Creative Artist - Canvas

Hi My Crafty  Blog Friends

It is Friday the weekend has arrived. We have a fun day planned tomorrow. Our daughter and her fiancé will be visiting as it is my birthday on Monday and that is the best day for use to get together. We will be starting off with hat shopping for a wedding in July.

My Design team makes have been nicely spread out this month. Last month three of them came together on the same day. Being the first Friday of the month the new challenge starts on the Creative Artiste challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes.

We have a sponsor Maja Design the prize will be a pack sent out from the sponsor.

I have made something I have never made before - a canvas.

I quite enjoyed making it in the end. I used lots of things from my stash that I haven't used before. This is quite a small canvas it measures 6" x 8". First I covered it with Gesso and then a layer of tissue paper to get some texture going. I found some spray inks in my stash and I had fun spraying the tissue paper. Once this was dry I used texture paste and masks to create some more texture. Once everything was dry I went through my crafts bits stash and added bits and bobs to the canvas.

The butterfly was created with a Sizzix die and stamp set.

The flower was made with the Sizzix Bigz die Tattered Florals. I love how those dies can cut fabric.

The birds are from Marianne dies,

This bird started out white.

More of the Tattered Florals. The bunting was created with a Tattered Lace die and the die cuts were left over from another project.

I did enjoying making this canvas. Next time I will have a bit more idea of what to do.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Happy Crafting

Creative Artiste - April Anything goes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I do hope that you have had a very good day. This is the last post from me you will be pleased to know. Our day didn't work out as we thought it might we were at the hospital a lot longer than we expected. So we went to Port Solent for a meal and then we saw the Eddie the Eagle film which I can thoroughly recommend.

The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog and the theme is Anything Goes with a twist to use chipboard, stencils or flowers the sponsor is The Dusty Attic an Australian company who produce laser cut creations and embellishments.

I decided to decorate a journal cover. I write a journal everyday I have been doing it for about 26 years. Just recently I realised that it was much nicer to buy plain journals and decorate them myself.

The background was created from Kraft card using the Faux Leather technique there is a tutorial showing how to do this at the top of my blog.

The flowers were made with my Sizzix Bigz Tattered Florals die I used felt and leather to create them. I added leaves cut from paper with the Faux Quilled Leaves die set.

There was a space on the cover and I wasn't sure how to fill it and them I remembered my butterfly dies I cut one from brown card and used gold gilding wax on it.

I am looking forward to writing in this journal. This is the last post from me for today. I am going for a lay down in a dark room. Enjoy the weekend. Take care.

Crafts Galore Encore - Make a card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I am back, for the second time today,   this time with my card for the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog. The theme of the new challenge is simple "Make a Card". Kenny K is our sponsor and the team have been given some wonderful images to work with. The challenge lasts for a month.

Click on the logo and you will be taken to the store where you can buy the images.

This is Jasmine a pretty young woman she is coloured with Promarkers. I wanted her to look like she is wearing blue denim.

I made the flowers with my Sizzix Bigz Tattered Florals die. I did actually go to a charity shop to buy some jeans to cut up. I cut some in felt as well to give a contrast in the layers.

The sentiment was stamped with a Clarity stamp.

There she is ready for a day out to celebrate a birthday.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

A Wedding Card for a Special Couple

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. So far the weather here hasn't been too good here but that does mean craft time for me. I can't believe that it is nearly the end of the school holiday. The time really has whizzed by.

I was asked by our Vicar to make a card for the girl who used to play drums in our music group as she is getting  married in a few weeks. She was a very big part of our church life and lots of people remember her fondly.

This is an A4 card so it can be signed by everyone. To create the background I found some pretty paper in my stash with words and birds on it. I cut two lattices with a cutting file on my ScanNcut I cut one edge off both so they could be joined together to cover the paper. I cut three of the Sue Wilson Ivy Border die and put these at the edge of the card one was cut in half so the whole side was covered.

I used my Tattered Florals Bigz die to make the flowers with the addition of the Spellbinders die for the centers and a flat backed pearl to finish them off. All the flowers were shaped with a ball tool on a spongy mat. The flowers all started white but I inked them before I shaped them.

The hearts were made with a Sue Wilson die I made a mat by drawing round the die. The White centers were embossed with the Bed of  Roses embossing folder. The letters were cut with my Tonic dies they were cut once in blue and once in white. Now I have a spare set in reverse.  I might use them on the envelope.

I have left the inside quite plain with a lot of space for signing. I hope the flowers will keep their shape. I do hope you all enjoy the rest of the week.

I would like to enter this for Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 191. All the flowers were made with snippets.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - Design Team

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope that you have had a great weekend and got done everything that you wanted to do. We were so busy on Saturday (yes we did it all) that it was lovely to have a day relaxing at home yesterday. Now it is all back to work but for me it is not long to the end of term and I have a lovely cruise to look forward to, I am so lucky.

