Christmas cards made from recycled Packaging.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going. We are both invigilating this week and the first part of next week. These are practice exams for the Year 10s. There isn't much time to craft. It is lovely to have this afternoon off today. This means we can catch up with a few things.

I should have been working on a different project but I ended up making two Christmas cards from some packaging I had been saving.

The background is the packaging I had been saving. It was just too pretty to throw away. The craft card I used comes between the layers in a takeaway box from M&S. I did add the Snowflakes corner dies from the John Next Door range. I have used these corners so much.

I found two matching old Christmas Cards and I cut out the image and its mats with a mix of dies from the John Next Door range.

The greeting was cut into the card with the Christmas Stencil Sentiment dies also from the John Next Door range.

So that is another two cards for my Christmas stash. Now I must get on with the project I have been putting off.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Happy Crafting

Christmas card made for the Rudolph Days - January Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I can't believe how close we are until the end of January. This means it is time for the January Rudolph Days Challenge. It runs from the 25th until the end of the month for your Christmas makes. I do like this challenge it keeps me on track with my Christmas makes.

Here is my contribution for this month.

You know that I like using old cards. This card uses not one but two  cards. The image was taken from one and the background holly paper from another. I added some white foliage with the Holly Spray die from the John Next Door range. I also used one of his small sentiments from the Star Tags die set.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

Glamourous Ladies Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a good weekend. We actually went to a socially distanced concert on Saturday. It was so lovely to be at an event. Everything was in place to keep you safe. I can't believe we are so close to Christmas.

This is the card that I made for my good friend. We decided to meet for a walk to swap cards so I was able to make her card a bit bigger.

I keep cards with images of this type of lady. My friend likes them a lot.

So this image was cut from an old card.

The Poinsettias and Ivy were cut with dies by John Next Door. I added pearls to the centres to make them a bit more opulent. At the back is white glitter card.

I know my friend liked this card. It was lovely seeing her for a walk. Unfortunately we did get caught in the rain. Tonight is the night that  two planets are in conjunction  which will make what some people are calling the Bethlehem star. I do hope the skies will be clear enough to see it.

Have a good week.

Pirate themed Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? We have been trying to sort out bits for Christmas. We will be spending some time with our daughter and son-in-law but we know we will be on our own for a lot of the time. Our idea is to make things as nice for ourselves as we can. That will take a bit of planning. We are not buying many presents this year. Though we will be sending a lot of cards.

Here is the birthday card I made for our son-in-law. He plays an online pirate themed game with his friend. So when I found one of the old cards I had been given had a pirate on, I put it to one side.

The paper came from a paper pad I bought in The Works. I liked the pad so much I bought two of them. I am very glad I did. There was red foil on the card. So I made mats and layers with red mirror card.

As I said the main image is from a card. Can you see the cheeky cocktail glass I added?

A while ago I was asked to make a tropical themed wedding card. I bought some Tropical Sizzix dies that you can see here.

Our son-in-law liked this card. It is just a bit of fun. It is such a shame so many celebrations have been curtailed this year.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

Pretty Floral Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? We seem to be getting busier as each week goes by. This weekend coming will be a busy one. Most of the plans involve being outside so I hope that the weather holds.

I have been struggling to craft and to be honest it is not getting any easier. Most of the things I make seem to be very simple and I am not sure that people want to see those. Anyway here is a simple card that I made from an old card.

I created a purple card blank. Then I cut the old card to fit the card blank.

I cut the Renmore die set and backed it with a purple mat. I added two butterflies cut with the Small Butterflies dies. Both are from the John Next Door range. The sentiment was cut with a Crafter's Companion die.

This is a pretty little card to send to someone.

Have a good weekend.

The Anniversary card I made for our Anniversary at the beginning of April

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are you getting on? Things are changing slightly. We aren't rushing out to the tip or the Garden Centre and my hubby can still work from home. Not much is changing for us.

As the title of this post says I made this card a while ago and I am not sure why I haven't got round to sharing it before.

When I made the gift bag and card for my friend I rediscovered my oriental paper pad. I used some of the paper on this card.

The image came from an old card. The bears are so cute. I cut the image and the mats with the Double Pierced Rectangle dies from Creative Expressions.

This die is a Signature die. I have used it a lot.

My hubby did like his card. On the day we had a take away pizza. It is interesting what has become a treat now.

Penguin Christmas Card for the March Rudolph Days Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are you getting on? We are managing okay. Going shopping is a bit hairy but we do need to eat. I am being creative with ingredients. There is lots of time to have a go. We have a big puzzle to dabble with. My husband is working from home and I am making cards and needle felting. Hobbies are great.

I love joining in with the Rudolph Days Challenge each month. It starts on the 25th of the month and runs until the end of the month. This is a great way to keep on top of your Christmas makes. I wonder if things will be okay by Christmas?

Somewhere I saw a sketch that I liked. I decided to follow the sketch for a Design Team make but the image I was working with  just didn't work. I went to my supply of old cards and I found an image that I could use.

I chose matching blue papers. When I follow a sketch I like to mat the shapes with black so the design is obvious.

I chose this penguin image from my old cards. I cut the image and its mat with some Tonic Dies. The greeting is a Tattered Lace die.

