Nativity Christmas Cards using an LC Designs Stamp and Distress Oxide Backgrounds

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Well that was a busy weekend. I hope you had a good time and did something nice. On Saturday I went to a Craft Workshop for most of the day. My husband got my car to the garage to be fixed, it needs picking up today. Then he drove to Aldershot to collect his 90 year old mum. He drove her to Mottisfont so she could see the Kaffe Fassett textiles exhibition. After lunch they came home and waited for me to return. Then he drove us back to Aldershot to collect his dad. Then we all went to Farnham for my husband's brother's 60th Birthday party. Yesterday we went to the first rehearsal for a Christmas choir we have volunteered for to sing  at Church.

I have been making cards with Distress Oxide backgrounds again. I do love Distress Oxides.

I made fourteen cards altogether. I started by using Distress Oxides to make backgrounds on water colour paper. You put the Oxides on your craft mat, spritz them with water and run the card through. You just repeat until you are happy with the effect. I did dry the sheets with a heat gun so the layers of ink are dry before applying the next layer.  I used the Falling Snow embossing folder to create one of the layers.

I used my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to stamp the image and the sentiment at the same time. The stamp is called Silhouette Manger by LC Designs. Once stamped I coloured over the image with a black Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to so the image sparkles.

I made ten of these small cards. I wanted them for the small group we meet with.

I have been having a bit of a think about blogging and why I do it. I do like sharing what I make and I enjoy being on Design teams and entering competitions. But the blog has become a bit of a time consuming monster and weirdly I am finding I have less time to devote to it now I am not working. I think it is because I can say yes to more of the things I want to do.  So I think I will be blogging less and commenting less. I wonder if I will be able to stick to this? There is also  a pile of cards that hasn't been used so I don't need to make as many at the moment.

Happy Crafting

New Baby Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a great week. The weather here has been rather kind.

I was asked to make a new baby card for a colleague of my husband. The request was for it to be not gender specific.

I decided to go for yellows and greens. The paper and card were in my stash. I cut a frame for the image with Innsbruck die set from the Austrian Collection designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.

The cute hedgehog is a stamp by Penny Black called Baby Hammock. I added the sentiments top and bottom from a stamp set by LC Designs. All the stamps were stamped with Watering Can Archival and the image was coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

I used the Delicate Daisy dies and the Faux Quilled Leaves single leaf to create the flowers and leaves. Those are Sue Wilson dies too.

I was pleased with how this card turned out. I often make cards for people at my husband's work.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Go Green

Hi my Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Work is plodding along and I am getting on with wedding makes and trying to get ahead with my Design Team makes.

Well the first Tuesday of the month see the start of a new challenge on the Unicorn Challenge Blog this time the theme is Go Green.

When we went to the Newbury Craft show I bought this LC Designs stamp with this challenge in mind.

I stamped the image and sentiment onto water colour card with black archival ink and them it was coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I used some Tattered Lace die to cut the image the mat and the lacy border.

Some people wanted to see pictures of our costumes for the masked ball.

This is the costume we hired for my husband. The boots were amazing.

This is my costume with my mask. I didn't need the shawl in the end.

Both of us in masks.

Here is the cake and cupcakes at the party. The cupcakes were delicious.

This is a good card to have in my stash. Those elephants look like they are having lots of fun.

I would like to enter the TTCRD March 7th - March 13th.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Cute Hedgehogs - LC Designs

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a great week. I am heading off to meet friends for lunch a bit later. Not working is just brilliant. Yesterday my husband had the day off and we went to the cinema and we had a lovely lunch. I am progressing well with the buttonhole flowers too. We also managed to post the invitations to the wedding. It is all starting to get a bit real. You can see the designs Here.

I think I have said before that I treated myself to some LC Designs stamps when I went to the Newbury Craft show.

I used paper scraps from my stash to create the background.

The image and the sentiment were stamped on to water colour card with black archival ink and then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

I just added some lace and gems to finish off the design.

Happy Crafting.

New Baby Cards

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead. I have one week to go and then it will be the  half term holiday for me. I can report that the day wedding invitations are all finished. When the wedding website is finished we will be able to send them out.

When we went to the Newbury Craft Show, a few weeks ago,  I treated myself to some LC Designs stamps there was an offer 3 for £12 well it would have been rude not to.  I decided to make some new baby cards for my stash, using one of the new stamps, as I know of a few people having babies soon.

The stamp is adorable and it fits so well in an oval. I used some Tattered Lace dies from the Oval Shutter die set to cut the central panel and the lacy border.

The stamp was stamped onto water colour card with Watering Can archival ink and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. It is very easy to colour.

I said I'd made two here is the boy's version.

It is a lovely stamp and so easy to adapt. I think I might play around with where the sentiment goes next time I used it.

Here are the cards together. Have a great week.

Fantasy Stampers - Halloween Fun!

Hi My Crafty Blogs Friends

The weekend is here and the start of the half term holiday for me as well. I have a busy day today we are dropping off the rabbits at boarding. Then we are having breakfast at Ikea before we pick up bits our daughter needs to finish some units. After that my husband will drop me at a craft day.  Then he will be heading off to help at our daughter and her fiance's house. But he needs to be back in the evening as we are going to see Shappie Korsandi at our local theatre ( the one that is 20 minutes walk away). It all should be lots of fun.

The new challenge starts toady on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog the theme is Halloween Fun. As you might know I am not really comfortable with Halloween makes so I was allowed to just use Halloween colours.

The background was created with Pixie Powders and some Distress ink when I wanted a stronger colour.

The stamp is callled Owl Tree by LC Design. I did some masking and created the moon in the the background. Then I stamped in black and heat embossed with a black sparkly powder. The little wooden owl was darkened with some Distress ink.

This is a Visible Image stamp. It was stamped in black and heat embossed like the Owl Tree. I used Distress Ink over the top and cut it out by hand.

I was rather pleased with how this turned out. I am not sure who I will be sending it too.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Fantasy Stampers - Just One Layer

Hi My Craftly Blog Friends

I hope you are having a great weekend. As you see this we will be on our way to the airport to fly to Iceland for a few days. I am not planning to be in touch while I away as it seems a bit remote and I am not sure the hotel has WiFi.

There is a new challenge on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog and the theme is " Just One Layer". I do find this type of card rather difficult you all know how much I love my mats and layers. I also have mucky fingers.

I promise this is just one layer. I made my own mask so that I could ink (with a brush) the centre square and the border. I also used a post-it note circle to mask where the moon was going to be. It took me a few goes to get this in the right place.

This is the Silhouette Owl and Hedgehog  stamp from LC Designs it was stamped in black and heat embossed with a sparkly black powder.

The sentiment is from Clarity stamps.

There you have it just one layer. The challenge will last for two weeks. If you check back tomorrow the winners of the last challenge will be posted.

I will catch up with everyone when we get back. I am sure I will have some photos to share.

Happy Crafting