Have you guessed my crafty news? I feel very privileged that Lori Thomas has asked me to join her Design Team at the Not Just Cards Challenge Blog after she took it over running it a couple of months ago.

This is my first design piece for them and it  uses  an image from the Etsy Store Alldressedupstamps and is called Magical Day . They are one of our sponsors this month we have some other sponsors and the rest of the Design Team have used some of their images. This image proved very popular and three of us used it all in very different ways.

I printed the image onto 160 gsm card and I coloured it with my Promarkers. I wanted the card to have a pretty soft pastel theme.

I used my Faux Quilled leave Sue Wilson die to cut the leaves and my Sizzix Tattered Floral die to make the flowers. The centers  were made with a Spellbinders die it comes with a different flower. This where I confess that I bought the die set just for the center die. I also added a CS PVA pearl glue dot to the middles.

This is what I bought on Saturday at the Newbury Papercraft show. Someone was demonstrating  Brushos and I just couldn't resist. It was a brilliant show costing £3 to get in and we were all given a goody bag of bits that must have been worth more that £3. There is another show planned for January 23rd  next year and there is a Facebook page where you can keep up with updates.

So my first card for NJC Design Team the theme of the all challenges is always "Anything Goes". There will be prizes of Digi stamps from the sponsors of the different challenges.

I hope that you have a good week.

Beautiful Blooms to send you on your way...

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Well the working week is well and truly under way. I had such a fun filled crafty weekend it was hard to go back to work and settle back into routine. It is nice to have good things to look back on and to look forward to.

We are getting near the end of term and a few people are leaving. This means there are a few leaving cards to make. In fact I shared one last week. The one I am sharing today is an A4 version. There is lots of room for signing inside.

It might not look it but is definitley A4. The best thing is I downloaded a cutting file from the internet put it on my ScanNcut and I had a beautiful trellis for the background. I cut two and cut of a side from each and overlapped them to cover the whole card. I stuck the trellis to a patterned vellum.

The flowers were cut from white pearlised paper with my Tattered Floral Bigz dies. They were coloured with Distress ink and shaped with a ball tool. The centres were cut with a small Spellbinders die that came from another flower set. I used CS Pearl PVA in the centre of the flowers. The green flourishes were made with a Tonic die.

The sentiment was cut with  Signature die.

I used so many snippets making this card I would like to enter it for Pixie's Snippets Playground weeks 181 / 182.

I would also like to enter this for challenge 26 at Crafting Musketeers - Shades of Summer

Scribble and Scrap Challenge 44 Always Anything Goes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Happy Sunday everyone. I had a lovely day yesterday. I was made to feel very special.

Today sees the start of a new challenge on the Scribble and Scrap Challenge blog. The theme is always anything goes and there is a prize so it is worth having a go.

This card was made for a commission. The inspiration came from the pattern on a mug the lady who wanted the card made  shared with me to show her friend's taste.

The background was made with  striplet die Eternal Rings by Sue Wilson it was cut three times without the cutting edge to make the lattice. I found a patterned paper to put behind and then I used CS Pearl PVA glue to add the pearls. This was left to dry for a few hours while I did the rest of the cutting.

To cut the name I used my Tonic letter dies.

This was made with one of Sue Wilson's Flag dies and Britannia word dies. I love the piercing round the flag.

I made the flowers with the Tim Holtz's Tattered florals Sizzix die, The centres were made with a Spellbinders die. Some CS pearl PVA was added to the centre of the flowers.

I made a matching box for the present I had to use two sheets of A1 card to make the box.

I am a very lucky lady. For my birthday my mother-in-law gave me the rest of the money to buy the ScanNcut. In fact she gave it to me a few weeks before this meant I was able to take advantage of a very good offer. The Happy Birthday is an included file and the first thing I cut with the macine. I think it is going to be very useful.

Have a wonderful day today.

Engagement Card for a Happy Loving Couple

Hi Everyone

The weather is being a bit changeable today one minute storms next minute sunshine and everything else in between. I am spending today catching up on jobs that I have been neglecting for a while. Don't worry I will be back to crafting soon.

Today's card is an Engagement card for a gay couple who decided a few days ago to tie the knot after being together for 10 years.

This card owes a lot to one created by Sue Wilson there is even a video tutorial to go with it. It uses the Bevelled Glass striplet die that was designed by Sue Wilson and gilding flakes.

It isn't exactly the same I made my flower from leather using the Tattered Florals BigZ die by Tim Holtz it is amazing how often I go back to this die.

Thank you for looking. It is all change over on Do-crafts so I'm not sure if I will get any visitors this week.

Sam Poole has two shows on Create and Craft on Saturday 16th August at 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. I have sent in some samples that will be featured on the show. In my last post there is a picture of the things I sent.

Thanks for stopping by.
