How was your weekend? I hope the weather didn't affect your plans too much. We spent most of the time working on the wedding invitations for our nephew and his fiancee. My husband does all the printing and this time there has been a lot. I did try another recipe from the Jamie Oliver 5 ingredients cookery book. I am pleased to say that worked well.
You know I like to get ahead with my cards and that my father-in-law likes interesting cards. This is what I came up with for him for Father's Day.
The front looks pretty ordinary and a bit small. I used the Sail Boat die from the Stained Glass Collection by Creative Expressions. I used a sticky sheet and cut it to some blue card then I cut the stained glass die in black and stuck it to the sticky sheet. I cut the die a few more times in different colours and added bits from them to the design. I left some of the sticky sheet exposed and I covered this with Microbeads.
I saw this style of card on Hochanda on a Bee Crafty show and it caused quite a stir. One of their design team, Lorre-Anne, posted the instructions on her blog. You can see them HERE. I did change the measurements of the outside of my card. I had made one before and I knew where it could be altered. The mechanism I kept the same.
It does this. Isn't it cool? My Father-in-law is going to love it. The nautical theme is for him.
The inside lays out like this.
Being me I added a lot of mats and layers and if I made another one I would cut down on this as it makes the card rather bulky.
I did enjoy making this card I like a challenge.
I would like to enter challenge 135 at the Let's Craft and Create Challenge blog , challenge 361 at the Crafty Creations Challenge blog , Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 321 and challenge 197 at the Crafting From the Heart Challenge blog.
Have a great week.
Happy Crafting

Such a fabulous card Jackie. Wonderful image. I love this style. I have so many folded and ready to use but they are just to small on the inside to hold coloured images. I really must try and use them!
Beautiful cards xx Jan
That looks amazing Jackie, I'm sure your father-in-law will love it. Creative Blessings, Tracy x
Absolutely brilliant card Jackie! I love the stained glass scene - what a therapeutic stint that must have been - and micro beads, I went bananas over those a while back and have since forgotten all about them - so many thanks for the prompt! And the twist and pop-up inside is brilliant of course. I was on the verge of ordering a die specifically to make the mechanism and dipped out due to the cost as I knew other people made them without a special die. So your snippets card came at just the right time! :)
