Anything but a Card - A Box

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for the week ahead. This is a scheduled post we are on our way to Malta. Life has been so fraught I am looking forward to some time away.

Being Monday the new challenge starts at Always Fun Challenges and the theme is Anything But a Card. So I made a box. I am no longer on the design team but I thought I would share this anyway.

Recently it was my mother-in-laws birthday and she likes chocolate. We have taken to buying bars of chocolate for her they just needed a box to show them off. I had a sheet of A3 patterned card and it was just right for this box.

To decorate the top I used all dies from John Next Door.

Here is the chocolate in the box.

One final look at the box. That is all from me until next time.

Happy Crafting

Crafty Catz Challenge blog - Anything Goes with the optional twist of Use Something Yellow

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you have had a good week and that you have something nice planned for the weekend. We  have arrived at the weekend where we set off to Malta. I have scheduled a couple of posts while I am away and I will catch up with everyone when we get back. I might me able to share a few photos.

We have put things in place so we can still go to Malta. As far as I know my dad will still be in hospital when we get back. We will have to come up with a solution for supporting my mum. I really am hoping to enjoy the break.

Being Friday the new challenge starts on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog this is our last challenge before our summer break. The theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Use Something Yellow. The sponsor is Bugaboo.

There are many wonderful images in the store. Click on the logo ad you will be taken there.

I made the sunflower with a Spellbinders die set.

In the image there is a tiny dragonfly this gave me the excuse to use my John Next Door dragonfly dies. When I used them it made me want the butterfly dies from the John Next Door range.

I do like yellow I used quite a bit of it on this card.

Pollyanna Pickering Kingfisher Christmas card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? We are in the process of getting ready to go to the wedding in Malta. There is still quite a bit to sort out.

That is what I wrote when I scheduled this post when I was trying to get ahead, Life has flipped. My dad is still in hospital he had a pacemaker fitted yesterday. He now has mobility issues and I know that he can't come out without a care package. He was acting as carer for my mum who we are now supporting. We need a permanent solution at the moment I am not quite sure what that means. This is the reason that I am not around much, I am going to have to make some difficult decisions about my crating.

I have challenged myself to enter all of the Rudolph Days challenges this year. This is my card for the July Challenge that starts today and ends on the last day of the month.

I decided to use the same design that I used for the Barn Owl card from the same A Winter's Day Decoupage Popper pad. This time I wanted to make a larger card. So I turned to my Creative Crafting World paper pads to add the extra detail.

I used the Deckled Rectangle dies by Spellbinders to cut out the kingfisher and the black mat.

This is my go to small Season's Greetings die from Tattered Lace it  is such a good size for small spaces.

I think I might make a few more cards like this they are nice and flat for posting.

Always Fun Challenges - Colour Inspiration

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I hope you are ready for the week ahead.

A quick update on my dad. He is still in hospital his sodium level is down to normal and his potassium are rising. There is now a problem with his heart and he is waiting for a pacemaker to be fitted. We are travelling up everyday to Fleet from Southampton. We feed my mum and take her to visit dad, take her home put her to bed and get home about 9:00. My husband works in the morning before be travel up he is using his annual leave. I think this will be going on for a while. Because of all this I am stepping down from this Design Team and there maybe some others I am afraid.

Being Monday it is time for the new challenge at Always Fun Challenges and this time there is Colour Inspiration.

When I saw the colours they made me think of a baby card. I wanted to make another tri-shutter card for a baby girl and this seemed to be the ideal opportunity.  The shape is easy to make and make and fun to decorate. I used a selection dies to decorate this card.

This is the colour inspiration.

Why not join our challenge they are always fun.

One of our nieces is expecting and now I am ready with a card.

Happy Crating

Crafty Catz Challenge blog - Anything Goes with the optional twist of Use Dies or Punches.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has the week been for you? Are you ready for the weekend? We have this weekend to get sorted for the trip to Malta for the wedding.

The new challenge starts today on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Using Dies and Punches. The sponsor is A Day for Daisies.

I used papers from a paper pad by Creative World of Crafts. The frame was created with the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions. I use a butterfly punch to create all the butterflies.

There are many wonderful images in the store. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This image is called Tender Thoughts and is available HERE. She was printed onto Neenah card stock and coloured with Promarkers.

I will add a sentiment when I know who I will be sending this card to;

Have a great weekend. I will be back soon with a second post today.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) - Wild Animals

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Just a quick update. As many of you know my father was taken into hospital last Sunday. He was severely hydrated. He is still in hospital and still on a drip. There is a problem with his heart and he is still rather confused. My mum is very needy and requires a lot of support. We have tidied the house and made sure all the food is fresh. So far we have visited each day and taken my mum to visit my dad. My poor husband is working mornings coming home and taking me to Fleet and then to and from the hospital. We get back home late evening.  It is exhausting. All this is why I am not around much at the moment.

Today the  new challenge starts at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog and this time the theme is Wild Animals.

As soon as I think about wild animals I go to all the images I have by Pollyanna Pickering. I have the A Winter's Day Decoupage Popper Pad and I like owls. I chose the Barn Owl image from the pad.

Please join in with our Wild Animal challenge.

