A Nautical Themed Card 80th Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend?  Wasn't the weather awful on Saturday.I hope you are ready for the week ahead. We had a lovely time with our friends on Saturday. Hal Cruttenden was very funny. On Sunday we collected the hamper list from church and we sent it out to everyone in our group. We just have to wait and see what they want to contribute. This week and next I will be invigilating. This is for the Year 11 practice exams. One difference for me this time is that I will be in charge of a room. We will just have to see how that goes.

I was looking back through my files and I found a card ( I am sure there are many) that I hadn't shared.

This is the card I made for an old friend who was 80 back in October. To be honest it was a bit of a surprise to find out that he was 80.  His wife asked me to make a card for her to give him and I made this one  from us. He has worked on boats all his life so a nautical themed card was appropriate. The background paper came from a pad from the Works.

This is a Crafter's Companion die.

I made this little scene with Nautical Scenes Die Set  from Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine. The anchors at the bottom came from an old card. The 80th was cut with Crafter's Companion dies.

There you have it. I will be sharing this blog post when I get back from invigilating.

Nautical Cards are Popular!

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? It was lovely to have an extra day at the weekend. We got so much done in the garden. We collected my cards from the Hampshire Open Studios event. We stayed behind to help others tidy up. Then in the evening we went out for a meal with our friends.

Before I took my cards to the barn I photographed them in groups. Yesterday, I printed off the photos and I checked through marking off the cards I had bought home. Altogether I sold 44 cards and all but one of my nautical cards sold. I have a much better idea about what to do next year.

Here is one of the smaller nautical cards I made with the Nautical Scenes die set from Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine.

I made a few of these 5" x 5" cards. All the papers came from a paper pad from The Works. They do some cracking craft items. I used Snippets of paper to make the background.

The sky was made with some paper I had inked with the aid of surgical spirit. Then I used the dies to layer up a scene using lots of Snippets of blue and white paper.

I was quite surprised how popular these cards were in the sale. I think I will make some more.

Nautical Scenes die set - Take Two

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a good week and that you have something nice planned for the weekend. This afternoon we will be setting up my table at the Open Studios event. On Sunday it will be my husband's tea party at our local tea shop. It is going to be a busy weekend.

After Wednesday's post I had another try with the Nautical Scenes die set that came free with Simply Cards & Papercraft issue 192.

All the papers I used came from a 12 x 12  paper pad that came from The Works. It was very good value and I loved the colours. All the papers are double sided.

I used the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions to make the frame and to cut the acetate to go in the frame. To create the scene inside I used dies from the Nautical Scenes die set.

I used some of the other dies in the set to add interest to this panel.

I do like making nautical cards. This one will go in the sale. I will let you know how it goes.
