Ship in a Bottle

This is my first card made for the Creative Studios Design Team.
IMG 7606 f improf 483x483 Ship in a Bottle

I started with a card blank 7” x 7” and I cut a black matting layer. For the next layer I cut a piece of pearlised paper just slightly bigger than the Netting Mask and I inked the paper with browns and greens. Over the top of this in brown ink I stamped lightly  the Father sentiment and the Ship in the Bottle stamp. I did like the Father sentiment very much and I kept wanting to add it to every project. Once everything was dry I embossed the paper with the Netting Mask to give it a soft texture.
Next I stamped the U-Mount Tree Bark A6 Rubber Stamp on to some textured brown card with brown ink; I then trimmed it and I cut a black matt for it. I stamped the Ship in a Bottle stamp onto white card with brown ink  then I  heat embossed  it with clear embossing powder. I used  Promarkers to add a little colour to the design. The Ship in the Bottle image is so easy to cut out. I stamped the Father Sentiment on to white card in brown ink and then I heat embossed it with clear powder.  I cut the sentiment out with a tag die and I inked through the die with  a Distress Ink.
Then came the fun bit, putting it all together. Firstly I stuck the black matt to the card and the wood panel to its black matt. I used foam pads to stick the boat on the wood panel  to give it some heightOnce this panel was complete I  attached it to the pearlised paper. I took some of the Natural String Burlap and wrapped it round the pearlised paper and added the tag. Once this was done I could stick the paper to the card; this way there are no untidy ends from the Burlap.
The final touch was to add some Self Adhesive 3mm White Pearls in the corners of the wood panel.
That was my first Design Team project finished. I have made some other things that I am very keen to share with you over the coming weeks.  Sam is  on Create and Craft next Saturday 10th May at 11:00am and 4:00pm.  Maybe you will be able to see some of my cards too.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

This is a picture of my cards in a box getting ready to be sent to Sam so that she has them when she appears on Create and Craft on 10th May.

Sorry to be a tease. I can start posting proper pictures from next week. My first post on Sam's blog goes live on Monday.

Surprise prize for coming third.

There are no cards form me this week as I am working on secret cards for a new release of stamps that will be out soon. When I get the go ahead they will be posted here.

This post is just a bit of fun. On Thursday my daughter and I received a parcel from Create and Craft containing a prize for coming third in their birthday card competition. We didn't expect to get a prize at all and where I am very pleased with it my daughter is not so bothered.

She is much more into drawing than die cutting. Yesterday they were selling this set for £35.00 plus £2.99 postage and packing. I will be able to put them to good use.

Thank you for looking at my blog and leaving any comments which are most welcome.

A card I made with my daughter came third in the Create and Craft birthday card competition.

We worked on this together one cold Friday afternoon. We cut the heads of all the presenters out of the magazine. My daughter drew all the bodies and all the accessories like the bunting and the glasses. I used my Hougie board to create the tunnel card which ended up about A4 size so we could fit all the presenters in. This type of card has depth and you can create layers. It was shown on the telly on the 2 pm show on Create and Craft on Thursday 17th April  and you can just spot it in a picture of all the cards on their Facebook page.

My other news is that I have been selected to be part of the Creative Studios by Sam Poole design team. My first assignment will be next week.

Finally Happy Easter everyone. These two Easter Bunnies live in our house and make lots of mess.

A get well card and my stash from Ally Pally.

This is a  quick card to send to someone who has just has an operation. I made the frame by scoring with my Hougie board. The lattice die and the birdcage are Spellbinders and the bird and leaves  a  Marianne die. The flowers were punched and shaped. The  backing paper I had in my stash. Finally the sentiment was one from a set designed by Sam Poole. I promised to make some cards that could be sold at a Macmillan garden party I might use this design.

This is what I bought at Ally Pally on Saturday. I had a brilliant time. I saw demos by Sam Poole, Phill Martin (I helped him by peeling the backing paper off his double sided tape) and Julia Watts. I spoke to Sue Wilson she was making lots of bows. I'm kicking myself because I didn't take any photos they would have been fun to put on here.

Thank you for looking at my blog.

Owls having fun.

The owl stamps are designed by Sam Poole for Creative Expressions. They are brilliant to work with the detail is amazing. I stamped the owls and sentiment with Black Archival and heat embossed it with a clear embossing powder then I coloured them with Promarkers. I embossed the Beach Trees mask on to a paper with a core that I sanded back and then inked. I used another embossing folder to create the texture on the darker brown card which I also sanded and inked. I cut an aperture with a spellbinders die and then I cut a frame using two dies. Apart from the label die, which came free with a magazine, all the dies I used  are Spellbinders. I used Centura Pearl card for the matting and layering I even used my piercing ruler to pierce the edge of one of the mats.

I had so much fun with these stamps that I had a go at a couple of other projects. I thought I would add the to this post. The decorated heart is a first for me. I was really pleased with the background on the fox card so I didn't add much detail to the card so it wasn't  covered up too much.

A Gorjuss Birthday Card

I bought a small  D0-crafts Gorjuss decoupage kit and I teamed this with some bits from my prize for winning Jill's Challenge(on the Do-crafts site) a couple of weeks ago. This gave me a nice image to work with. I used lots of paper from my stash including some mirror card that I find hard to photograph.  The flowers are leather cut with my Sizzix  Bigz die Tattered florals. I also did some stamping and heat embossing with gold detail embossing  powder. The stamps were some that I got free with a magazine unfortunately I can't remember which one.
This card is for my daughter her birthday is at the end of May.

Thank you for taking time to look at my blog. Love Jackie
