Thinking of You in Mauve

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? On Tuesday I didn't have a good day. I had lots of phone calls to make about my parents. I also received a call from the Care Company to say that we owed too much money.  I had just paid an invoice. Lastly I heard that my uncle had died the night before. My poor cousin lost her mum recently as well. I decided the least I could do would be to make a card.

This is a design I have made before. There is always room for improvement. Plus there are usually new goodies to use. I decided on mauve for the card. I embossed white card and coloured it with a Distress. Yes I still have them and I still use them.

This is a Spellbinder's cross. The set has proved very useful over the years.

Finally I added the Ivy Spray dies from the John Next Door range. They are so easy to use and they go round an object beautifully. I kept them white as they showed up nicely against the background.

This card went in the post on Wednesday my cousin should have received it by now. I know some people don't make this type of card. I like to, as it gives me time to think and reflect on the people involved. I have also used this design for ordination cards.

Today I am helping at a Felting Workshop. Tomorrow I am at an  Arm Knitting workshop before we dash off to Aldershot to see my in-laws. I wonder how long it will be before we have to stop doing things.

Have a great weekend

Tiny Cute Sheep Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? I hope you got up to something nice. On Saturday we headed down to Mill Rythe a holiday camp on Hayling Island and we had a visit with our in-laws who were staying there with friends. On Sunday our daughter and son-in-law dropped off the hamster, we are looking after her while they go on holiday. Then along with our son-in-law's parents we had a meal at our local garden centre. Finally we  went to the Dinosaur Crazy golf which has opened near us. I have to say is just amazing and lots of fun.

This card started life as an off-cut from a larger card. I had been using the cloud dies on another project and I decided I wanted to make a sheep with the dies.

This is just a 4" x 4" card. I found a Spellbinders die that cut a border of flowers. I cut them in white card and coloured them with my Sparkle pens. The clouds are Crafter's Companion dies and seagulls are from the Nautical Scenes die set. I used spotty green paper for the grass. The sky is another dotty paper. Basically I raided my scrap box of bits.

This is such a clever die set. You can make the sheep face on or facing to either side. It is a Marianne die set it is called Eline's Sheep.

Here we all are enjoying the Dinosaur Crazy golf. There were moving dinosaurs, growling dinosaurs,  a viking boat and a vivid blue waterfall.

I am happy to say that this was one of the cards that sold at the Hampshire Open Studios event. I might just make another one.

Crafty Catz Challenge blog - Anything Goes with the optional twist of So Cute

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a good week. When this post goes live we will be on our way back from Glasgow. We have had a few days away to celebrate my birthday well you only turn 60 once. No longer being tied to school holidays is just brilliant. I will be back later and I will be able to catch up with everyone.

Being Friday the new challenge starts on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes and the optional twist is So Cute the sponsor this time is Di's Digi Stamps. The Design Team used their own images for this challenge. The prize is $12 voucher to use in the store. We also have a Guest Design Team call for June. If you are interested just put GDT after your name when you enter the challenge. We are a very friendly bunch 🙂

I decide to make a simple card with an aperture for the image. I use a leaf embossing folder for the background. Just to warn you I have lots of scraps of this blue card left over from the wedding invitations I made recently so they will be featuring in lots of my makes.

There are many wonderful images in the store if you click on the logo you will be taken there.

I decided to use one of Di's images that I already owned. This image is called Hedgehogs Bluebell Fun and it is available HERE.  I printed the image onto Neenah card and coloured it with my Promarkers. The frame I made with my matting basics rectangular dies from Spellbinders.

Aren't these hedgehogs just so cute.

Always Fun Challenges - Challenge 57 Female/ Mum

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your weekend been so far? We have caught up a bit on the gardening jobs. The car hunting has ground to a halt there just doesn't seem to be much available. Yesterday we saw both sets of parents. My parents we took out for a meal I share a birthday with my mother and my dad's is five days later. It is easier if we celebrate them all together. We then took the jacket and hat back to my in-laws. It was so good that neither of us had to buy anything for our costumes for the Murder Mystery. Today we are meeting up with our daughter and son-in-law to see Infinity War and share a meal. This is one of my birthday treats.

Being Monday the new challenge starts at Always Fun Challenges. This is challenge 57 and the theme is Female/Mum. Mother's Day in America is 13th May which isn't far away. I am sharing the card I made for my mother's birthday.

I treated myself to some new dies there was a sale of Spellbinders dies on Create and Craft.  I decided to use them to make this card. The backing paper was in my stash.

If you click on the logo you will be taken to the challenge blog.

This is bunch of Lavender was made with the Lavender Bunch die set by Spellbinders cut with different shades of centura pearl card.

This die set it is the Lavender Swag also by Spellbinders. The Ovals in the background are Tattered Lace dies.

Unicorn Challenge Blog Second Birthday

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Good morning. How are you? This is my second day of being retired everything is all a bit weird at the moment I am sure I will quickly get used to it. There is so much that I want to do.

