Moving Along with the Times Challenge blog - the theme is Bugs

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am having quite a quiet week which is great for catching up on crafty makes of one sort or another. The following couple of weeks are going to be rather busy.

Today sees the start of a new challenge at the Moving Along with the Times Challenge blog and this time the theme is Bugs. By this we mean any type of insect.

I wanted to make an Valentine's Day card for my husband and I found inspiration from a  cushion in Next. I go there often it is an easy walk from our house and they have a Costa. What's not to like?  Any way back to the cushion it had bees and a heart on it. I tried making a felted bee but I didn't like what I made so I bought some dies instead.

For the background I used the Honeycomb Haven embossing folder from Creative Expressions. It seemed appropriate. My backing paper was another inky kitchen roll creation.
I added the honeycomb die that came in the Dovecraft Bee Happy Premium Die Collection to the background.

The theme of this times challenge is Bugs. Even butterflies and dragonflies count. Click on the logo and you will be taken to the blog.

The heart die was one designed by Leonie Pujol for Crafter's Companion. The Bee Happy came from the Dovecraft set.

I think this bee die is fabulous and this what prompted me to buy the Dovecraft die set. All the other dies were a bonus.

My husband did like his card on Valentine's Day. In fact we have only just put it away.

Enjoy the rest of the week

I would like to enter the following challenges:

A Mother's Day card with a tale to tell.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How was your weekend? I hope you were able to do something nice. We made a trip to a nearby Waitrose so I could buy some Chilli Jam to make one of the the recipes in the Jamie Oliver Five Ingredients cookbook that I got for Christmas. We had to make a special trip as we couldn't  find anywhere else that stocked Chilli Jam. The rest of the day we spent tidying the rabbit room, which had become something of a tip, as they are coming to stay next weekend. On Sunday we went to see the Darkest Hour a very dramatic film.

I made this card with the bonus papers that would have been in the next edition of Quick Cards Made Easy magazine. But as we all know the  issue at the end of December was their last one ever. I did like the magazine a lot it is a shame it has gone. I am pleased that all the staff got jobs on other publications.

When the papers sent I printed them all. I started by looking at the sentiments and I decided to make a Mother's Day card. The papers were very pretty. There was always a stipulation that the card was square and no more than 150cm x 150cm. I used entwined  heart dies to make a fussy background.

So this is the sentiment I chose and I made a frame for it using some of the card from the mats and layers.

Then I used a punch to make the butterflies they added some extra detail to the card. I still like using punches they are quick. Did you spot the heart button in the corners. I bought those at the Makery in Bath where we went for my daughter's hen party. That seems so long ago now.

I still feel it is a shame that the magazine closed. I hope you had a great week

Christmas in June

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a good week. The weather has been amazing but it was quite a relief when things got a bit cooler on Thursday. Apart from the table plan everything is made for the weeding, It is such a relief.

I treated myself to some goodies from Crafter's Companion and one of them was a £10 Christmas mystery bag of products designed by Leonie Pujol. When it came there were two dies, two embossing folders and some sparkle pens. Now the two dies were entwined dies that went with a Christmas tree die. So being me I had to order that die too and it cost more than the mystery bag something that my husband found amusing.

It was so nice making something not wedding related.

The sentiment came with one to of the die sets.

I do like the more contemporary look of this tree.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