I took one of the sheets and I die cut the owl with a Spellbinders Deckled Rectangle die. Then I cut a black mat for it with the largest die in the set. Then I realised that it would fit back onto the original sheet from the pad.

I matted and layered and added a sentiment. Card done.

A nice thing happened  when the girl who comes to do my Sport's Massage saw this card she asked if she could have 5 of them. She is a Brownie pack  leader and she wanted them for her fellow leaders. I have made all the cards now. At the moment she is out in Italy supporting one of the British Women's Cycling Teams.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Sent with Love Gerberas and Butterflies

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? As some of you will know my dad has been taken ill and is in hospital. My mum needs a lot of help. The time I can spend blogging and creating is now very limited. I will do what I can to keep up with my commitments. I hope you will bear with me.

Beck to the card. A few weeks back I went to the Newbury Craft show. I knew John Lockwood would be there and I always take him some jelly babies and this time I decided to make him a card. I had just received some of his dies and I wanted to try them out.

This is not a big card. I cut the card blank and I was thrilled that the outer die from the Gerbera Corner Die set had a square die that cut a perfect mat that fitted the card blank perfectly. Then I cut two of the corners out of a paler card stock.

I found a spotty card in my stash an I used that  to cut the Gerbera flowers. For the butterflies I cut a dark base for them. I found some paper that I had made using the shaving foam technique  and I used that to cut the detail of the butterflies.

This sentiment comes with the small butterflies die set. I think it is going to be very useful.

I think he liked the card I know he liked the jelly babies.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Always Fun Challenges - Paper Piecing

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Can you believe we went to see our daughter and son-in-law to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Where did that year go? Not long and we go to Malta for the next wedding.

Being Monday the new challenge starts at Always Fun Challenges and this time the theme is Paper Piecing.

I just love the stained glass dies from Creative Expressions. I knew I wanted to use the Poinsettia one  for this card and I knew I had some great paper in my stash to match,  I just had to find it.

Our challenges are always fun. Why not join us?

This die is gorgeous. I cut it in black and left a frame. I had a piece of inky card left over so I covered it with a sticky sheet. I stuck down the black frame. I cut the die is red, green and gold glitter card and placed the pieces I wanted into the black frame. Having the sticky sheet under makes this easier. Finally I covered the left over sticky with Micro Beads.

As usual I didn't leave much room for a sentiment so I used my go to Tattered Lace die.

I know I will be using this die again.

Crafty Catz Challenge Blog - Challenge 425 - Anything Goes with the optional twist of Think Summer Time

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors.

How has your week been? I have finally have  the go ahead to complete the table plan I am making for the wedding in Malta. Hopefully I will have everything completed soon.

Being Friday the new challenge starts on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Think Summer Time. The fabulous sponsor is Di's Digi Store. This time the team used their own images.

Nothing says summer as much as strawberries. I have had the strawberry corner die for a while it came free with a magazine sometime back. This is the first time I have used it.

Our sponsor is Di's Digi stamps. They have may wonderful images in their store. Click HERE to be taken there.

The basket of strawberries is a free image from Beccy's Place. I created the background and the sentiment on the computer.

Here you can see the detail of the die. It did take a while to do all the paper piecing.

Writing this post I have just decided who to send this card to. I think he will appreciate it.

Not Just Cards Challenge blog - July Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I was very lucky and yesterday I had lunch out with a good  friend and today I am seeing another good  friend today. We are all into crafting so it is lovely to see them both.

I was recently given the opportunity to rejoin the Not Just Cards Challenge blog Design Team. The challenges are always Anything Goes and they start on 11th of the month. This is nice because I can make just what I want.

A little while back I made a Tri-Shutter card for a baby shower. I though it would be nice to make one of these cards as a proper baby congratulations card.

I used the dimensions for this card that I had worked out to make my baby shower card. Since making that card I have invested in some more dies for baby cards. The really nice thing is that these cards  fold up small and fit into a reasonably sized envelope.

The challenges are always Anything Goes.

This shows what the card looks like from above. This type of card looks very cool on display. Although it takes a while to make all the mats and layers they are all squares and rectangles and therefore easy to cut. The really fun bit is working out the decorations.

On of our nieces is expecting her first baby in October. Obviously I don't know if she is having a girl or a boy. So there might just be a girl version of this card that I will be sharing later on.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
The challenge starting 10th July at the TTCRD Challenge
Challenge 149 at the Creative Fingers Challenge blog
Challenge 100 at the Dies R Us Challenge blog
Challenge 214 at the Crafting from the Heart Challenge blog

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Always Fun Challenges - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I hope you did something nice. We went to the Newbury Papercraft show which is relatively close for us. Then on Sunday we went to the cinema to see a Digitally remastered version of Yellow Submarine at the cinema with our Beatles mad friends. It was lovely to see it on the big screen and it is always good to be with our friends,

The new challenge starts at Always Fun Challenges and the theme is the ever popular Anything Goes.

This is the card I gave to our daughter for her birthday. I did end up making her two.

The challenges are always fun at Always Fun Challenges

This image was free from  Aurora Wings called Lilac Sprite. She was printed onto Neenah card and coloured with Promarkers. Then she was cut out with the ScanNCut.

I used the corner dies from the Sandwich Box die set from John Next Door.

Our daughter loved this card.
