Deer in the Forest Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have been helping Felting Workshop this morning. Tomorrow we are going to the theatre to see the show Magic that Goes Wrong. We are looking forward to it. This is one of the things that got delayed from last year. I will let you know how we get on.

I have been making Christmas cards again. Here is my latest one.

I started this card a while ago. I found all the bits on the side so I made it up. The corner dies are from one of John Next Door's Christmas releases this year. The patterned paper was in my stash.

The trees were made with an old Creative Expressions die set called Winter Trees. The Deer were made with a Sizzix die set.

I  have made about 90 cards this year and I have bought a few from a talented friend so we should  have about enough. I do want to make some special cards still.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

A Bit More Time to Craft - Challenge 102 - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? It was so wet yesterday but I did get out for coffee with a friend. Today I have a quiet day to finish things off and pack. Tomorrow we are going to London for a Bootleg Beatles concert at the Royal Albert Hall. It is part of In the End tour and will feature music from the Let It Be and Abbey Road albums. I am super excited about this trip.

The new challenge starts today on the A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge blog. The theme is always Anything Goes and there are gorgeous digi papers on offer as prizes. I really enjoy working with these papers.

I have been busy making more Christmas cards. Last year I ran out and I don't want to do that this year. I used two of the paper sets the Gothic Flakes for the background and the trees were cut from the On It's Way set

Our challenges are always Anything Goes. Why not enter click on the logo and you will be taken to the challenge blog.

I cut the Happy Christmas, Creative Expression's Die, from white glitter card.

The deer family were cut with the Sizzix Winter Wonderland die set. I make the female by cutting the antlers from one of the die cuts. They were cut in Kraft card and the edges inked with Distress ink. The trees were cut with the Branched Birch die from Sizzix. It is very easy to extend this die. In the background you can just see some green trees cut with the Winter Trees dies from Creative Expressions.

I did make two of these cards. That is a two more for my stash.

More Snippets Christmas Cards

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Just to let you know that I had a lovely time at the Newbury Craft show. The new organisers did a fantastic job. I came away with quite few new crafty goodies. Yesterday I met my husband in Southampton so we could go the the cinema we ended up seeing Rocketman.  This was better than we expected. Today I am having lunch with a group of people that I used to work with. Being retired does have it's upsides.

I have been making Christmas cards again. You could say that I am obsessed with making cards using Snippets.

There are just so many strips of paper around to make backgrounds with. Funny thing how ever many cards I make the pile never seems to get any smaller.

I used the deer from the Winter Wonderland die set from Sizzix. They were cut from Kraft Card and coloured with Distress ink. The ribbon in the background came from some craft stash that I inherited.

This is the second card. I do like this design I will probably make some more cards like this.

This is the Noel Word Die from Lil' inker Designs.

Here are the cards together. More for my stash of Christmas cards.

Deer on a Snowy Night

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are all well. This has been a very busy week for me. Invigilating takes quite a bit of time. Then there is my weekly visit to Winchester. Today I am doing two sessions of invigilating then I am heading into Southampton to meet my husband. Then we will meet up with our daughter and son-in-law to have a meal. After that we are all going to the theatre to see American Idiot. I hope it will be a good show.

Last week when I had a bit of time, I had a bit of a tidy of my crafty stash and I found a lovely piece of paper that would make a wonderful snowy background for a Christmas card.

The backing paper came from an old edition of Making Cards Magazine. I did find that I had another sheet of the paper so I may well recreate this card to add to my stash. I extended the Branched Birch die from Sizzix. Once the trees were cut I inked them with Distress Inks. Behind the trees I added a silver circle to create the moon.

I cut the deer from the Winter Wonderland die set from Sizzix out of craft card and inked them with Distress ink. I removed the antlers from one of the adult deer to make a female.

This is a die from Creative Expressions. I cut it in gold and another in brown to make a shadow, I do find that adding a shadow helps the sentiment to show up against a busy background.

