Nautical Scenes Die Set

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I can't believe how busy August is this year. We had a lovely time away in Lille for my husband's birthday. On Sunday we hosted the first of his two tea parties at his parents house. That went very well. This Sunday we are having a private tea party at our local tea rooms. In amongst all of this I am getting ready to have some cards to sell at one of the Hampshire Open Studios events which starts on Saturday. There is a lot more to it than I first realised.

I have been wanting to have a play with the Nautical Scenes die set that came free with Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine a few months ago. Yesterday I got my chance.

I found an off cut from a larger card that would make a nice tent fold card. I found some card to make the mats and layers in my scrap pile.

Then using all sorts of snippets I used the dies in the set to cut the layers to make the scene.

The little boat is so cute. I do have a lot of nautical dies and being smaller these will make a nice addition to my collection.

Now I have had a play with these dies I want to have another go to try out some other ideas.

First Try with the Foston Fold Die Set

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I would like to start by wishing you all a very Happy Easter. Where we are the weather is lovely. Yesterday  managed to get a lot done in the garden. We are quite a long way to being able to demolish our old shed. Thank you to all those who offered advice about how to replace it. We are always open to suggestions.

I wasn't sure if I was going to post today or not. Things seem to be going well this weekend  so I thought I would.

When I was at Ally Pally I treated myself to the Foston Fold Die Set from the John Next Door Range from Crafts-Too. This is the first time I have used the die set. My first try with a die set  is usually the most straight forward way. This then gives me a chance to see what else the dies might be able to do.  The Foston die was cut into white card and backed with pink card.

This sentiment comes with the Small Butterfly die set.

The flowers were cut with a die in the Foston set. My favourite small butterflies were added. While at Ally Pally I also treated myself to the Leafy Flourish die set. The pattern of the leaves matches one of the panels that come with the Foston set. I am a sucker for things that match.

For a first try I was quite pleased with how this turned out. Just waiting for the right person to send it to.

Beautiful Tulips Easter Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you have had a good week. The weekend is nearly here. We are away in Suffolk for my Uncle's 85th birthday celebration that will be on Saturday. Today we are visiting friends who have moved this way last year.

I have made a few Easter cards and I am sharing one of the first ones I made today. I am sat in our hotel room writing this post this is a first for me. My husband is watching Pointless it is very distracting.

I love yellow and green on spring themed Easter cards. The patterned paper was in my stash,

I have had the background die for a while and I have not used it until now. I must say enjoyed using it. The tulip die came with the Crafter's Companion advent calendar last year. The flower pot is a Spellbinders die. Happy Easter was cut with a Creative Expressions die.

I have made a few other Easter cards I will be sharing these later on.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) - Winter Animals

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am busy with invigilating. There is just one Mock exam today. So I should get some time to craft when I get home. Tomorrow I am in for three exams which will make a very long day which will be tiring.

I am hosting the challenge that starts today at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) challenge blog and the theme I have chosen is Winter Animals.

I used lots of my festive dies to make this winter scene. All the dies were designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.  The sky was made with the Night Sky die. The Trees were cut with the Winter Trees dies set. The houses were cut with the Cottage Scenes dies. I have had all these dies for sometime. All the white I used is glitter card. This card really sparkles but it doesn't show in the photo.

Why not join in with our challenge? Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

The deer were cut with the Deer Family die set. They were embossed, I inked through the dies and backed them with gold card.

Santa was cut with the Santa's Sleigh dies set I added an extra deer.

I do love created scenes like this will dies. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Robin Christmas card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am working hard at the wedding makes.  Tomorrow I will be helping at another Felting workshop. I hope I get to make another picture.

I was really lucky and I won an Amy Designs die from the Feeling of Christmas range called Ice Crystal Circle in a Christmas Facebook group. I just had to make a card with the die.

The backing paper I have had in my stash for a long time. I cut the die and then realised I could use the cut out from the paper. That way less was wasted.

I found a robin decoupage in my stash. He look cute sat in the middle of the die cut.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

My Favourite Five cards of 2016

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. I know it is not easy for many people for lots of different reasons. We did have a lovely time with our daughter and her fiance and our future in-laws on Christmas day at their new house.  Then on Boxing Day we took my in-laws to my brother-in-law's house for another family celebration. Our daughter is back to work now and we are playing catch up. It is lovely to have some time off.

I did this last year and I decided to repeat this year. That is sharing my favourite cards from the year.

Oh boy it was a lot harder choosing than I thought it would be. Maybe next year I will do a top ten. All these cards have been featured on my blog over the past year. I have put the dates when the cards were put on my blog and I have linked back to the pages where the instructions are. I do like my square cards don't I.

Enjoy the rest of the week. We are hoping to get to the cinema sometime.

Home for Christmas

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Somehow my afternoons are becoming very busy and not much crafting is happening that isn't what I expected to happen. Tomorrow we are off to see Mamma Mia at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton I am very excited.

I was thrilled when I received the free gift with Simply Cards and Papercraft this month. There is an embossing folder, some dies and some stamps. Here is the card I made.

The brick paper is some textured white paper from my stash that was inked with Distress Ink. The door and the frame were created with the embossing folder. I embossed it  in white and cut out the whole frame and then I embossed it in black and cut out the door. I did a black door as our daughter's new house has a black door. The knocker and the letter box were stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a silver powder.

The wreath was made with the dies that came with the set. I did have a lot of fun sticking the berries on.

The lamp was stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a copper powder.

The urn and the foliage were stamped and cut out by hand.

Here you can see me and my husband on the front row of the audience watching Sue Wilson at Ally Pally last weekend. Yes we were on telly again. It was wonderful watching Sue demonstrate.

I was rather pleased with how this card turned out. All I added apart from card was a sentiment cut with some Britannia dies.

I hope enjoy the rest of the week.

Dragonflies Times Two

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Not too long and it will be the weekend. Don't the weeks seem to be rushing passed quickly. I do like the longer days I feel like I can get so much done. I have set time aside at the weekend to get on with the wedding invitations I have been asked to make, I do keep putting them off,  but then I do keep being asked to make other cards. I will get them done in time I would never let anyone down.

On to today's cards, I got a free dragonfly stamp and matching die with a magazine and I decided to have a play with them. I would like to enter it for Pixie's Snippets Playground - 173 as you can see from the design lots of snippets were used in both cards.

This is actually the second card I made, I do like this one more. The background had been laying around for a while since I made another card it hadn't work so well so it needed to be covered up a bit more. The paper was inked over with Distress ink and then spritzed with water and dabbed with paper towel to remove some of the moisture.

This shows the detail of the stamp. I cut a plain dragonfly to put behind the stamped dragonfly.

The sentiment was stamped with  a stamp I had in my stash  I inked round the edge and matted it on to black.

This is the first card I made. I had the the backing paper for a while and I thought of it immediately when I got the stamp and die set.

This time I cut a mauve dragonfly to put under the stamped dragonfly. The greeting was stamped straight onto the paper.

There are the two cards  near to each other. They are both 6" x 6" cards and nice and flat for posting.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
