Unicorn Challenge - Add Some Glitter

How is your week going? Christmas preparations have really notched up a step. There is so much to do.  I hope your plans are going well. Yesterday I sorted out all the presents that need posting so they can go in the post today. Every little helps.

The new challenge on the Unicorn Challenge blog starts today the theme is Add Some Glitter.

I made this card after watching a demonstration by Sue Wilson on Hochanda. For the background layer I took a piece of white card and I stamped some poinsettias in black archival around the edge. Once the ink was dry I  stamped the same poinsettias with Perfect Medium, over the black ones, these were then heat embossed with some gold embossing powder. Finally I inked over the edges of the card with Black Soot Distress ink.  

I took a piece of black card and I stamped the poinsettias with Perfect Medium over the surface. Then I dusted them with two shades of mica powder. Then from the center of the black  I cut last years festive angel by Sue Wilson. Behind the black sheet I put a double sided sticky sheet. I cut a gold angel which this time I embossed to get all of the detail. The angel was placed in the aperture of the black sheet and stuck to the sticky sheet. I used some fine glitter to cover the exposed sticky sheet. 

Peace was cut from some glitter card. Around the edge of the black I added some dries clear glue and I sprinkled it with a course glitter. I added gold dazzlers to the corners and ribbon across the center. 

I have been asked to make two more of these cards for a friend. So now I have three black angels to use, I think I can feel a design coming on. I have lost count of how many Christmas cards I have made this year but I am getting worried that I don't have enough. Time is running out and there is wedding prep to do as well.

Snowy Christmas Card

I hope you are having a good weekend. Yesterday our daughter actually bought a wedding dress and now it is hanging up in our spare bedroom. Today we are taking our daughter back to her house ready to fit  some beading round the new rabbit room so the bunnies can go home next week.

I was a bit naughty and treated myself to a subscription to Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine. This month the free gift was a snowflake die, a snowflake embossing folder and some stamps. Not bad really. I used the gift to make this card.

I created the background on watercolour card with a mix of Brushos, Pixie Powders and Distress ink. Once it was dry I stamped one of the snowflake stamps in Perfect Medium over the background and dusted it with gold mica powder. Then I stamped the same stamp with Cobalt Archival. I cut the die seven times out of white pearl card. 

I used the Sue Wilson Pireced flag dies to create the flag. Then I used another stamp from the set for the sentiment.  

Here you can see the detail of the die. In the magazine there is a rather nice ornament made with this die. I might have a go at making some.

I was very pleased wtih how this card turned out.

Creative Artiste Challenge Blog - Anythings Goes

I hope that you have had a wonderful week and that you have got done all the things that you wanted to do. I have a week mostly catching up on jobs. I am now preparing for our daughter to visit this evening. The plan is to make my husband a birthday cake and tomorrow we are going somewhere so she can try on wedding dresses. This is super exciting.

The first Friday of the month see the start of a new challenge on the Creative Artiste Challenge blog and the theme is Anything Goes. We have a sponsor Stamporations and the Design Team were sent masks to work with. I was sent the Shutters mask and the Bold Florals mask.

The masks were quite different so I decided to make two cards. 

To create the background I laid the Bold Florals mask on to some watercolour card. First I sprinkled some mica over the mask and then with a brush I put some Brusho powder where I wanted it on the design. Now it was time to spritz it with water. While it was still wet I lifted the mask and I left the design to dry. As I had  added mica the background has a slight shimmer. 

Here is a close up on the background. I was lots of fun to create. 

The lilies were created with a Spellbinder die set and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I really do try to use them whenever I can. I love the way they can be moved around with water.  

I used a Sue Wilson die to cut the flag and its mat. The sentiment was cut with a Britannia word die set.  I didn't want to put too much on the card to hide the pretty background. 

This card is quite different in tone. I actually made this one first. I put the Shutter mask onto some water colour card. It was sprinkled with some of my Brushos this time more randomly. Once this was done I spritzed the mask with water. I removed the mask and turned it inky side down onto some ready and waiting watercolour card. This is how I created the second mat. 

The sentiment came from the Woodware Gone to Seed stamp set. It was stamped in Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a sparkly black powder.

I had lots of fun making these cards. I love masks all the things you can do with them they are so versatile.