I think I have made over 30 Christmas cards so far this year. All of them are flat and will small enough to go on ordinary postage. I don't want to get caught out like I did last year.

I would have like to enter this card into the Rudolph Days Challenge but there isn't one this month. The lovely Maureen who hosts the challenge is having some surgery and needs time to recover.

Have a great weekend.

Delicate Pine Frame Gift Card Holder

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I bet you have been busy. We got all our cards sorted for posting on Saturday. On Sunday our daughter and son-in-law came to us so we could go to the Nativity service at our church. The big draw was that there were live animals at the church. After the service we all drove to Fleet to take my parents out for a meal. After the meal we headed over to see my husband's parents. When we got home we collapsed in a heap. But of course there were still more things to do.

As we get closer to Christmas I have had a few last minute creations to make. I needed a holder for some gift cards.

I really like the Delicate Pine frame from Memory Box.  I needed a bigger card than the one I made before so on one of the layers I used the Falling Snow embossing folder from Creative Expressions.

In the corner I added a sentiment from the Star Tags die set from John Next Door.

Finally I added the small deer from the Winter Wonderland die set from Sizzix which I also I used to make the snow behind the Delicate Pine Frame.

I really do hope that you have a good week.  I know there is a lot to do. I also know that I am going to struggle to do regular blog posts. Please bear with me.

Deer in the Snow Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? I have been very busy. There just seems to be so much to do. It doesn't help when your husband needs extra cards for his work colleagues and I thought I had made extra.

I haven't made as many Christmas cards as I thought I had. Once I had made the extra cards for my husband I looked around my craft area and found lots of bits that had been cut but not used. So I made this quick card with them.

The backing paper was left over in my stash.

I used the Delicate Pine Frame die from Memory Box for the frame and the tree. The deer and the snow were cut with the Winter Wonderland dies from Sizzix.

The sentiment was cut with the sentiment die from the Happy Snowflakes die set from John Next Door.

This isn't too bad for a lot of left over bits and pieces.

Have a great weekend.

A Deer family in a Winter Forest

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am trying to sort out lots of things. Then on Thursday I have my regular trip to Winchester. I do love this and I get to see the Christmas market which I think is one of the best around.

Last week when I was there I treated myself to some dies in the pre Black Friday sales. I was very keen to play with them. The first thing I made was the card in my previous post. Then I decided to make something a bit simpler.

I have lots of off cuts of white card left over from making wedding invitations this year. They are just the right size to fit the Branched birch die. I inked through the die to make patches darker then I removed the die and lightly inked the trees. I had some navy card to cut the snow for the background.

I found some craft card in my stash of bits and cut the deer from it. I added a bit of ink to them.

The snowflake border was cut in white.

I used the same navy card as the snowy background to cut the sentiment.

I am very pleased with my new dies. They even encouraged me to get my inks out which I haven't done for a long time.

Winter Wonderland Christmas card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you are having a good weekend. There is so much to do at this time of year. On Sunday we will be visited our parents. We took  mine out for a meal and then popped  over to see my husband's parents.

Well I was out in Winchester last Thursday and there was 20% off everything in C&H fabrics and they happen to sell Sizzix dies. It would have been rude not to buy anything.

I bought the Winter Wonderland die set with four deer and some snow and the Branched Birch die both from Sizzix. There were many dies I would have liked to buy it was very tempting. I cut a frame with the Stitched Lattice dies from Creative Expressions in black I used Pebeo Gilding wax on it. I used the snow die in the background and added a shiny silver moon. I cut the Branch birch twice I inked through the die and then over the branches so they weren't so bight white.

This is the Contemporary Happy Christmas die from Creative Expressions.

I cut Santa's Sleigh in black and I used Pebeo Gilding wax on the service.

There are four deer in the set three are smaller.

The set has a male deer with antlers to make the female I removed the antlers. The tree was made with one of the Winter Trees dies from Creative Expressions.

I think you could make a nice frame with these dies I might give it a try. This reminds me of the song with the same name Winter Wonderland.

