Just Because Card made with Patterned Paper left over from making an Envelope

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you are having a great weekend. It is so lovely to have my hubby home for an extra day this week. In fact he is taking another day off later this week as it is my birthday. I am hoping we will be able to go to the cinema. The garden is coming on nicely.

When I was making a wedding card recently I didn't have an envelope large enough. So I followed a tutorial by Paul Church. The trouble is it took me three attempts to get the envelope  right. So I had a lot of  patterned paper that needed using up.

This is the card I made with some of that paper.

I have made quite a few of these cards with Snippets of paper used to create the background. The papers from the envelopes was all turquoise and blue.

For the centre I used the Sophia die set from Creative Expression. I won the Just Because die set and this is the first time I have used it. The turquoise card was left over from the wedding card too.

I do like creating backgrounds like this. I am always on the look out for ways to use up some of my Snippets and they just seem to keep accumulating.

Snippets Christmas Card in Blue

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I also hope that the week has started well for you. We were away for the weekend to celebrate my uncle's 85th birthday. We had a fabulous time and we were able to visit with family and friends as well as visiting some interesting places. I took my laptop with the intention of keeping up with everything and I managed the first evening and morning. What with the hotel WiFi not being that great and being busy it just didn't work out as I had planned. So a big sorry for not keeping up with my comments.

I have challenged myself to enter Scrappymo's Rudolph Days challenge every month. It starts on the 25th of the month and runs until the end of the month. I do like to try and keep on top of my Christmas card makes and craft them  all year round.

I have made lots of Christmas cards using Snippets of Patterned papers. This also works well with Washi Tape. I like altering the colours and the patterns that I arrange the Snippets in. They can even be different widths.

To the centre I added the Sophia die set from Creative Expressions. It is not strictly a Christmas die set but it is very pretty. I found a circular sentiment to go in the middle.

So here is another card for my stash. I think I have made about 40 Christmas cards so far this year. I have slowed down a bit lately  as I have been making Easter cards.

Moving Along with the Times (Moving Along with the Times) Challenge blog - theme A Little Shabby Chic

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? My shoulder has been playing up and I am finding it difficult to craft. Strangely I have more requests to make cards this week than for a long time.

Today the new challenge starts at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog and this time the theme is A Little Shabby Chic. Now this is not a style I usually embrace.

I had a set of beautiful papers and matching sentiments in my stash and I decided to used these to make a birthday card for a friend. I used scissors to rough the edges of the paper and Distress ink to add colour. The small piece of lace was in my stash.

Why not come and join in with our challenge click on the logo and you will be taken there.

I used the Sophia die set from Creative Expressions to cut the frame for the sentiment.

I used the Passion Flower die set from Creative Expressions to make the flower and the leaves.

Since I made this card I had a request for a 80th Birthday card. So I adapted this card to suit. I will have to make another one for my friend. I do think it is a good idea to make cards without sentiments and then to add them later when you know how they are going to be used.

Snippets Christmas card with recycled Robins

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have had a very busy two weeks but the invigilating has finished for the time being. I still don't have a lot of time to craft. I hope things will calm down soon.

I have so loved making the Christmas cards with the Snippets backgrounds. I was given lots of Christmas cards to recycle at the weekend. When I sorted them out I found a cute robin image that I wanted to use.

I made the background by cutting strips of patterned paper and gluing them to a piece of card the right size for the mat. I kept the colours a bit more muted to suit the image.

I used the Sophia die set from Creative Expressions to cut the white lacy doily and one of their Double Pierced circle dies to cut out the image from the old card. I inked the edges of the circle and added a small bow.

I just love making these cards. If I have a bit of time at the end of a craft session I am trying to make another Christmas card. I am determined that I am going to have enough Christmas cards this year.  So far  I have made 32 Christmas cards.

Adventures in using up Patterned Paper Snippets

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Our plans changed completely when my husband came home ill on Friday afternoon. He has had a cough for a while and it just seemed to take a turn for the worse. So a weekend of rest was the order of the day. He still isn't right. I am not sure when he will go back to work.

After making my snippets Christmas cards I was having a think about making birthday cards this way. Not only do I have lots of snippets of Christmas papers but lots of other patterned paper snippets too.  Here is what I came up with.

I saw a card on Facebook which showed the lines of the card offset. I only got an impression of the card I have no idea whose card it was. After I had made all the mats and layers I cut a piece of card to cover with strips.  I did offset the strips they are an inch wide and cut on my guillotine. When I had covered the card and cut the strips around the edge I used some Distress ink on the edges.

I wanted an intricate die to make a focal point on the card. I chose to use the Sophia die set from Creative Expression. The sentiment in the middle came from a Hunkydory kit that came free with a magazine.

Once you have made a card do you get ideas on how you could improve the design. This was the case here. I had some time to craft on Saturday I will share with you what I made soon.

Have a great week.

Crafty Catz Challenge blog - Anything Goes with the optional twist of using Purples and Mauves

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

The weekend is nearly here. I hope you have something nice planned. This is the first post from me today. There will be another one in about half an hour. I am helping at a Felting workshop today the other lady who helps can't make it today so I am stepping up to the plate.

Being Friday the new challenge starts on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes and this time the optional twist is Use Mauves and Purples. I am hosting this challenge so it was me who got to choose the images from our fabulous sponsor Rick St Dennis.

I won the Sophia die from one of the launches on Sue Wilson's blog. I used it in the background of the bunny. All the papers were in my stash.

There are many wonderful images in the store some a little unusual if you click on the logo you will be taken there.

This image is called Running Bunny and is available HERE. He was printed onto Neenah card and coloured with Promarkers. Then I cute him out with my ScanNcut. He is very cute.

I sent this card to my sister for Easter she loves bunnies.
