Creative Artiste Challenge Blog February Challenge sponsored by Scrapmatts

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is here. I wonder if you have plans. I am going to start looking for a wedding outfit for me. On Saturday evening we are going to our local theatre to see a 50th  anniversary performance of the radio show Round the Horne.

This is something of a sad post for me as it is my last one for the Creative Artiste challenge blog. As many of your know our daughter is getting married later this year. I am making a lot of things for the wedding and sadly at the moment I don't have the time to apply to the mixed media projects. I have had a lovely time on this team. I am very grateful to my fellow team mates for their patience  and tolerance with my abilities.

On to today, on the first Friday of the month the new challenge starts on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog this is challenge 23 the theme is Anything Goes (Mixed Media) and the sponsor is Scrapmatts.

I decided to decorate one of my journal covers. I used one of my kitchen roll backgrounds. I did make quite a few and there is more kitchen roll drying to make some more.

Our lovely sponsors this time.

I have quite a range of nautical dies and I used them to decorate the cover. The ship is a Tattered Lace die.

I was sent some goodies by Scrapmatts  I painted words with acrylic paint. They seemed to be appropriate for a journal.

Enjoy the coming weekend.

Creative Artiste Challenge Blog - Anything Goes sponsor Things to Alter

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How has your week been? As you know  I am back to work and my timetable has been tweaked I am now in one class with one child ( I do work with groups as well) someone realised that I couldn't do two jobs at the same time as my previous timetable stated. The change has made my week a lot easier.

The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes (but it does have to be a mixed media item). The sponsor this time is Things to Alter.

I have been practising making flowers for our daughter' s wedding ( you can read about our progress here). This time I decided to make a vase to put some of the flowers in this was just for fun not for the wedding.

This is our sponsor this time. I was sent lots of lovely embellishments to use.

I thought you might like to see how the project started out it is just a pink plastic picnic cup. I used a pretty tissue paper and some decoupage glue to cover the cup.

These are Kusudama flowers they are made by folding paper and gluing sections together. I have written instructions on how to make them just click on this link.

I added some Babies Breath decorations to the flowers.

I bought this lace at a craft fair a little while ago it is so pretty. The leaves you can just see were cut out of fabric with one of my Sizzix Bigz dies. I was able to cut several layers at the same time.

I have to admit that when the embellishments arrived from Things to Alter I had nearly finished this project but I found lots of these lovely wooden shapes and the fitted round the bottom of the cup.

This does look rather pretty sitting  on the side and it gave me lots more practice with making the flowers.

Creative Artiste December Sponsor Scrapmatts

Hi My Crafty blog Friends

How has your week been? The weekend is here. This weekend is the birthday of our future son-in-law. So on Sunday we are joining them and his parents for a celebratory meal. This time last year my husband had his accident and broke his wrist so we missed out on the birthday celebrations. It is so good that we can join in this year.

The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog. The sponsor is Scrapmatts and the theme is Anything Goes.

I was really lucky when I popped into our local Range they were selling off some of last year's Creative Expressions MDF and I picked up this Happy Christmas at a snip.

I painted the MDF with Acrylic paint. Then I used ribbon, flowers and brads from my stash. I also added some ivy die cuts.

I think this will look good on the sideboard this Christmas.

Creative Artiste - Anything Goes - Sponsor Foilplay

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is here. I am so glad that week is over. We are seeing our daughter in her new house tomorrow and helping with a few jobs which will mean that the bunnies can go home the week after.

The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes and the sponsor for U.K residents is Foilplay.

For this challenge I created another wedding frame that was a gift for the wedding we went to back in October.

The frame came from The Range they have a good stock of frames at very reasonable prices. The backing paper I have had in my stash for a while. This is the third frame I have made from the same two sets of tiles and this one was a struggle. We only had one R left .It is surprising how many words to do with weddings have Rs in them.   My husband helped me to sort out the words for the Crossword. We did try many combinations.

