I have no idea how she is coping. I think I will be making a few of these cards.

I hope you have a good week.

Happy Crafting

Hugs Jackie

A Bit More Time to Craft - 15th May Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is everything going? Has much changed for you? My hubby is still working from home so is our daughter and son-in-law. We haven't visited any of the  places that are now open.  We would love to go to the tip but it will be so busy and we do have places to store things. We are wondering about signing up to the county garden waste scheme.

Today the new challenge starts at the A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes and there are some fantastic digi papers on offer as prizes.

This is the leaving card I made for someone at my hubby's work. I used the Light Music digi papers.

Our challenges are fun and the papers on offer as prizes are gorgeous. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

I generated the sentiment on the computer. I was able to use some of the paper in the background. I like how you can change the size of the pattern easily with digi papers. As they are stored on my computer they are easy to find when I need them.

This is the first Tattered Lace die that I bought. It has been very useful over the years.

Rob did like his card. He and my hubby are still in touch. We are doing online Murder Mysteries together. The last one finished on Saturday and we actually got both of the Murderers right.

Stay safe and well.

The Anniversary card I made for our Anniversary at the beginning of April

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are you getting on? Things are changing slightly. We aren't rushing out to the tip or the Garden Centre and my hubby can still work from home. Not much is changing for us.

As the title of this post says I made this card a while ago and I am not sure why I haven't got round to sharing it before.

When I made the gift bag and card for my friend I rediscovered my oriental paper pad. I used some of the paper on this card.

The image came from an old card. The bears are so cute. I cut the image and the mats with the Double Pierced Rectangle dies from Creative Expressions.

This die is a Signature die. I have used it a lot.

My hubby did like his card. On the day we had a take away pizza. It is interesting what has become a treat now.

I hope you all stay safe.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - May Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Here we are at the beginning of another week. I hope you are all okay. It was my birthday at the weekend. I did have a lovely day. It strange how the simple things now seem to be so important. I was in touch with all the people that I care most about and that is what matters. We have also been doing an online Murder Mystery and the interrogation of the suspects was on Saturday evening.

Today the May challenge starts at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog and the theme is Anything Goes.

I was asked by a friend to make a gift bag and card for a one of their friends whose 50th Birthday Party they had been invited to. I made the gift bag to match the packaging on the gift that had been purchased. The papers I used are from an old set from Do-Crafts. The decoupage was in the set too. The card stock I used came from Anna Marie designs. I bought some 12" x 24" card from them and it is very useful for larger projects. It was nice to have something other than a card to share for the Not Just Cards Challenge blog.

Why not come and join in with our challenge. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

Here is the card that I made to match the bag and of course the present. I used the same paper set. I have had the papers for ages. It was good to use them. I used a mix for dies to personalise the card and the gift bag.

This is the picture our daughter drew for my birthday. I am a huge Star Trek fan. We knew her hubby was a keeper when he wanted to come to Destination Star Trek with us.

In the end the party was cancelled and these things had to be posted. As the plans for our friends and our plans had changed we invited our friends round for a meal and that is the last time we saw them. Of course we have kept in touch with Zoom chats. It is just isn't the same.

Under the Sea with the Fishes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are you doing?  I wonder what will be announced on Sunday. We are still plodding along. I am growing lots of things in the garden. Some of them we will be able to eat. The people over the road have started selling eggs which is nice. They have got ten chickens which was a real surprise for us.

A little while ago I treated myself to Issue 64 of Die-Cutting Essentials magazine. I really like the look of the Under the Sea die set that came with that issue.

Yesterday I had a chance to play and this is what I made.

This quite a small card and I really did raid my scraps pile to make it. I used leftovers of two of my inky backgrounds.

I only used the die set to make this little under water scene. The little fish are so cute.

This will be another card for my stash. I am sure someone will like to receive this card.

I hope you have a good day. I think there are lots of online celebrations to join in with.

A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are you getting on? Life is certainly strange. My hubby had a doctors consultation yesterday he had to send photos and then have a chat with the doctor on the phone. It was all done and dusted quite quickly. He is fine nothing to worry about.

I made this card with the leftovers after I made another card for a friend.

The card blank was made with the waste from the other card. There was enough of the inky background left to go behind the die and to make the butterflies. The die I have had for a while and this is the first time I have used it. It is the Butterflies in Flight Mini Striplet die from Creative Expressions.

The extra butterflies come with the die set. I did cut the striplet again and cut the butterflies from it so the free ones had some definition. To go behind these butterflies I used the Leafy Flourish dies from the John Next Door range.

This is the the striplet with an inky background. These background are made from gluing inky kitchen roll to some paper.

There is no sentiment. I might add one when I know who the card will be going to. It is good to have some cards like this in your stash.