Well the new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog and it is our second birthday (where did the time go?). To celebrate the theme this month is Birthday and we have not one but two wonderful sponsors Di's Digi Stamps and Fabrika Fantasy.

I had a look in the Di's Digi Stamp store and I couldn't resist this cute image. I used three shades of blue centura pearl card. I made a frame for the image with the Double Pierced Rectangles by Creative Expressions. The top layer was embossed with the Heart Lattice embossing folder also by Creative Expressions unfortunately I don't think it is available any more.

Fabrika Fantasy have some wonderful images on their site.

Di's Digi Stamps also has some gorgeous image. We are very lucky to have been sponsored by them both this month.

I treated myself to one of the images from Di's Digi Stamps this one is called Hedgehogs Bluebell Fun. The image was printed onto water colour paper and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.

I do love circle sentiments they often fit onto a card where others couldn't. This is a LOTV sentiment that came free with a magazine some time ago. I used my Tonic circle dies to cut the circles.

These bluebell were cut with some Spellbinder dies.

This is a good time to join our challenge with two sponsors. I am looking forward to seeing all the entries.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Up, Up and Away

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

Happy Bank Holiday.  I hope you are having a fine bank holiday weekend for those of you who get a Bank Holiday. Yesterday we celebrated my Mother-in-Law's 90th birthday. We had a lovely time altogether and the weather played its part and was just right. Today I am hoping to go back to the Hampshire Open Studios at Abshot Barn to collect the Batik we bought last weekend  I am quite excited about getting it home.

I was making a card for a challenge blog and I created this background in the end I decided it wasn't right for the image I was using. It was too good to waste so I used it to make this card. I made the background by masking off areas so I could control where the Pixie Powders and Brushos went. The clouds I cut with a die and laid them over the paper. I spritzed a couple of times with the clouds in place and once more with them removed. I didn't want a definite line on the clouds.

The balloon was cut with a Spellbinders die set called Up and Away Hot Air Balloon.

This is a Creative Expressions die.

When we set off home yesterday I said "this is a hot air balloon day" it was  lovely claim sunny day. Can you imagine my delight when we actually saw one on the journey. As I was in the car the picture isn't that good.

This is another card for my stash for those times  when my husband comes home saying he needs a card for someone at work by tomorrow. It has happened quite often.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Free Gift Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine - Issue 167 July

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? It has turned very wet here such a contrast to the temperatures last week.

When I bought the latest issue of Quick Cards Made Easy Magazine I was thrilled with the free gift and I couldn't wait to make a card with it.

The background papers came from my stash.

I started by cutting a circle of water colour card. I had some Pixie Powders left over on my craft mat from another project and I wiped the circle through the ink to make the background. Then I stamped the fairy and the sentiment with black archival ink. I picked up some of the colour with a paint brush so the colour was a little darker on the fairy. I cut the frame with a Spellbinders lacy circle die and a Tonic die to cut our the centre.

This is  a Crafter's Companion die.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the week. With the wedding so close nothing else is really happening for us just planning and organising.

Thinking of You in Purple

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? The children finished school today and I have two more days to go until the Easter Break. We have also treated ourselves to a trip to the theatre tomorrow for our anniversary and there was a good offer on seats.

I held out for a while but in the end I couldn't resist the April issue of  Making Cards Magazine. So today I made a card with one of the images and some of the papers that came with the magazine.

This is a 6" x 6" card my husband had asked me to make some smaller cards. I used my Spellbinder's Lacy circle dies to frame the image.

The pot on the image was not coloured I used the Stampin Up water colour pencils and a blending tool to colour it.

I love how the image and the papers go so well together. I is really quite easy to make a pretty card.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

A Wedding Card

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Unfortunately I have a cold but it seems to be improving. I am hoping that I feel completely  better by the weekend as we have lots to do as usual.

I made a wedding card for one of my Design Teams then I changed my mind and used another card instead.

I used my Spellbinder's corner dies and and ornate square die. The background was embossed with the Heart Lattice embossing folder from Creative Expressions.

This is a Tattered Lace die it is one of the most useful dies I received when I was on their design team.

I stamped the sentiment with a Clarity Stamp.

The birds and ribbon die is another from Tattered Lace this one was from a magazine.

There are a couple of people getting married at work I shall use this card for one of them.

Easter Card - Easter Lamb

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? I can't believe how the time is rushing by. There is still so much to do for the wedding. If you want to see how I am getting on there is a page dedicated to the wedding HERE.

I am also trying to get ahead with my other crafty makes for the year. I am still on April so I made a batch of Easter Cards everyone will have to have the same card this year.

I did stamp the image first and this influenced the colours I used for the mats and layers. The pattered papers were in my stash.

This is the Easter Lamb stamp by Stampin Up. I stamped it on to water colour card with Watering Can Archival ink then it was coloured with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. I used the Spellbinders Lacy Circle dies to cut the border for the image once in green and once in grey. The image was cut out with a Tonic circle die.

I bought the stamp last year he is so cute.  Enjoy the rest of the week.
