My Cards for the October Rudolph Days Challenge

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I hope it was a good one. This weekend was quiet for us my hubby picked up a cold which really wiped him out. So not much happened here.  This week is half term so everywhere will be busy. I will still get out and do a few things.

I love to enter the Rudolph Days Challenge each month it really keeps me on track with my Christmas cards. The October Challenge has started and will end on the last day of the month.

I was going through my stash and I came across some images and papers that I had  since 2014. So it was about time they got used.

The image and papers came from Making Cards Magazine back in 2014. I know because the date is on some of the sheets. I made tent fold cards as I had to card blanks left over when I made some other cards.

I had made another Art Deco card for a friend and I came across these images when I was looking for something to put inside her  card.

This is a Creative Expressions die.

This is the second card that I made. I inked the edge of the image so that showed up against the background.

Here are the cards together. Now some of my friends can have Art Deco cards.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Have a great week.

Cute Kitten Christmas Card.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a great weekend. This time of year is so busy. On Friday evening our daughter and son-in-law dropped in for a meal and I made my first roast dinner in my new oven. On Saturday we had a whole mornings practice for the service at church the next day we were singing in the choir. After that we came home and starting writing and sorting out our cards. On Sunday we had to be back at church for 8:30am for a sound check. Our church has a proper coffee shop and we were able to go there as a group for a nice coffee before the service once we were no longer needed. The service went well is was so lovely to be involved. Once home we got all the cards finished for posting. We popped out to Whiteley for some last minute shopping. This morning I went out early and all the cards went in the post.  I had made just enough cards. We just have a few last bits to do to be ready for the weekend.

I have a few Christmas cards that I have made but not shared. So this week I am going to do some quick posts to show them off and that will give me a clean slate for next year.

First up a card I made for a friend who loves her cat.

This card really did use up lots of lovely bits of papers.

This image came from an old copy of the Christmas issue of Making Cards Magazine.

I love this Sizzix stamp with its matching die.

I know that the lady who received this was thrilled.

Enjoy the rest of the week. I hope you get done all you need to get done.

Polkadoodles free image from Making Cards Magazine

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? It is a bit windy here today.  I am popping into Southampton later to meet my husband for lunch. He has taken a half day leave so we can do a bit of Christmas shopping. The Christmas market is in full swing and Santa flies twice a day.

I wasn't going to blog today but I was so pleased with how this card turned out I wanted to share it. I used the  Polkadoodles image that was free for Making Cards Magazine readers called Hollybobs Choir.

I made a frame for the image with the Double Pierced Square dies from Creative Expressions. Those dies are so useful.

The image I received was a PNG with meant that I could put it onto my own background. I just used Publisher to put it all together. Them I coloured the couple with Promarkers.

The sentiment was found in my stash. I cut the mat with the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions. Yes I have those to and one day I would love to have the Double Pierced Ovals.

I did like using this image. Being a PNG made it so much easier to use.

Enjoy your day.

With Love

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you  had a great Easter break?  For us it has been good we have got so much done. A gardening project was completed, my husband  bought a suit, rings were polished, groom and groomsmen suits were ordered and  we sorted out  the table decorations. We saw family and friends it was a good break. I still have a few days before I go back to school which is nice.

I made another card with the image and paper from the April Issue of Making Cards Magazine. The papers and images are so pretty.

This is a 6" x 6" card.  I used a Spellbinders ornate square die to make the frame.

I used a Tattered Lace die to make the sentiment.

I coloured the just pot with my Stampin Up colouring pencils and the blender pen.

This is another card for my stash. I have a long list of jobs to start today I'd better get on.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog - Birds and Feathers

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. We still have a few days left to wait until Easter. I wonder what you have planned? We are seeing our daughter and her fiance on Monday and the table plan beckons that is going to be difficult.

This is my first time hosting  a challenge for the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) challenge blog my theme is Birds and Feathers. I hope this gives people lots of scope. I chose the theme and then I bought the February issue of Making Cards Magazine.

The papers and the image came from the magazine.

Isn't the owl cute.

This is my favourite Happy Birthday die at the moment it is from Crafter's Companion.

I think this would make a wonderful card for a man.

I hope you join in with the challenge it lasts for two weeks.

Thinking of You in Purple

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? The children finished school today and I have two more days to go until the Easter Break. We have also treated ourselves to a trip to the theatre tomorrow for our anniversary and there was a good offer on seats.

I held out for a while but in the end I couldn't resist the April issue of  Making Cards Magazine. So today I made a card with one of the images and some of the papers that came with the magazine.

This is a 6" x 6" card my husband had asked me to make some smaller cards. I used my Spellbinder's Lacy circle dies to frame the image.

The pot on the image was not coloured I used the Stampin Up water colour pencils and a blending tool to colour it.

I love how the image and the papers go so well together. I is really quite easy to make a pretty card.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

First Anniversary Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a good weekend. We had a lovely time. On Saturday we met our daughter in town and  after a nice meal we bought a beautiful tiara and a veil. One more thing ticked off the wedding to do list. On Sunday we had a meal at our local Prezzo where I drank a bit too much Prosecco. It was an offer for Mother's Day.

The couple I made the wedding stationery for last year had their first anniversary at the weekend. It is unbelievable how quickly the time has gone. I made this card for them.

I had some lovely images from a past issue of Making Cards Magazine. I used the backing paper from there too.

This is a Signature die. I was making the card and I wanted a Happy Anniversary die but I didn't have one. So I ordered one from Joanna Sheen it arrived in two days and then I finished the card.

I had to use this image for the couple. They have a story from a few years back when we had lots of snow. Well the girl had to drive home to Portsmouth along the A3 and she got stuck. Her partner walked for two hours through the snow to her and they spent the night together in the car.

I hope they liked this card.