I was so pleased that I was able to use this sketch and that my effort did not go to waste. Don't worry the Design Team card got made as well.

Christmas cards made with Recycled Packaging

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? What things have you been up to. Our neighbours have finally replaced the broken fence between our properties. I have been holding back from doing any planting in our front border in case in got trodden on. Now I have the delightful prospect of working out which plants to put in.

I have challenged myself to join in with the Rudolph Days challenge every month. The challenge is for Christmas cards and starts on the 25th of the month and runs until the end of the month. I was doing quite well with making Christmas cards earlier in the year but just so much else to do I haven't made so many. If it wasn't for the Rudolph Days challenge I might not have made any. I really don't want to be making them at the last minute the way I did last year.

I was looking for something in my Christmas stash and I came across some packing for some slipper socks that I had saved. I love the snowflake border around the edge of the panels I matted and layered the panels.

I found a square image for the top of the card.

The sentiment cut with a John Next Door die fitted onto one of the flaps.

The second card was made in the same way.

I cut a sentiment with a Creative Expressions die in white glitter card.

This snowflake was on one of the panels I added a die cut snowflake over the top.

Here are both cards together both made from the same packaging.

Snippets Christmas card with recycled Robins

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have had a very busy two weeks but the invigilating has finished for the time being. I still don't have a lot of time to craft. I hope things will calm down soon.

I have so loved making the Christmas cards with the Snippets backgrounds. I was given lots of Christmas cards to recycle at the weekend. When I sorted them out I found a cute robin image that I wanted to use.

I made the background by cutting strips of patterned paper and gluing them to a piece of card the right size for the mat. I kept the colours a bit more muted to suit the image.

I used the Sophia die set from Creative Expressions to cut the white lacy doily and one of their Double Pierced circle dies to cut out the image from the old card. I inked the edges of the circle and added a small bow.

I just love making these cards. If I have a bit of time at the end of a craft session I am trying to make another Christmas card. I am determined that I am going to have enough Christmas cards this year.  So far  I have made 32 Christmas cards.

Christmas Santa

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a great weekend. We have actually finished the wedding invitations they are in the post. We also visited our parents as we had to cancel last week

I have been joining in with the Rudolph Days challenge. It is great way to keep up with my Christmas makes.

I used papers from my stash to create the background.

I have people who give me their old Christmas cards. This fantastic topper was on one of these card and it was just too good not to reuse.

I used the Snowflake border die to create the border.

I found this Noel in my stash it seemed to suit the card.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - the theme Love/ Valentine's

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? I had a day catching up with job yesterday. Today I am going out with a friend. We both like crafting so we might come back here and make some things together after lunch.

Being the first Tuesday of the month the new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog. The theme is Love/ Valentine's. This is just the right time of year to be making this kind of card.

I used an old card to make this card. The flowery rose paper was inside the card and fitted my card nicely. I cut the aperture with my Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions.

This is such a cute image. The die I used for the sentiment is one from Tattered Lace. I don't know if they still make this one, The ribbon with the bow came from another card. So there was lots of recycling in this make.

I will be sending this card to my cousin. She is going through some treatment at the moment and I want her to know that we are thinking of her. She love hedgehogs she often posts pictures of the ones that come to her garden on Facebook.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) - Theme add a charm or tag.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going. I am helping at another Felting workshop tomorrow. I am really enjoying these workshops and I am learning a lot.

It is Team B's turn at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge Blog the theme this time is to Add a Charm or a Tag.

I went for adding a charm. You know how I love to recycle old cards this card has used not one but two old cards. I did used the Falling Snow embossing folder from Creative Expressions for one of the layers. The brown and white layer is an old card.

This stag image is wonderful and it has a sentiment and a bit of sparkle.

I was looking for a deer image as I knew I had a deer charm from back when I was on Sam Poole's design team. I used Baker's Twine to attach it to the card and a little gel glue to stop it turning round.

I was quite pleased with how this one turned out and it is another Christmas card for my stash. My card total has gone backwards as I sent some to a lady having a charity sale.

I would like to enter the October Rudolph Days Challenge

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Framed Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Well that was another busy weekend. They do just seem to flash by. On Saturday we cleaned out the bunnies (that takes a while), we worked on the Save the Date cards for the Malta wedding and we booked our accommodation and flights for the same wedding. On Sunday  we went to church for the harvest service then we went to Fleet to take my parents out for lunch and finally we went to Newbury to collect our daughter's hamster, who had died, from our new in-laws. It is a shame that the little hamster didn't last until they returned from their honeymoon. I need the week to get over the weekend.

I was making a card for one of the Design Teams I am on and I made a square frame for the image I was using then I decided a rectangular frame would suit it better. You will be able to see this card on first November. That left me with a rather nice frame.  I hunted through the old cards, that I have a stack of in the spare room, to find some images that might suit the frame.

The frame was cut with the Double Pierced Square dies designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions. I used Cherry and Old Gold Centura pearl card the. There is a layer of white glitter card in there to and the card blank was black.

I thought this image from an old card went well with the frame.

The banner came from another card.

A nice simple make I just couldn't waste that frame. I have used all my sheets of Cherry card now I think I will have to order some more.

Have a great week.
