Deer in the Forest Christmas Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have been helping Felting Workshop this morning. Tomorrow we are going to the theatre to see the show Magic that Goes Wrong. We are looking forward to it. This is one of the things that got delayed from last year. I will let you know how we get on.

I have been making Christmas cards again. Here is my latest one.

I started this card a while ago. I found all the bits on the side so I made it up. The corner dies are from one of John Next Door's Christmas releases this year. The patterned paper was in my stash.

The trees were made with an old Creative Expressions die set called Winter Trees. The Deer were made with a Sizzix die set.

I  have made about 90 cards this year and I have bought a few from a talented friend so we should  have about enough. I do want to make some special cards still.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

More Snippets Christmas Cards

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Just to let you know that I had a lovely time at the Newbury Craft show. The new organisers did a fantastic job. I came away with quite few new crafty goodies. Yesterday I met my husband in Southampton so we could go the the cinema we ended up seeing Rocketman.  This was better than we expected. Today I am having lunch with a group of people that I used to work with. Being retired does have it's upsides.

I have been making Christmas cards again. You could say that I am obsessed with making cards using Snippets.

There are just so many strips of paper around to make backgrounds with. Funny thing how ever many cards I make the pile never seems to get any smaller.

I used the deer from the Winter Wonderland die set from Sizzix. They were cut from Kraft Card and coloured with Distress ink. The ribbon in the background came from some craft stash that I inherited.

This is the second card. I do like this design I will probably make some more cards like this.

This is the Noel Word Die from Lil' inker Designs.

Here are the cards together. More for my stash of Christmas cards.

Deer on a Snowy Night

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are all well. This has been a very busy week for me. Invigilating takes quite a bit of time. Then there is my weekly visit to Winchester. Today I am doing two sessions of invigilating then I am heading into Southampton to meet my husband. Then we will meet up with our daughter and son-in-law to have a meal. After that we are all going to the theatre to see American Idiot. I hope it will be a good show.

Last week when I had a bit of time, I had a bit of a tidy of my crafty stash and I found a lovely piece of paper that would make a wonderful snowy background for a Christmas card.

The backing paper came from an old edition of Making Cards Magazine. I did find that I had another sheet of the paper so I may well recreate this card to add to my stash. I extended the Branched Birch die from Sizzix. Once the trees were cut I inked them with Distress Inks. Behind the trees I added a silver circle to create the moon.

I cut the deer from the Winter Wonderland die set from Sizzix out of craft card and inked them with Distress ink. I removed the antlers from one of the adult deer to make a female.

This is a die from Creative Expressions. I cut it in gold and another in brown to make a shadow, I do find that adding a shadow helps the sentiment to show up against a busy background.

I think I have made over 30 Christmas cards so far this year. All of them are flat and will small enough to go on ordinary postage. I don't want to get caught out like I did last year.

I would have like to enter this card into the Rudolph Days Challenge but there isn't one this month. The lovely Maureen who hosts the challenge is having some surgery and needs time to recover.

Have a great weekend.

Two cards made with the Delicate Pine Frame Die Set

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? We had a busy time as usual. We did buy a tiny Christmas Tree and it is in the lounge waiting to be decorated.

A little while ago I was lucky and I won a die on the Crafter's Castle Challenge Blog. It arrived last week and I couldn't wait to have a play.

I won the Delicate Pine Frame die from Memory Box. That includes the frame the tree and the birds.  I added a snow background with the Winter Wonderland die from Sizzix. The deer come with that die set too. The Happy Christmas comes from the Star Tags dies set from John Next Door.

I made another card with the same design in  red, white and blue.  I know just who to send this card too.

Here they are together. I am think I am getting close to the number of Christmas cards I need. If I find I am short I might make some more of these. Have a great week.

Hunkydory Christmas cards

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? We had a fabulous time at Destination Star Trek at the NEC in Birmingham. If you love Star Trek you will understand.

