Crafts Galore Encore - Kenny K Mermaid

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Where did January go? I can't believe we at February already.

On the first of the month the new challenge starts on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes and the sponsor is Kenny K stamps.

The background was created with inky kitchen roll. It was a piece that I had used to clear up after I had been using some Brushos to create a background for another card. The kitchen roll is left to dry. When it is dry the two pieces are pulled apart and then each piece  is glued to a sheet of card. So you get two from one sheet of kitchen roll. This is a technique I saw John Lockwood use. I love it because you don't waste the lovely inky colours. I added die cuts to make it look more like it is underwater.

Kenny K Stamps is our kind sponsor this month. The digital stamps are available from his store

This die is one of the ones designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.

I was so lucky that I was able to choose an image this time. She is called Mermaid and she was a delight to colour. I did use my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. She was also cut out with my ScanNcut I wanted the even while border that you can get.  She is available here http://www.kennykstamps.com/mermaid-fantasy-paper-crafts-card-making-digi-stamp-by-kennyk-stamps/

I did enjoy making this card the mermaid is a lot of fun.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Creative Artiste Challenge 16 - Anything Goes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Today is a busy blog day. It the first of the month and it is a Friday.

The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes. There is a sponsor this month Scrapmatts  who are based in Australia. The design team were all sent goodies to play with. I have a little confession I lost my goodies I keep expecting them to turn up but they haven't yet.

In my stash I had a chipboard door hanger that I painted all over with Gesso. When this had dried I used some decoupage glue to cover the door hanger with different shades of blue tissue paper. There was another wait for this to dry. I did cover both sides. I took a stencil and inked through it with a silver ink.

If you click on the link you will be taken to the store.

This is an LOTV stamp that I love. She was stamped with black archival onto water colour card and then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.  She was cut our by hand and added to the door hanger with a gel glue.

At the bottom I added shells, pearl strings and die cuts.

Here is the hanger in place on the bathroom door. Thank you for visiting today.

Under the Sea with a little Mermaid

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Are you all prepared for Easter? Just one more day and it will be the Easter holidays for me and just two days to go until the wedding.

I have been playing with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens again. I hunted through my stash until I found this LOTV stamp of a cute little mermaid.

For the background  I added lots of die-cut nautical images including anchors, ships and ship's wheels. I added a doily for good measure.

I wish you could see the sparkle in the photo graph. I used watercolour paper and I stamped the image in black archival. Now for the confession I had to put a die-cut on the image to hide a smudge at the bottom of the image. Covering the smudge affected the whole design.

I was quite pleased with how the card turned out in the end. I do love the Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens and I think I will have to buy some more.

Enjoy the rest of the week. The weather has been very nice here but I think it will have changed by the weekend which is a shame for the wedding.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Mystical and Magical

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Well this is my first day back at school. It is also the first day of the first challenge on the new Unicorn Challenge blog. Please come and support us. The theme is Mystical and Magical. Please come and join us in this new venture. It is a monthly challenge starting on the first of each month.

This is my Design Team card for inspiration and I chose to use my mermaid stamp from LOTV.

I chose to use blue and aqua coloured card for the mats to give the card a marine feel.

The mermaid was stamped with black Archival and heat embossed with a clear powder. Then she was coloured with Promarkers. The frame was cut with a Sizzix die. The Black frame was embossed and I rubbed gilding wax all over it and buffed it with a dry wet wipe.

Before I assembled the card I added a large ribbon in green

Please join us for our very first challenge.

I hope you have a great week.

Cute LOTV Mermaid

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How has your weekend been? I spent yesterday making cards and today we have been in the garden tidying up. It was lovely and sunny today it was a shame it was so cloudy on Eclipse day meaning that we didn't get to see anything. The television coverage was good and I have enjoyed seeing other people's photographs.

I ordered some LOTV toppers for some cards I need to make soon and this cute little mermaid just popped into my basket. She arrived on Saturday and I just couldn't wait to use her.

I made the background by stamping the bottom of the card with a Sheena stamp that I got free with a magazine. Then I used CS Pearl White PVA glue and CS Blue Sparkle Glue to make dots around where the image would be placed.

I stamped the image with Cobalt Archival and heat embossed it with CS Clear Fine Detail embossing powder. I then coloured the image with my Promarkers. I cut the image out with a die and I used Distress  to ink through the die to leave a white edge around the outside. I put some pearl PVA on the bubbles to add some texture.

This LOTV stamp came free with another magazine sometime ago. Though it has flowers on it this is the only round sentiment that I have and I wanted a round one.

She is so cute I have already got some other ideas for how to use her. I hope you all have a good week and that you find some time to craft.
