Best Wishes from a Cute Elephant

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? We saw all our parents yesterday. My parents seem very happy with the two carers that they now live with them. I am sure it is better for them to be in their own home. My husband's parents are just starting out on the care journey. I think they will be needing more help soon. The Art of Craft shop is just down the road from my in-laws. We popped in yesterday between visits. I was a bit naughty and I treated myself to some goodies.

Here is a card I made with the last of the images from the Chute Digital Image Set from Beccy's Place. I had coloured the image but I ran out of time to make it into a card for the deadline for sending it to Beccy.

For the background I used some strips of leftover Designer paper from Claritystamp. The sentiment was cut into the paper with my Stencil Sentiments die set from the John Next Door range.

This is the cute elephant from the Chute Digital Image Set from Beccy's Place which is available HERE. He was coloured with my Faber Castell Polychromo colouring pencils.

This is another cute little card for my stash.

Painted Blooms tent fold card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? It is flipping hot. Last night there was an amazing lightning storm. My mother-in-law is still in hospital. She has a chest infection but that seems to be clearing now. Hopefully she will be able to come out soon. My husband and I will be visiting again this evening. It is exactly a year since my dad was in hospital. I think we need  a season ticket to the car park.

I was looking at Beccy's Place blog and there was a cool card  design using the Painted Blooms digi stamp set. Click here to be taken to the blog post.

The card blank was a leftover piece of card from cutting down an A3 sheet. I trimmed it to the size that would suit.

I had a printed sheet of images of the Painted Blooms set left over from the cards I made for the release. I used  Neenah card and I fussy cut the flowers and leaves. In my stash of scraps I found a piece of white card that could be cut to size. I arranged the flowers and leaves at the bottom of the card and cut round the edge.

I think this die came free with a magazine a long time ago.

Thank you Beccy for the inspiration. This is another card that can go in the art sale.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Beccy's Place - First day at School card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I am sorry I have been so quiet. I am really struggling with my parents. We got a care package in place for both of them so that my dad could come out of hospital. It has been running for a week and now my mum is saying they can cope on their own. I am sure some of you will be able to identify with these struggles. I don't think anything will be resolved quickly. We are seeing them at the weekend so maybe we can talk them round. It is really not a good idea for them to be left on their own.

I haven't been crafting much but today I have managed to finish a wedding card that I was asked to make by a dear friend. I can't show you yet but I thought I would share another card I made for a challenge blog that I am no longer part of.

I made an easel card I created  the backgrounds in Publisher.

Onto my background I placed a composite of images and a sentiment from the First Day Jitters image set from Beccy's Place.

The sentiment was made with a die.

I made the card but  I have no one to send it to. If anyone has any use for it I would be happy to send it to them.

Enjoy the rest of the week

Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog - July Challenge Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your weekend going? We have been busy with the wedding makes. I am still not quite sure how we will deal with the table plan. Apparently Maltese weddings are huge with 400 - 500 guests and there is no table plan. So this will be a bit of a departure for the venue.

Being the first of the month the new challenge starts on the Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes and the sponsor this time is Beccy's Place. I have just finished being Guest Designer for Beccy so I had lots of images I could use.

The backing paper and ribbon were in my stash.

There are many wonderful images in Beccy's store. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

I used an image and sentiments from the First Day Jitters Digital stamp set which is available HERE. I made a background with Publisher and the image and sentiment went on top. I coloured the handbag with Promarkers.

Isn't this ribbon fabulous.

I sent this card to my cousin who is rather poorly at the moment.

Crafts Galore Encore - June Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? Being half term there are no exams so I have had the week to get ahead with my Design Team makes. I have two more weeks of exams and then it starts all over again in September.

Being the first of the month (I can't believe it is June already) the new challenge starts on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog and the theme is always Anything Goes. The sponsor this time is Sparkle 'N' Sprinkle.

I made this card for my Mother-in-law she loves poppies. The aperture was cut with the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions. The lace was in my stash.

There are many wonderful image in the store from a few different designers it is well worth a look. If you click on the logo you will be taken to the store.

On the computer I created a background and I used the pre-coloured poppy that way I can give the image a transparent background. I was able to flip the poppy so I could build up this bunch. I printed the image three times so that I could decoupage the blooms.

