Unicorn Challenge blog - theme Make it Girly

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope your week has started well. I hope you have some nice things planned for the week ahead.

This is something of a sad post for me. I have decided to step down from the Unicorn Challenge Design Team. I have been with them since the beginning so it was a hard decision to make. It is a lovely team to be part of and I have enjoyed my time with them. I wish the whole team all the best for the future.

The new challenge starts today and the theme is Make it Girly. I was asked to make a card for one of my girlfriend's friends.

It was a special birthday but I didn't want to put the age on the front some people are a bit sensitive about that. The pretty backing paper I found in my stash.

I used the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions to make the aperture and the frame. The oval pierced dies came from another set but I am now not sure which one. The sentiment was cut with a Crafters Companion die. The lattice was cut with an Creative Expressions die set.

The butterfly was cut with Magical Butterflies die set from  Creative Expressions.

Finally I made the flowers and leaves from the Christmas Rose die set also from Creative Expressions.

I know this card was very well received. I hope you can join in with this months challenge.

I would like to enter the TTCRD March 6th - 12th Challenge.

Unicorn Challenge #28 - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How are you? My husband goes back to work today. It has been a lovely Christmas break. Now it is all back to normal.

The start of the month is always busy in blogland and the start of a new year is no different. Being the first Tuesday of January the new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge Blog. The theme for this challenge is the ever popular Anything Goes.

I was asked by a friend of mine to make a card for a friend of their's who they met at dancing. She is 90 and she still goes dancing at least once a week if not more often. The card had to have a dancing theme.

I had just bought some non-shed glitter card from a Craft Show and I had been shown that the silver card could be effectively coloured with alcohol pens. That is what I did, all the glitter card was coloured Promarkers.

This is a Signature die and it is called First Dance. So it would look good on a wedding card. By using more of them in coloured skirts it looks more like ball room dancing

The Perspective Happy Birthday Circle die I thought done in glitter looked a bit like a glitter ball.

The numbers and letters were cut with my Crafter's Companion alphabet and number dies.

I was told that Dottie was thrilled with this card and it has even been put into a frame.  I am very pleased that she like it.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going?

The last challenge of 2017 starts on the Unicorn Challenge Blog today and the theme is  Anything Goes. The Design Team will be having a break in December and will be back raring to go on the first Tuesday of January. So let's make this last  challenge  of 2017 go with a bang.

Back in the summer I was asked to make a wedding card by the girl who comes to the house to  give me Sport's Massages. The colour choice was pink, cream and gold.

The paper was in my stash and I just had to use the pink lace.

I used the Creative Expressions Heart of Hearts die set to create the hearts. The Mr and Mrs die is from Crafter's Companion.

The bunting die is one from Tattered Lace.

The Congratulations die is a Tattered Lace die too.

We had a lovely time at the NEC. Unfortunately on the way there we were subjected to some road rage. A man got out of his car and swore at my husband and banged on the window. He had taken objection to my husband changing lanes though there was space and he had signalled. Fortunately the man got into his car and drove away.

We had a lovely long chat with John Lockwood and he made us a Christmas card that he signed. I was taking the selfie so I look a bit strange. I wanted my husband in the picture as he gets on well with John too.

I won the ticket to go to the NEC from Jenny Mayes Facebook page. We went to the Hobby Art  stand to say thank and the hand over a little gift and a card.

I was rather pleased with how this wedding card turned out.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - theme Perfectly Pink

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How has your week started? I hope everything is well with you and your family. I am slowly sorting out the room the bunnies used and then we can move back in all the things that are stored in there.

The new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog and the theme this time is Perfectly Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Well what do you do when you have hexagons left over? You make a card with them of course. The ribbon was in my stash and I only just had enough. I wanted to make a DL card.

The flamingos came from the bonus papers from an older issue of Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine. All the other papers were in my stash of bits and pieces.

The Hexagon dies came from an issue of Crafter's Companion Inspiration magazine.

The heart die came in a set from Creative Expressions.

The sentiment was cut with a Tattered Lace die.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Unicorn Challenge Blog Second Birthday

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Good morning. How are you? This is my second day of being retired everything is all a bit weird at the moment I am sure I will quickly get used to it. There is so much that I want to do.

Well the new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog and it is our second birthday (where did the time go?). To celebrate the theme this month is Birthday and we have not one but two wonderful sponsors Di's Digi Stamps and Fabrika Fantasy.

I had a look in the Di's Digi Stamp store and I couldn't resist this cute image. I used three shades of blue centura pearl card. I made a frame for the image with the Double Pierced Rectangles by Creative Expressions. The top layer was embossed with the Heart Lattice embossing folder also by Creative Expressions unfortunately I don't think it is available any more.

Fabrika Fantasy have some wonderful images on their site.