There was a space in the corner so I cut the Sue Wilson Mr and Mrs die in black and silver for that space.

Here is the wedding party. The bride is a work collegaue of my husband. The really weird thing is that one of my work colleagues was there because her partner knew the bride. We had no idea we would be at the same evernt until we got there.

I was told afterwards that the happy couple were very pleased with this frame.

Creative Artiste - Challenge 19 Anything Goes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have a had a good week and that you have something nice planned for the weekend. We will mostly catching up with jobs around the house and garden.

The first Friday in the month see the start of a new challenge on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes and the sponsor is The Dusty Attic.

I had had this little heart shaped box in my stash for ages. I was given it free when I bought some jewellery as a leaving present.

I started painting the box all over with Gesso. It isn't necessary to do this but it does make the colours of the tissue paper brighter. Then I decoupaged the box with cut up tissue paper and decoupage glue applied with a brush. The lace was in my stash.
The Dusty Attic are based in Australia and they make laser cut creations and embellishments. They will ship overseas. If you click on the logo you will be taken to the store.

I made the flower with the Spellbinders Build a Sunflower die set. I used Distress inks to colour the petals. The doily was created with another Spellbinder die. The butterfly was made with a Sue Wilson die.

I was very pleased with how this box turned out.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

Creative Artiste Challenge blog - Sponsor Scrapmatts

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The weekend is here. Unfortunately my husband has to work this weekend the University is having Open days and he is in charge of a stand. It only happens twice a year so I shouldn't moan. I do get some extra time to craft though and he has promised to take me out for a meal.

The beginning of the month is always busy with Design Team makes and today is no exception. The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog. We have a sponsor Scrapmatts of Australia.  Do you remember last time they sponsored us I lost the bits and pieces I had been sent? Well when I was having a tidy up I found them - whoop. They were in a very safe place :)

I decided to decorate a tiny canvas as one of the things I had was a small frame.

First I painted the canvas with a coat of white acrylic paint, Then I mixed some colours and used a mask I had been sent to create the background. I painted the frame with a mixture of paints. The good thing about making something like this is if you don't like how it is going you can paint over it and change the look.

I decided to make the poppies with the small dies in the Sue Wilson Exquisite Poppy set. The greenery was created with the Olive Branch die set.

This is one of the words I received with my set of goodies. I painted it with Acrylic paint and added it to the design.

It is a rather cute canvas. I might give it to my Mother-in-law she likes poppies.

I would like to join in with Week 244 of Pixie's Snippets Playground

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Creative Artiste Challenge Blog - Anythings Goes

Hi My Craft Blog Friends

I hope that you have had a wonderful week and that you have got done all the things that you wanted to do. I have a week mostly catching up on jobs. I am now preparing for our daughter to visit this evening. The plan is to make my husband a birthday cake and tomorrow we are going somewhere so she can try on wedding dresses. This is super exciting.

The first Friday of the month see the start of a new challenge on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog and the theme is Anything Goes. We have a sponsor Stamporations and the Design Team were sent masks to work with. I was sent the Shutters mask and the Bold Florals mask.

The masks were quite different so I decided to make two cards.

To create the background I laid the Bold Florals mask on to some watercolour card. First I sprinkled some mica over the mask and then with a brush I put some Brusho powder where I wanted it on the design. Now it was time to spritz it with water. While it was still wet I lifted the mask and I left the design to dry. As I had  added mica the background has a slight shimmer.

Here is a close up on the background. I was lots of fun to create.

The lilies were created with a Spellbinder die set and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I really do try to use them whenever I can. I love the way they can be moved around with water.

I used a Sue Wilson die to cut the flag and its mat. The sentiment was cut with a Britannia word die set.  I didn't want to put too much on the card to hide the pretty background.