Have a great week.

Christmas in March

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your weekend going? We visited our parents yesterday and dropped off Mother's Day presents. Next weekend is planned for veil shopping so there will be no time to visit them. Everyone is being very understanding about our time constraints at the moment. On a positive note I have finished making the flowers for the table decorations and we have solved the problem of attaching them to the glass contaniers. So lots of progress there.

I have been trying to get ahead with my Design Team makes and for one of them I needed to make a Christmas card. While all the stuff was out I made another two cards. I now have  10 Christmas cards  which is not bad considering all the other things I am making.

This was quite a simple card to make in fact I made two. The background came from an old issue of Making Cards Magazine.

I cut the Deer Family die set from Brown card. I do love this die set I go back to it again and again it was a very good investment. All the dies I used are ones designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.

I do like how the mum and baby face the dad.

I cut this Merry Christmas die from glitter card.

A nice quick but rather effective card. I think I have some more of these backgrounds I might make some more.

Thinking of You

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for the week ahead. We popped over to the New Forest  to drop off the dress I had bought for the wedding as it needed a small repair. Being earlier than we expected we just had a coffee in a rather nice pub. After that we headed into Southampton for a rather successful shopping trip followed by lunch. It was a very productive day. On Sunday I spent some time making more flowers for the wedding of course.

I was asked to make a card for a man that had a nasty road accident. The person who asked me to make the card had stayed with him until the ambulance came. I decided to use one of the owl images and papers that came with Making Cards Magazine last month.

I have made a card with this set of papers and images before and it has proved rather popular as it has been sat on my shelf especially with the person who asked me to make the card.

The owl is lovely and just a bit quirky.

I used dies I had won in a competition for the sentiment.

I have enjoyed using these images and papers from Making Cards Magazine.

Have a great week.

A Little Bird for Mother's Day

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How has your week started? I must admit that it was hard getting up this morning for work but it was okay when I got there. Lots of people were interested in our holiday and the news of our daughter's engagement.

Well life seems to have been a bit of a whirlwind at the moment. I looked at the calendar to check when Mother's Day falls  (Sunday 6th March)   I was rather shocked how close it is. Also we had a hotel booked when my husband had his accident and it seems we  have rearranged it to the weekend of Mother's Day. We are not going to be popular.

I have made this card for my mum she is not a girlie  type of person so I thought she would like this image of a cute bird with its nest. The image came from an older issue of Making Cards Magazine.

This sentiment I found in my stash. I will write something a bit more gushing on the inside.

I cut the image out with one of  Sue Wilson's Double Pierced Squares and I inked through the die before I removed the image. I think the gingham paper was from the same issue of Making Cards Magazine. The other papers were in my stash in fact amongst my snippets.

This card is quite flat it is going to have to go through the post. We will have to see our mums on a different day. When we changed the hotel we had no idea that Mother's Day falls that weekend.  We can't change is again it was hard last time.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Making Cards Magazine

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. Things here are getting a bit manic to say the least. It is nearly the end of term and there is so much Christmas stuff to do and my eager helper is out of action.

Well this post is about the card I sent in to Making Cards Magazine after they made an appeal for Christmas cards on Facebook. I have only just been able to get hold of the December issue and I was very pleased with the photo of the card.

This is the card I sent in. I featured it on my blog on 7th November all the details are there.

Here is the page of readers cards.

I think this photo shows off the card well.

I sent this card to my in-laws they have been very supportive of my card making. I do worry about giving easel cards to people ever since I found my uncle displaying one on its side. I shouldn't have worried my mother-in-law worked it out fine.

I hope that you have a great weekend. Tomorrow we are heading off to Brighton with friends to see the Bootleg Beatles. I am really looking forward to it.

A boy and his dog.

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are having a good week. Not long and it will be the weekend and not long after that it will be the end of term - not that I'm counting.

As I have said  before there are a few people leaving work at the end of term. I decided to make a card for the  male teacher who I have been working with this term. I bought the August issue of Making Cards Magazine and I decided to use one of the images that came with the magazine.

This is just a 6" x 6" card made from a single sheet of A4 brown centura pearl card. The doggy papers I have had in my stash for a while waiting for a good use and this was it.

I cut the image out with one of my Matting and Basics Spellbinder dies. This meant that it was easy to cut mats for the image. There was a space to the side and that is where I decided to put the sentiment cut with another Spellbinder die. I did ink round the image while it was still in the die. This was the first time I had used a brush to apply the ink and  I loved the soft effect.

I finished off the corners of the card with some dots of  Antique Green CS PVA glue.

I will give the chap a bottle of wine to go with this card he has been a pleasure to work with.

I hope the end of the week is kind to  you.

Fantasy Stampers - Fathers' Day

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Hi it is the weekend and I wonder what your plans might be? We are off to the theatre this afternoon, with my daughter and her boyfriend, to see The Importance of Being Earnest with David Sutchet in the lead role.

This is my inspiration card for the Fantasy Stampers Challenge Blog this time the theme is Father's Day. The challenge is open to everyone you need to follow the theme and use some stamps.

It is an 8" x 8" card. All the stamps I used are by Creative Expressions and designed by Sam Poole. The background was made with an A6 netting background stamp. I stamped it in my hand with CS Perfect Medium and then it was heat embossed with a white powder. Then I inked over the page with two shades of blue distress ink.

The Happy Father's day stamp came in the Ship-in-a-bottle stamp set.

The anchor came from the middle of the Nautical Words stamp.

The lighthouse stamp set contains the lighthouse and the inspirational words.

I was rather pleased that this card was featured on the Readers Cards page on the June issue of Making Cards Magazine.

Here is a slightly closer shot of the page. It is nice to see your card in print all nicely photographed.

I hope you enjoy your weekend. I will be back tomorrow with another post.
