Unicorn Challenge Blog - Inspired by a Nursery Rhyme or Fairy Tale

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? We are all back at work after our week off. It isn't long now until the school summer holidays.  We have just booked ourselves a holiday and it was a bargain. It needed to be what with a wedding to plan.

The first Tuesday of the month see the start of a new challenge on the Unicorn Challenge blog this will be our tenth challenge. The theme is to be inspired by a Nursery Rhyme or a Fairy Tale. My image comes from a children's story which is permissible too. He is the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland with his great big clock.

All the stamps I used are from Visible Image a small company based in Wales. To create the background I stamped the clock stamps with Perfect Medium and heat embossed them with a black sparkly embossing powder. Then I inked over the page with some Distress Inks. Finally I sprayed water all over the page and blotted it dry with some paper towel this tones down the colour.

The White Rabbit was stamped with black archival ink onto water colour card and he was coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I covered the clock and the eye of the rabit with Glossy Accents. I stamped a separate clock and cut it out and that is also covered with Glossy Accents. The frame for the image was made with some of Sue Wilson's dies.

The sentiment also comes from Visible Image I love the quirky font.

The ribbon was in my stash. I enjoyed making this card they are fantastic stamps to use.

Enjoy the rest of the week., I am hoping to get some crafting done.

Take care.

Fantasy Stampers - Lots of Layers

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

As you know we are on a cruise and today we should be in Malaga visiting the Picasso museum in the city of his birth. Get us, we are so cultured.

Today sees the start of a new challenge at Fantasy Stampers and the theme is lots of layers. Why not join us for some fun? Don't forget the stamping.

This is the card I made using  stamps from Visible Image. I used the White Rabbit set, the No Regrets word set and the Pocket Watches set. I even used two layers of ribbon from my stash. The background was made with the Tick Tock stamp and the pocket watch stamps. I stamped and heat embossed the silver ones first and then the gold ones and finally the Tick Tocks in black. The whole sheet was inked with two shades Distress ink. This is my favourite way to make a background.

White Rabbit was coloured with Promarkers the background was coloured with my Spectrum Noir pencils. I wanted him to look like he was coming through a door. The pocket watch with the rabbit and the gold one I made as an embellishment were covered with Glossy Accents.

The sentiment is from the No Regrets set  I used two layers to mount it. I love layers. It is quite a versatile card it could be used for many different occasions.

Someone has seen this card and wants to buy it so it is off to a good home. This challenge was right up my street I do like my layers.

When I get back I will post some pictures from the cruise. I do hope that you have a good week.

Happy Crafting

White Rabbit

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

We are getting closer to Easter and I still have two days at work to go, school doesn't finish until Thursday. How are your Easter plans going?

I made this card for my cousin's daughter who is appearing in a youth production of Alice in Wonderland. We are going up to Suffolk to see the show on Saturday but I have posted the card as I wanted her to get it for the first one of the run.

I ordered some Visible Image stamps recently and this one just popped into my basket it was so right for what I wanted. I started with a 7" x 7" black card blank. I made the background by stamping the Tick Tock stamp that came with the rabbit with CS Perfect Medium and heat embossing it with white detail powder. Then I took the believe from the free set of Visible Image  stamps that came with Craft Stamper magazine last Christmas this was heat embossed with gold powder. The ribbon came from my stash.

The white rabbit was stamped with CS Perfect medium and then heat embossed with a black sparkly embossing powder. I coloured him with Promarkers and I inked round him with Distress ink the image was protected  with a mask while this was done. Glossy Accents was used on the clock face. I love using Glossy Accents and creating my own embellishments.

I hope she likes the card. We are looking forward to seeing the show and catching up with some of our family at the same time. After we will drive all the way home so that we can have Easter Sunday with our daughter and her boyfriend.

We are quite busy over the Easter holiday I fear my little blog will be a bit neglected. So I will take this opportunity  to wish you all a very Happy Easter.

Happy Crafting