The sentiment came from the same set.

I am sure my Mother-in-law will love this card. This year she will be 91. Here birthday is in just a few weeks time.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) challenge blog - theme Fantasy

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have been very busy with different things. Like lots of people I don't know where the time goes.

The new challenge starts today on the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) challenge blog and the theme is Fantasy.

I had a bit of a think of what Fantasy meant to me. I decided I wanted to use a dragon image. Well on Beccy's Place blog there are a selection for free images to you can use. To my relief she did have a dragon. The papers in the background came with in a pack that I got for the wedding we didn't use them for that it was nice to used them now. The flowers at the bottom were cut with a Spellbinders die.

He is called Baby Dragon and he is in the Fantasy section HERE.   I created his background with Publisher and I added the sentiment there as well.

This is quite a cute card. Why not pop along and join in with this fortnight's challenge.

Flower Fairies Gift Collection from Cardmaking & Papercraft Magazine

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Happy Weekend. I hope you are doing something nice. Yesterday we visited our daughter and her new husband. They have been married for exactly a week. Doesn't time go by quickly. We did have a brilliant time at the wedding. We have lots of lovely memories to cherish.

Well I keep treating myself to crafty bits and pieces the latest being the August issue of Cardmaking & Papercraft Magazine with its Flower Fairy Gift Collection. I remember the flower fairies from my youth and I know my mother-in-law loves them too.

The gorgeous paper came with the kit. There is gold foiling on the frames of the images so I added gold and purple mats and layers.

This is a small picture of a Harebell.

This is the Harebell Fairy she is very pretty. The paintings of the flower fairies were done in the 1920's by Cicely Mary Barker.

The sentiment was cut with a a Spellbinders die I do like the font.

I was very pleased with how this card turned out. There are lots of elements left in the kit so I will be making some more cards and other things.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Perspective Dies by Sue Wilson

Hi  My Crafty Blog Friends

How has your week been? At the start of the week I had a migraine and then headaches. I also hurt my back. I am feeling a lot better now. I dind't get as much done this week as I was hoping to. That is just how it goes sometimes.

Some of you know that I am friends with John Lockwood. We had arranged to meet up after one of his local (to me) workshops but his plans changed (they often do). Anyway he is in the process of moving and he asked if I would make some samples with the Perspective dies by Sue Wilson for his show on Hochanda. I agreed,  though I did need to buy some. The shows showcasing these die start tonight and carry on tomorrow.

These are the samples that I sent to John. I did enjoy working with these die they were fun to use and I love how you can use the negative and the positive of the die. Sue Wilson has lots of tutorials using these dies. The dies I have are the ones I thought would be most useful.

This is the first card I made it was going to be a shaker card but I didn't leave enough space, for the foam tape between the Happy and the Birthday. I do like the clean simple lines of this card.

This is meant to be a shaker card. I did get the idea from watching one of Sue Wilson's videos. The trouble is I put too much confetti in the card so it doesn't shake but it does look rather pretty. I need to make a birthday card for our daughter's fiance and I had been struggling with an idea now I am going to make one of these cards for him.

I did buy the stamp that matched the Happy and I used it to create the background. I used a sticky embossing powder and gilding flakes. It is a lot less messy using gilding flakes this way. Once I had done this I used Distress ink to colour the background.

This card sees my first use of Pixie Powders. Now they are quite as bright as Brushos but they do sparkle. I love things that sparkle. So behind the Best Wishes background there is some water colour paper that I coloured with Pixie Powders. I cut the Best Wishes die three times. Then I cut the Happy Birthday Circle set several times in different colours and I played around until I was happy with a combination.

I do like making boxes and I found the Circle Thank You die and the Circle Happy Birthday just right for the top of a box.

I decided to make a card to match the box.

Lastly this is the Circle Happy Birthday set used to decorate a box.

I did enjoy using these dies and I have lots of ideas of how to use them in the future. I feel like I have made a good investment.

I hope you get to watch some of John's show on Hochanda he is always full of good tips and ideas. I am hoping to watch the launch show at least. We are rather busy tomorrow.

Have a great weekend.

Happy Crafting
