Engagement Card for a Happy Loving Couple

Hi Everyone

The weather is being a bit changeable today one minute storms next minute sunshine and everything else in between. I am spending today catching up on jobs that I have been neglecting for a while. Don't worry I will be back to crafting soon.

Today's card is an Engagement card for a gay couple who decided a few days ago to tie the knot after being together for 10 years.

This card owes a lot to one created by Sue Wilson there is even a video tutorial to go with it. It uses the Bevelled Glass striplet die that was designed by Sue Wilson and gilding flakes.

It isn't exactly the same I made my flower from leather using the Tattered Florals BigZ die by Tim Holtz it is amazing how often I go back to this die.

Thank you for looking. It is all change over on Do-crafts so I'm not sure if I will get any visitors this week.

Sam Poole has two shows on Create and Craft on Saturday 16th August at 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. I have sent in some samples that will be featured on the show. In my last post there is a picture of the things I sent.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hearts and music 80th Birthday Card

Hi Crafty friends

As you can see from my previous post this has not been a good week for me with the death of my aunt. I have also been very busy crafting. Why is when you are really busy that is when people ask you to make cards for them. I do find it hard to say no as there is something special about being asked to make something for an important time in their lives. I'm rambling, on to the card. This one was a commission for a wife to give her trumpet playing husband.

There are lots  of musically themed elements: the backing paper, the Tattered Lace die cuts and the embossing folder.

The hearts were made from a Spellbinders die set. I covered a piece of card with a double sided sticky sheet and then die cut the two heart shapes. This way the sticky sheet goes right to the edge of the shape and I covered it with Morris Dance gilding flakes by Indigo Blue. The with the filigree part of the dies and the outer hear die I cut the top layer and stuck these on top of the gilding.

This is a Tattered Lace die and I must admit that it did cut beautifully.

I do like keeping the insert simple so that there is room to write.

Have a great weekend what ever you are doing.

Thanks for stopping by and for any comments you might leave.

Lots of stamping and two new friends who have come to live with us.

I had lots of fun with this card. I don't often do stamping there is so much stuff to get out but when I do I always enjoy it. This started with a Barbara Grey rose stamp that was a club members gift. I had been want to use it for a while. I stamped it in Perfect Medium all over a piece of white card. Then I heat embossed it with a clear embossing powder. After that I inked over it with Distress ink using cut and dry foam where the embossing was stayed white. That was the background done. I took ages choosing some ribbon from my stash. Then out came the gilding flakes I  use Indigo Blu glue and flakes so I stamped and gilded the rose on some pink paper three time and cut them out with scissors. The leaves are from the Tim Holtz Bigz Die Tattered Leaves. The sentiment is individual letters stamped and them gilded.

Our daughter has come home to live with us and she has brought these cute little fellows with her. They are so soft.

Thank you for taking time to look at my blog.