Penguin Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good day. The sun is shining here at last but it is still cold. I said the posts would be shorter and this one will be.

This is the Christmas card I made for our daughter and son-in-law. It will be their first Christmas as a married couple.

I used the Falling Snow Embossing folder in the background. I used the snowflakes from the Winter Stamp set from John Next Door. The trees and the slope were cut with a die that came free with a magazine.

The penguins were stamped and cut out with a matching stamp and die set from Sizzix.

The sentiment is in the same set with its own die.

I used these penguins on their place cards at the wedding.

Have you heard about the next issue of Quick Cards Made Easy being their last one? It is very sad I have enjoyed that magazine.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Cute Kitten Christmas Card.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a great weekend. This time of year is so busy. On Friday evening our daughter and son-in-law dropped in for a meal and I made my first roast dinner in my new oven. On Saturday we had a whole mornings practice for the service at church the next day we were singing in the choir. After that we came home and starting writing and sorting out our cards. On Sunday we had to be back at church for 8:30am for a sound check. Our church has a proper coffee shop and we were able to go there as a group for a nice coffee before the service once we were no longer needed. The service went well is was so lovely to be involved. Once home we got all the cards finished for posting. We popped out to Whiteley for some last minute shopping. This morning I went out early and all the cards went in the post.  I had made just enough cards. We just have a few last bits to do to be ready for the weekend.

I have a few Christmas cards that I have made but not shared. So this week I am going to do some quick posts to show them off and that will give me a clean slate for next year.

First up a card I made for a friend who loves her cat.

This card really did use up lots of lovely bits of papers.

This image came from an old copy of the Christmas issue of Making Cards Magazine.

I love this Sizzix stamp with its matching die.

I know that the lady who received this was thrilled.

Enjoy the rest of the week. I hope you get done all you need to get done.

Simple Gingerbread Man Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How was your weekend? I hope it was a good one. We had a lovely day on Saturday that started with breakfast out and ended with us receiving the bunnies so our daughter and her new husband can go on Honeymoon. They are booked to go Florida and we all know about the weather there at the moment we will just have to wait and see what happens. At least being here they are safe. My back is continuing to improve.

On Sunday I actually had some craft time. My husband decided he wanted work on his tax form. I set up a meal to cook in the slow cooker that left me free to craft. I have a mixed media project that I am working on  that has to be done is stages. Once I had got as far as I could I made a few simple Christmas cards to the same design. My husband finished the tax form which is good. He is very organised this year.

I really did use a lot of scraps. I found some A5 card blanks with envelopes (which I am going to stamp) and the papers came from my scrap pile as well as the black and gold card.

This is a stamp from Sizzix and it comes with a matching die.

I just love this gingerbread man stamp from the Cookie-Cutter stamp set from Stampin Up I have the matching punch. I used my Tim Holtz stamping platform and this is the first time that I have got such a good impression from the stamp. I do like to do a lot of stamping in one go when I have the stamping platform out.

Meet the bunnies they are staying with us for about four weeks. The house already smells of hay.

There are five of these cards. They are ideal being small enough and flat enough to post.

I would like to enter Weeks 297 and 298 at Pixie's Snippets Playground.

The Wedding Card I made for our Daughter and her new Husband.

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

The wedding is well and truly over. I have been very slow about getting the house sorted. We have managed to make ourselves very busy we were worried about feeling a bit flat after the wedding but that hasn't really happened. I will have a few days when I finish work to get some things sorted before we go on holiday.

I made a lot of things for the wedding and of course I made them a card as well.

As I had made things for the wedding I was able to use papers and elements from other makes for their card.

This is the top of the card.

The birdcage is an Apple Blossom die and the birds and branches are Sizzix dies.

This is the lower part of the easel.

These lovebirds were used on the invitations.

This is the happy couple just after they had been married. You can see the things I made: the trees, the bouquet, the buttonhole and the little display for the table. This photo was taken by Chris Carter of Super Effective Photography.

They had a lovely display, in their room at the hotel , of cards they had received.