This card is quite different in tone. I actually made this one first. I put the Shutter mask onto some water colour card. It was sprinkled with some of my Brushos this time more randomly. Once this was done I spritzed the mask with water. I removed the mask and turned it inky side down onto some ready and waiting watercolour card. This is how I created the second mat.

The sentiment came from the Woodware Gone to Seed stamp set. It was stamped in Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a sparkly black powder.

This is the Gone to Seed stamp I love it. Again it was stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a black sparkly powder.

I had lots of fun making these cards. I love masks all the things you can do with them they are so versatile.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Creative Artiste Challenge 16 - Anything Goes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Today is a busy blog day. It the first of the month and it is a Friday.

The new challenge starts today on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes. There is a sponsor this month Scrapmatts  who are based in Australia. The design team were all sent goodies to play with. I have a little confession I lost my goodies I keep expecting them to turn up but they haven't yet.

In my stash I had a chipboard door hanger that I painted all over with Gesso. When this had dried I used some decoupage glue to cover the door hanger with different shades of blue tissue paper. There was another wait for this to dry. I did cover both sides. I took a stencil and inked through it with a silver ink.

If you click on the link you will be taken to the store.

This is an LOTV stamp that I love. She was stamped with black archival onto water colour card and then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.  She was cut our by hand and added to the door hanger with a gel glue.

At the bottom I added shells, pearl strings and die cuts.

Here is the hanger in place on the bathroom door. Thank you for visiting today.

Creative Artiste - Heart Wall Hanging

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a good week and are ready for the weekend. Today we will be travelling back from our short break. I hope that the traffic is kind to us.

Being the first Friday of the month there is a new challenge starting on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog and the theme this time is Anything Goes. Our sponsor this time is Foilplay.

I decided to decorate a small heart wall hanging. I started by painting the heart with white Gesso. I gave it a couple of hearts. When it was dry I used some decoupage glue to attach some tissue paper. I attached it as one piece and I was so pleased that I had used the Gesso on the wood as it really showed up the design on the tissue paper. I sanded the edges of the shape to remove the excess tissue.

As I said at the top of this post Foilplay is the sponsor this month if you click on the logo you will be taken to their store. It is worth checking out they stock a lot of well known brands.

I used a Dreamees stamp for the sentiment I stamped it in read to match the ribbon (which came with the heart). I cut it out with the centre die from one of my Sue Wilson die sets. All the flowers I had in my stash it was nice to have a project to use them on I attached them with a gell glue. The final touch was to add some lace around the edge of the heart.

Here is the heart in place hanging in my lounge. I was really pleased with how this turned out and I enjoyed making it.

Creative Artist - Canvas

Hi My Crafty  Blog Friends

It is Friday the weekend has arrived. We have a fun day planned tomorrow. Our daughter and her fiancé will be visiting as it is my birthday on Monday and that is the best day for use to get together. We will be starting off with hat shopping for a wedding in July.

My Design team makes have been nicely spread out this month. Last month three of them came together on the same day. Being the first Friday of the month the new challenge starts on the Creative Artiste challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes.

We have a sponsor Maja Design the prize will be a pack sent out from the sponsor.

I have made something I have never made before - a canvas.

I quite enjoyed making it in the end. I used lots of things from my stash that I haven't used before. This is quite a small canvas it measures 6" x 8". First I covered it with Gesso and then a layer of tissue paper to get some texture going. I found some spray inks in my stash and I had fun spraying the tissue paper. Once this was dry I used texture paste and masks to create some more texture. Once everything was dry I went through my crafts bits stash and added bits and bobs to the canvas.

The butterfly was created with a Sizzix die and stamp set.

The flower was made with the Sizzix Bigz die Tattered Florals. I love how those dies can cut fabric.

The birds are from Marianne dies,

This bird started out white.

More of the Tattered Florals. The bunting was created with a Tattered Lace die and the die cuts were left over from another project.

I did enjoying making this canvas. Next time I will have a bit more idea of what to do.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Happy Crafting