Di's Digi Stamps also has some gorgeous image. We are very lucky to have been sponsored by them both this month.

I treated myself to one of the images from Di's Digi Stamps this one is called Hedgehogs Bluebell Fun. The image was printed onto water colour paper and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

I do love circle sentiments they often fit onto a card where others couldn't. This is a LOTV sentiment that came free with a magazine some time ago. I used my Tonic circle dies to cut the circles.

These bluebell were cut with some Spellbinder dies.

This is a good time to join our challenge with two sponsors. I am looking forward to seeing all the entries.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - theme Mystical and Magical

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are all keeping well. This is a scheduled post as we are on holiday in Italy a little treat to ourselves after all we did for the wedding and to have something to look forward after it.

The new challenge starts today on the Unicorn Challenge blog and the theme is Mystical and Magical. Themes like that always make me think of Unicorns.

To create the background I used Brushos. The clouds were created with a die that came with a Build a Sheep die set.

The Unicorn is a Woodware stamp he was stamped onto water colour paper and coloured with Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

The two sentiments came with the Unicorn.

I used glitter card for the mats to make the card more sparkly.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Christmas in July

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? I can't believe how close we are to the wedding it is less than two weeks away. Hopefully all the planning we have put in place will mean everything runs smoothly.

The first Tuesday in the month sees the start of the new challenge on the Unicorn Challenge blog and the theme is Christmas in July. I have been making Christmas cards all year so this was not a stretch for me.

I started with a Christmas card from last year. Can you see the pattern on Tatty Ted's hat? Well in my stash I had the paper that matched the pattern on the hat. I just had to use it.

This is a very cute image. I was able to match the layers to colours in the image.

Why not enter the challenge it is never too early to start your Christmas cards.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - For the Guys

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I have been away to Liverpool for a few days. It was an amazing trip it centred around a concert by the Bootleg Beatles with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Roger McGough. This concert celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the release of the Sergeants Pepper's album. We also visited the recreated Cavern club we joined the National Trust so we could visit the house where John and Paul  grew up. We even did the ferry cross the Mersey trip. It is a wonderful city there is so much to do and see.  I have been missing a bit but I am slowly catching up now.

On the first Tuesday of the month the new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog this time the theme is For the Guys. Which is just in time for all those Father's Day makes.

I am sharing the Father's Day card I made for my father-in-law. He was a sailor and he loves nautical themed cards. As he is loosing his sight I like to make the design bold and bright and tactile.

I used an A4 hexagaon embossing folder to create the background. The paper came from my stash.

The ship is a Signature die and I made the waves with a Tattered Lace die.

This is another  brilliant Signature  Father's Day die. I love sentiment dies. I have a few alphabet dies but I hate putting sentiments together is is just brilliant to cut them all out in one go.

This is a statue in the Cavern Walks shopping centre which I think covers part of the site of the original Cavern Club where the Beatles played in the 60s.

Here is the ferry we crossed the Mersey in. It was decorated by Peter Blake the artist behind the Sergeant Pepper's album cover.

A view of the Liver building from the water. It was a wonderful trip to an amazing city.

I hope you have a great week.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Special Occasions

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

We had a great day yesterday. Mottisfont is a lovely place to go. They often have art exhibitions in the house and the grounds are gorgeous. In June the roses there are glorious we will be going back for a visit then now we are members. We did a Medieval tour and that was very interesting. The rain kept off too which was brilliant.

Well the first Tuesday of the month sees the start of a new challenge on the Unicorn Challenge blog and this time our theme is Special Occasions.

I was asked by my cousin to make her mum and dad (my aunt and uncle) a card for her to give them for their 65th Wedding Anniversary. I think that makes it  a very special occasion.

The words were generated on the computer. I used my Spellbinder corner dies over some patterned paper.

I made the flowers with the Exquisite Poppies dies and the foliage with the Olive branch dies.

I know my cousin liked this card as she sent me a lovely thank you letter.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Petal Power

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope the week has started well for you. Yesterday was actually our 35th Wedding Anniversary. We have certainly come a long way together. My husband took the afternoon off and we had a lovely meal and we did a lot of shopping. It was all a bit low key but with a wedding to pay for it couldn't be any other way.

Being the first Tuesday of the month the new challenge starts today on the Unicorn Challenge blog the theme is Petal Power.

I treated myself to some new dies but I do like to keep using my older dies.  I used the border die from the French Collection designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.

The Easter basket die cuts out nicely and it is easy to make a mat to go behind it with the dies provided. I have not used the set to make the 3D basket yet. The flowers were made with a Martha Stewart punch. I used the Olive branch dies to create the foliage.

The Happy Easter die comes with the Basket set.

This is my last Easter card. I have enough now.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