As you might know I have been struggling to get my Christmas made this year. I bought a copy of Cardmaking and Papercraft that had a free Hunkdory Christmas papercraft  kit. I loved using this kit. I made quite a few cards.

This one was my favourite I used the snow globe and one of the backing papers.

There was a set of robin cards. I love seeing robins on Christmas cards.

Here is a selection of cards with snowy scenes.

The I made cards with deer on.

I made all of these cards in one session. There are some bits of the kits left so there will be at least another couple of cards to come. A lot of these cards will go to the Brownie Coffee Morning my friend is organising.

Have a great week. I know a lot of people are on half term this week.

Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge blog - Anything Goes with the optional twist One for the Ladies

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Here we are, the weekend is nearly here. I hope you have something nice planned. We might be seeing our friend that we didn't see last weekend. Other than that there are always jobs to catch up with. I am also waiting to make some wedding invitations there is a piece of artwork that needs to be finished first.

The new challenge starts today on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes this time with the optional twist of One for the Girls the sponsor is Rick St Dennis.

Don't be too shocked but I made a Christmas card.

I found some pretty papers to use in the background. I also had a look through my left over die-cuts and used some of them.

There are many wonderful images in the store if you click on the logo you will be taken there.

This image is called Best Frenemies and is available HERE. I printed onto Neenah card and coloured the image with Promarkers.

I hope you have a great weekend.

MDF Bauble

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? I am into the last week at school before the Christmas holiday. There is a lot to remember to do. All our cards are posted but I did find that I didn't have enough cards for the people at work this is because the team I am in has expanded. So I have been frantically making some quick cards. I can't quite bring myself to buy some from a shop.

When we went to the Portsmouth Craft show, back in October,  I was rather taken by some MDF baubles that came with lights. I bought two but I have only decorated one so far.

The bauble has four layers and I painted each layer separatley with arylic paint.  The nice thing about the layers is that they give dimension and you can change the order and the way round they are.

To add some interest I put glue over the snowflakes and added some clear glitter.

I added a bow and some holly to the bottom of the bauble.

Here you can see the lights.

Here are the lights in the dark. This bauble is now hanging up in our dining room and it looks very nice there too.

Enjoy the rest of the week

Christmas Deer Snow Globe Shaker Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I have had a marvellous crafty weekend. At the charity workshop, on Saturday,  I made six Christmas cards. I won lots of crafty stash in the raffle and we had a wonderful lunch and lots of cake. Today we went to the Portsmouth Craft show and we met my crafty friend there. We had a lovely chat over the free tea and coffee.

I have been making shaker cards with my Snow Globe die set again. This time I have been stamping the images inside the globe.

I made the layers and the background. I stuck the bar across the pattern paper, before sticking it down, I cut the snow globe die with out its cutting edge out of the paper. It took a bit of effort because of the layers but it worked. I do find this is the best method to use this die set.

I stamped the deer, that came with the stamp set on Creative Stamping Magazine issue 34, onto water colour card and coloured them with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I cut it out with a circle die that was large enough to give a border to stick to the treat cup. I used an anti static bag on the treat cup and I filled it with a snow effect glitter. Next I stuck the image to the treat cup. Finally this can be stuck to the gold background. If you lay it on lightly you can line up the correct position with the top layer.

The holly stamp came with the same set from the magazine.

I used the Sue Wilson Happy Christmas die again for the sentiment. It was cut in black and gold so I could create a shadow.

I cut the snow globe die with the cutting edge from black card. When you lay in over the top of the treat cup you can see the gold through from the under layer.

Here is my stash from the Portsmouth Craft show. My crafty friend gave me all the stamps on the right. She is a very generous lady. I am looking forward to making the MDF baubles and they have lights.

I enjoyed making this card. I like a challenge.

We are off for a few days away starting tomorrow. I am taking the laptop so I should be in touch it might be a bit intermittent though we are there to have fun.

Have a great week.
