John Next Door inspired Christmas card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How are you all? I hope you are well. My plan to share all my Christmas cards before the big day was scuppered yesterday as I was asked, at short notice, to make some more. Which I have done. I
don't like to let anyone down.

I wonder if you can guess who I made this card for? It went in a parcel with some Jelly Babies and special Maltesers. It should have been received by now.

I started by cutting a circle from some read core card. I then embossed it with the Snowflake Circle Embossing Folder from the John Next Door range. I sanded the card so the snowflakes stood out more.

I used the Christmas Scene Stamp set also from John Next Door to create the background I used the circle media plate. The stamps were all lined up on my Tim Holtz stamping platform.

The ribbon came from a gift bag and the pearls were left over from making wedding flowers. I hate to waste anything.

I was pleased with how this card turned out. You know I have got no idea how many Christmas cards I have made this year. That isn't going to help with planning next year.

Enjoy your day.

Creative Artiste Challenge Blog - Lace and Pearls

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are all ready for your weekend. I am back again with another post today. There are a lot of challenges that start at the beginning of the month.

There is a new challenge starting on the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog and the theme is Lace and Pearls. We do have a sponsor Deedee's images and we all chose images to use. My choice gave me a little bother with the theme but I got there.

I used the Caroling Snowman he comes in a zip file and there was a precoloured image included. This did save me quite a bit of time. You have the option you can choose to colour one if you wish. It is good to have the choice. I had the Nordic paper in my stash as well as he lace. The die to cut the music is a Tattered Lace die. I added large pearls to three of the corners.

I did put some CS White PVA dots on the snow flakes on the image and covered them with CS Diamond Sprinkles.

If you click on the logo above you will be taken to the store.

Now I have a little confession. I didn't read the brief for the challenge properly and this is the first card that I made. I was rather pleased with it so I will be sending it to someone this Christmas.

Just a reminder of the card for the challenge. It just goes to show that Lace and Pearls can be a versatile theme.

Crafts Galore Encore - Anything Goes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good day. I have been back to work this morning it was a training day so no children not until tomorrow.

I don't usually post twice in one day. Two of the Design Teams I am on their challenges start today. This is my inspiration card for the Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog. The theme of the challenge is Anything Goes and it really can be anything, any craft you like. I make a lot of cards so that is what I stuck to.

I have had the Sizzix accordion die for a very long time and I decided this was finally time to use it.  The die cuts the card with flaps to attach one piece to another piece and the score lines for folding.

In my stash I had a very old Hunkydory kit with pre-made card blanks I decided to cut them up to make this card. That way everything toned together.

The kit came with vintage toppers that fitted the die cuts so well.

This is not a particularly easy card to photograph. I do like how it folds out. I thought the use of pearls and the corners were a nice finishing touch.

This is the front of the card and would be what someone would see when it is first opened.  Now I have used this die once I have lots of ideas for what to do next. I would like to make a mini album for the grandparents with photos of all the grandchildren and their partners.

We have a Sponsor this month Di's Digis and the prize it three images of the winners choice from the store. The Design Team didn't get any images to use but I have looked at the store and the images are very cute.

Don't forget the theme is Anything Goes so there is lots of scope and the entry doesn't have to be a card.

I would like to enter the challenge at Try it on a Tuesday - try something new.

I would also like to enter the challenge at Cuttlebug Mania - Anything Goes.

I hope that you have a good week.

Fantasy Stampers - The Colour Purple

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a good and are ready for a fab weekend. I have a busy one ahead part of the time we will be helping our daughter to move. She will be moving nearer to her work which make sense to save on travel expenses.

There is a new challenge starting today on the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog the theme is The Colour Purple which also happens to be my favourite colour.

My friend's birthday is soon so I made this card for her as her favourite colour is purple too.  To create the background I used the Clarity Stamp Heart Rose. It was stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a clear powder and then inked over with two shades of Distress Ink.

The rose was created with the My Paper Stash 3D Rose stamp set. I stamped the set with Plum Archival ink and then I cut out the shapes with my ScanNcut I could never have cut the leaves like that by hand. Then I used Distress Ink to paint the rose with a watercolour brush. The layers were put together with gel glue.

In the top corner I added the large butterfly by Visible Image.

I hope my friend likes this card I know she will like the colour.

Don't forget the challenge at Fantasy Stampers and if you check back tomorrow the winners of the last challenge will be announced.

Have a great weekend.

Anniversary Hearts

Hi Bloggers

How has your week been so far?  As usual at this time of year things are getting very busy, Today I have just been on a trip to Bursledon Windmill it is very interesting and well worth a visit and in the Spring they will start milling their own flour.

I am sharing a quick little card today that was made with all the leftovers from the wedding card I made last week. So it will be just right for Pixie's Snippets Playground this time. I think silver and white is a classic combination for weddings and anniversarys. So I couldn't let all the bits and bobs go to waste.

I am sorry about the quality of the photos the light is really tricky at this time of year and of course the card doesn't have much contrast. Can you spot my slight slip with the background embossing.?

The hearts were made for the original card but when I laid out the mats and embellishments before I stuck them down these hearts just didn't look right. So I put them to one side and had another go. But they were too pretty not to use on another project,

The sentiment was cut from a scrap of silver paper.

There you have it quite a simple card but a good one to have in my stash. I am starting to work on some wedding invitations  for a relative it will be a hefty project to get my teeth into.

We are off to see Michael McIntyre tomorrow  I can't wait. Enjoy the rest of the week.
